Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

So, any predictions before tomorrow? Personally, I am thinking the Direct will be pretty Mario heavy as I am going to assume we get a new 3D Mario in addition to Mario Kart.
That's pretty obvious I'd hope, I definitely expect those too.

Past those two, the only heavy hitter I fully see coming is Splatoon 4, simply because it is an online heavy game and Nintendo would want to launch it near the start of a system when users would be high.
That would make sense. Maybe another Mario 35/F-Zero 99 type of thing.

After those, I am feeling like some combination of Kirby, Fire Emblem or the elusive Donkey Kong may hit the system. FE and Kirby are usually bi/tri-yearly, so we are coming up to when they would launch a new one. Donkey Kong has been rumored forever and with the new park and the relaunch of Returns, I feel like something has to happen eventually.
I hope we don't finally get a DK game and it turns out they use that new DK model from MK9. I think if DK is announced it'll 2D, so as not to steal Mario's thunder.

Would not expect to see Animal Crossing, Smash, or Zelda (unless remake/remaster). These all feel further out and a good way to give the system some longevity.
While you're probably right I'd like to see a 3D Zelda announced even if it's a bit early and released later. TotK was merely a glorified DLC, after all.

Would also guess there will be a new IP, but obviously I cannot predict what the new IP will be. It will definitely be something that takes advantage of the new Joycons though.
Probably some kind of tech demo like Wii Sports, Nintendoland, and 1-2 Switch.

GameCube and/or DS for NSO should happen by now, I'm hoping for it anyway...

I'm going for the long shot because I 100% expect kid icarus fans to be disappointed. The game Sakurai has been working on in secret? Not Smash, not a new Kid Icarus, but Kirby's Air Ride 2

I'm betting tomorrow will show some games which are the next in the sequence of games we have been playing since childhood. Another Mario, Mario Kart, a Zelda, and some other franchises such as Metroid.
There won't be much other than 'meh, seen it before I guess'.

I have seen some speculate that the new DK design will be strictly for the Mario series as the theme park they recently built is 100% based off of Returns and its DK design. Would be a bit weird to open an entire theme park with a DK design they got rid of right as they open.

F-Zero 99 “Machine Shuffle Mini Prix”, but what are those?
So basically in a set time period, F-Zero 99 will have special courses. It's usually within every hour...
  • 15 minutes of team battle/expert courses
  • 15 minutes of Mini Prix
  • 15 minutes of Classic courses/expert courses
  • 15 minutes of main tournament
The expert courses are basically the "harder" tracks of F-Zero that don't appear in the regular 99 mode. However neither 99 mode or expert courses include the boss tracks, as they can only be played in the mini prix (which is rare) or the main tournaments.

Classic is self explanatory, it's basically the O.G. SNES tracks, and like the regular/expert courses they do not include the boss tracks.

Team battle is just that... you are selected a color at random and your color team has to win by point values which go up depending on rank position of race, how many times you've used the sky highway, and how many players you've bumped into/KO'd

Mini prix is basically a small tourny with only 3 tracks. Machine Shuffle is a new feature where when the mini prix starts, all players are forced to use only ONE car selected by the computer, so if the computer picks the Golden Fox, EVERYONE is forced to use the Golden Fox for 3 races.

I know how it works, I’m asking why none of that is explained in the app. Someone who doesn’t frequently play F-Zero 99 isn’t going to know what a “Machine Shuffle Mini Prix” is, and the app doesn’t attempt to explain why they should care. It just needs a brief text blurb saying “in this limited event, everyone uses the same vehicle!”.

The theme park designs have been in the work for nearly a decade and based Mario's stuff off of Wii U era assets. Its really irrelevant.

Anyways, here are my guesses...

Games:
Mario Kart (freebie, I know).
EPD 4 mouse-con gimmick game. Mario Paint/Artist/Studio?
3D Mario with no release date (sorry, Donkey...) includes 2D segments, actually planned for Christmas.
Splatoon 4 for later this year, once again no actual date.
Fire Emblem remake, again no date. Honestly might not even get a title drop, just showing footage from it, same as Odyssey was initially revealed.
Western third parties limited to "company logo compilation", Japanese games also only lightly present.

System stuff:
Launch is in late June.
Price is 400 dollars.
Some S1 games run with 60 FPS vs 30, (as shown in the XBX datamine,) others that struggled to maintain 30 on S1 just "run better".
"Full cost" games are now 70 dollars.
"C" button is for online chat, which is half-baked as always.
Doghead is dead, if you want to buy one its an extra but the thing only ships with joy-con 2s and the mini strap things.
New Nintendo Accounts System is not rolled out, but is announced as a "later this year" type thing, same as how NSO was announced but not released last time.
Sold in a box with.... blue?.... trim to differentiate from S1. Woooooow.
Cases maintain form-factor but once again have blue trim, to stand out as different on store shelves.

Next two weeks:
Switch 1 price drop in select countries.
Third parties make their plans known, lots of them just not invited to the direct.
Select Halo games coming to S2, not MCC, buy that shit piece-meal. Will not hit launch as they didn't get dev kits. HFR does hit launch, or launch window, but only because its an S1 game in an S2 box because it couldn't hit the required framerate otherwise. No Rare Replay.

Out of the blue predictions/wild stuff:
Kirby two months after launch?
Physical games at 70, but digital at 60 or 65.
Ugly DK gets his own game.
Smash title drop with no or extremely limited gameplay.
Xenoblade Warriors.
KI: Uprising remake, no date given.
You can play as Peach in the Mario game.
No M+R, the creator quitting was because Ubisoft told him to move on instead of doing an S2 version/expansion.
No new Zelda, TotK might be shown in the "S1 games running better" sizzle real, because man does that game need it.
DQ XII trailer, not a launch game, not a 2025 game, but at least you get a trailer.

edit: I've already been pretty much confirmed wrong on the doghead. "Horray", I guess.

Do you think the Switch 2 games will cost 70$ (other companies have already forced that as "standard") or 60$ (current price in main games, except for Tears of the kingdom)?
I can see both scenarios happenings
I'm sure Nintendo will charge whatever price is fair.

So, any predictions before tomorrow?
  • New F-Zero
  • New Punch-Out!!
  • New Star Tropics
  • New Donkey Kong 3
  • All previously-released info about Switch 2 is disinfo, and it's actually something interesting instead

New Donkey Kong 3
Finally, he’s back boys

I'm locking in some final predictions (only including unannounced games) ranked from what I think is most likely to what I think is unlikely but I'd like to see

-3D Mario
It would be weird if they didn't
-Smash
Even if Sakurai doesn't return, this series prints money, Nintendo definitely wants this out either this year or 2026
-New kirby game
Either 2D or 3D, forgotten lands was fun and I'd love to see a sequel
-Kid Icarus(?)
Sakurai is confirmed to be developing a new game right now and it's 50/50 it's the next kid icarus or the next Smash
-Pikmin Spinoff
There's been rumors and frankly I think miyamoto wants to get more pikmin out there as soon as possible. Long shot prediction: It's a tv show based on the shorts.
-Mysterious Murusame Castle
Either a remake or a whole new game, though considering how outdated the game is a remake would be practically a new game. This one's a bit of a stab in the dark but Nintendo has been really pushing this lately, is there a reason they want it in the public consciousness?
-Kirby's Air Ride 2
Longshot secret sakurai project prediction. I loved this game as a kid and I'd love to see a sequel.
-an attempt at a return to form for Paper Mario rpgs
Nintendo seems really interested in making Mario quirky again and equally interested in seeing if Mario RPGs have a market. It's a longshot, but I think it's possible.

I feel like they would hold off on Smash. They already have Mario Kart and presumably a 3D Mario. No need to have Smash eat up their attention.

Smash feels like a next year showcase at earliest. Something to guarantee a high 2nd year once the other heavy hitter, Mario Kart, has begun to run its course.

I am weirdly feeling a new Kirby as well. The series is fairly consistent about releases so it feels like it is time for hopefully a Forgotten Lands sequel. Only issue is that Kirby would be a second 3D platformer if we are to believe Mario will get one.

Maybe another bold prediction, but it has been awhile since we have seen Next Level Games. Maybe a potential Luigi’s Mansion?

Would be stupid easy to make a new package of the current one with all the DLC included and some minor graphical upgrades, and it would continue to print money for another few years.

Yeah, but with the way that they're going with them, I honestly doubt if it'll ever appeal to an older audience
That's the reason I specified an attempt. I think they'll try, kinda like they almost did with origami king, but I think there's a good chance they don't succeed.

Origami King was kind of onto something. But between how tedious the basic fights are and the lack of an antagonist who bugs you every now and then, it was kind of boring.

I'll get shit for this but I tried bug fables and fell in love with it. A lot of people shit on it for how it looks but the story and gameplay more than make up for it.

Getting a lot of old Arlo videos from around the time of the announcement, reveal, and release of the OG switch from eight years ago and it’s interesting thinking about and comparing then versus now. Melancholic in a way.

Who shits on Bug Fables? It is the Paper Mario game we all deserved.

Oh also prepare for Smash Ultimate DLC on Switch 2.
