Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Pretty dogshit launch window lineup. Remasters and ports as far as the eye can see. Probably a pass from me, at least for a six months to a year. DXM2 alone isn't enough to make me wanna get the system. Genuinely baffling that they only had like four actually new titles for their new system. It was like the polar opposite of that first big Switch livestream they did where they showed off a ton of new games.

okay, I'm making a megapost to dump information from the site:
  • [*] Console launches at a $450 price-point, launches alongside a bundle including a digital copy of MK World for $499
[*] Normal first-party games now cost SEVENTY DOLLARS, big-box flagships cost EIGHTY (judging off of Bananza's price and World's price).
[*] These prices can vary based off of edition. DIGITAL games are cheaper than PHYSICAL games because Nintendo hates piracy I guess.
[*] Joy-cons are NINETY DOLLARS now.
    [*] Pro controller is EIGHTY(??)
[*] CAMERA IS FIFTY FUCKING DOLLARS LMAOOOOO
    [*] $110 for the Dock
[*] Charging grip (the weird dog head thing you stuck your joy-cons into) available for $35
[*] New straps are thirteen dollars
[*] Joy-Con wheels for Mario Kart come in sets of two. $20 together.
[*] Two different carrying cases, one for $35 and another for $80
[*] $30 for a new AC adapter kek
[*] NO OLED FEATURES presumably because it would compete with the existing OLED model, but still LMAOOOO
[*] Need a system update to use the new SD cards
[*] Here's a page detailing backwards compatibility for future reference. There are PDFs detailing third-party games and first-party games with compatibility issues linked on it as well. So far, only LABO is completely incompatible with Switch 2 unless you count the few games that require a regular Switch Joy-Con due to accessories, like Ring Fit. I hope it stays that way.
[*] C button is purely for chatting purposes. Basically equivalent to Discord overlay, so if you don't have NSO it's mostly useless. Yay.
[*] Mouse controls are only available in certain games. Presumably this is just here because Switch 1 games won't have any compatibility with it, but I'm unsure. Could mean that some first-party Nintendo stuff also doesn't take advantage. We'll see!
[*] Some games are getting individual performance patches on the Switch 2 regardless of there being a Switch 2 edition. It's a bit confusing, but for example: Pokémon Scarlet isn't getting a Switch 2 Edition. If you insert it into a Switch 2, you can download a free update that will improve its performance using the Switch 2's capabilities. I have no clue how this will work with games that you use on the Switch 1, then the Switch 2, then on the Switch 1 again, and neither does Nintendo apparently because they don't elaborate on it any further.
  • [*] Only two systems at a time can be linked through the "digital game card" thing. You probably need to link and unlink every single system individually if you want to share one game with multiple people... and every first-time link up requires an internet or wireless connection, so have fun with that.
[*] An Internet connection is REQUIRED for the first time you load a Digital Game Card, as well as any time you eject it.
  • [*] GameShare is picky and stupid. Some titles cannot be shared online, some titles cannot be shared at all.
[*] Mario Party Jamboree, for example, can only be shared locally.
  • [*] No mention of K. Rool. Some guys called "VoidCo" are the villains.
[*] Game involves chasing down stolen golden bananas.
[*] Some kind of new companion that looks like a black blob or minecart creature? The site shows a render with DK riding a weird-looking minecart while describing it, but the screenshot doesn't show anything like the render. Just a black blob on the back of DK's shoulder.
[*] New DK design, from the movie. Also carrying over to Mario Kart. This seems like the default design going forward.
weirder stuff that isn't immediately obvious on the site will be linked to, otherwise all of these statements will be backed up through official site pages from the spoilers' respective topics

>overpriced console with negligible performance increase
>every little feature nickel and dimed even harder than switch 1
>joycons will drift
>several parts like microphone and controller attachments built onto the tablet itself so if something breaks, you have to buy a new console or pay the price of one to fix it
>all of last gen's shitty fucking slop dumped onto the console so it looks like there's games
>basic social features that the fucking XBOX 360 did 20 years ago advertised as new, novel reasons to dump hundreds on this piece of crap AND you pay a fee to use them when you can do all of them for free on PC or your phone
>PAID next gen updates :stress:
>shitty tech demo where you walk around on a 3D model of the console you just dumped hundreds on will not be included for free and will cost money :stress:
>niggertendo has NO FUCKING GAMES except mario kart tour 2, disabled basketball simulator, soulless donkey kong odyssey and metroid prime 4 which will be available on switch 1

you nintentards got raped. hard. I would almost feel sorry for you if you didn't so willingly spread your ass cheeks for niggertendo every single day
Doesn't matter how dogshit it is, soytendies will buy it no matter how much they complain

Nintendo games have always been overpriced because of their strategy of maintaining the price rather than going for sales numbers with deep discounts even months/years after release.
But for me a new Mario Kart and exclusive From Soft game makes the console an easy buy.

Haven't read anyone else's comments yet, here we go:
  • Mario Kart World looks amazing, I went from slightly interested to hyped. Though one interesting detail is that they're no longer distinguishing completely new tracks from retro, and there may be only 7 cups instead of the usual 8? Still, I'm hyped. And it's a launch title, as expected.
  • GameChat looks nice, but I'll probably never use it. And GameShare is cool, but I don't like that it only works with certain games.
  • 4K60 or 1080p120? Works for me as long as they can keep a steady framerate. Also, no mention of AI upscaling which should hopefully satisfy the "muh fake frames" people.
  • The mouse is real, and it... looks more interesting than I originally gave it credit for. Especially with Drag x Drive, which looks fun. But it also looks like you need a physical table to actually use it, so it's worthless to a lot of people.
  • Switch 2 Welcome Tour looks like a fun tech demo game, but... come on, did they really not learn from 1-2 Switch? Make it a pack-in.
  • The Switch 2 Editions having actual new content (except Legends Z-A which will have the new gimmick of "it won't run like shit" lmao) should be a good compromise. I'll get Forgotten Land and maybe the Zeldas if I feel like jumping back into those.
  • Third party stuff, neat. Not sure how I feel about Pro Skater 3+4 having a Spongebob expansion, but sure, why not. Also, EA came crawling back with Madden.
  • Yakuza 0 Director's Cut? Really cool, I wonder if it'll come to PC.
  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment? I loved the original Hyrule Warriors but disliked Age of Calamity... I'll probably pass on this one.
  • Gamecube on Switch Online Nintendo Classics. It'll be a bit difficult if the Switch 2 controllers don't have analog triggers, which Nintendo just refuses to add for some reason. Also get fucked Wind Waker HD fans, I told you so :smug: (sorry Wind Waker HD fans). I'm also on the fence about the tiny ZL button on the new Gamecube controller, like they didn't want to add it but just did out of obligation.
  • DELTARUNE RELEASE DATE YESSSSSSSSSSS also silksong
  • A new From Software game that I thought was Bloodborne for 99% of the trailer because I'm retarded. But it has blood in the name... is it a sequel? Spritual successor? I don't know soulsborne.
  • Holy shit, Kirby Air Ride 2 by Sakurai! I really didn't think it would happen.
  • Donkey Kong Bananza... I don't know what to think about this. Obviously it's a big deal for DK fans, but I'm just not much of one. Though it looks and sounds more like 3D Mario, so I dunno.
Overall, a fantastic direct for me. The system is out in two months, and I'm hyped. How much does that Mario Kart bundle cost?

Oh... well, that's the high end of what I expected. $449 for the base system, $499 for a bundle. But are games still $60, or going up to $70? Probably 70?

Oh, FUCK OFF. Forget everything I said, Nintendo can go fuck themselves.

Americans will likely have to pay more because of tariffs.
Don’t think that’s it, EU prices are even higher than America’s, with a stronger currency too, they’re paying about 11% more for the console bundle and almost 25% more for the games, since all their prices are 10 higher than Americans apparently.

dark, dark times ahead for Nintendies. PC kings stay winning
I thought about trying to make a video of a Gabe Newell static cartoon image with "Tomorrow Belongs to Me" playing as the background music, but that seems like too much work.

Are the Switch 2 exclusives worth $80? I'm sure Nintendo thinks they are. I have my doubts though.

I gave the Direct a watch, I'll probably get the Mario Kart World bundle since at least makes the price of the game not sting as much.

I'm not as chuffed as some people are about Donkey Kong Bananza and its redesign (some of Rare's influence is still in the IP, a DKC-styled segment is present in Bananza's trailer) and I'll probably pick it up too.
Normal first-party games now cost SEVENTY DOLLARS, big-box flagships cost EIGHTY (judging off of Bananza's price and World's price).
I think this is part of the reason why there wasn't a Switch 2 equivalent to the Nintendo Switch Game Voucher system, if the games don't sell as well as they'd hope then they'll just introduce them to Switch 2 to drop the price down to where a digital game costs $60-$70.

Oh, and you can expect some stores to sell under that $70-$80 MSRP. I know that Costco has Mario & Luigi: Brothership for $52.99 and Super Mario Wonder for $49.99 (both games have an MSRP of $59.99) while Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is being sold for $59.99 (MSRP for that title is $69.99).
