Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

I cant get too invested into the switch 2 shit other than saying the prices suck, the hardware looks good, nintendo got greedy for even the soytendies to notice, good luck.
kinda been looking for an excuse to just stick to my backlog anyway. shame since my switch 1 is kinda shitting the bed rn after being used since launch, was gonna get the 2nd one as a replacement but worried if compatability isn't gonna fit for everything
all the features like the mouse shit along with screen sharing is exactly what I wanted but fuck man, not buying it at launch when I have alot of shit to play and it feels like they need to really give me a reason to upgrade
in general I don't see the long term gameplan here, the reason the switch 1 was successful was it's realively cheap price point at the time. it alowed families to buy multiple for each kid, eventually adding the lite and all that.
designing the console around manchildren who can pay for premium shit kinda kneecaps the sale potental

I don't think many people age out of feeling angry that their hobby is getting more expensive while not substantially increasing in value, no. There's calling out /v/ tier slapfighting over absolutely nothing and then there's acting like you're all so above it all as a company actually does something beyond retarded.
Yeah, things costing more sucks, but the difference in being healthy and unhealthy is your blood pressure rising because Mario Kart costs $20 more on release. When someone has a mortgage, a relationship, possibly kids, work, loans, etc it's really hard to care that much beyond eye rolling at yet another price increase in a hobby they spend maybe a couple hours a week doing. They won't be buying any of this anyway, not for years. The people who get super angry over hobbies are the people who have nothing else to fulfill them in life as I said. Subsequently they also are the early adopters and have to buy everything on release even after rage pigging online about whatever the drama was. Let's be real

There's a nice middle ground between people who barely interact with the hobby and people who obsess over it and between people not caring at all and having their blood pressure rise that I think you're rather intentionally ignoring.

There's a lot of really bitter people in this thread. It's like watching old men that are constantly finding something to be upset about. For fucks sake Nintendo isn't the entirety of your existence, where life becomes heaven on earth or eternal agony depending on the smallest business decision some Japanese salaryman pitched to his boss.

The world is not going to end just because you don't like what Nintendo is doing. Go read a book, go outside, learn the piano or pick up a hobby.
People can shoot the shit about stuff and call stuff retarded without it being the entirety of existence. Some people just enjoy ranting about stuff they think is stupid. All you've done here is outed yourself as the one who, in fact, cares way too much about Nintendo. Nintendo is not going to touch your peepee.

The tariffs are just a smokescreen. Europe is getting fucked over massively even though it has nothing like that going on .

What interests me is if the console does well in Japan, but poorly in the West, what will happen? Because Nintendo is blatantly using the West to subsidize the Japanese consoles and games. It irks me to think Nintendo still wouldn't care at that point and just become a mainly Japanese company.

And no, I don't think Nintendo will take kindly to emulation this time around. It doesn't help that emulator trannies can't keep their mouths shut.
I love the tariffs fucking Nintendo. They outsource from China to Vietnam to avoid them and Vietnam ends up getting hit harder than China. They delay the release by nearly a year in hopes that the yen rebounds but it doesn't and instead their system gets hit with a massive import duty.

Those people are fine, what's to address? I'm talking about people who you can tell are at risk of a stroke by reading their posts. I care about stuff too, but I don't let negativity grow into anything more than an eye roll when it comes to hobbies, usually. I like guns, so when one of my hobbies can make me a felon overnight via a new law being passed, yeah that's something to truly care about. Might even get my blood pressure up a bit for a time. Gamers tend to have no perspective for how reasonably well their hobby has it in terms of price for hours of use, and variety of experiences, and talk very melodramatically about negative happenings compared to other groups. Much like moviebob and his own personal Vietnam 9/11.

I wasn't too excited about the Switch 2 before the direct. There were a few things that got me interested like Mario Kart, DK, and Kirby Air Ride. But most of it was underwhelming or baffling like mostly focusing on the chat feature, it not being an OLED screen, or having the tech demo cost money. I can't say I'm too surprised at the pricing, especially with the rumors of some future games costing $100 like GTA VI. It definitely doesn't make me want to buy it day one. It's nice that a few of the games will still be on the Switch 1, it's a shame Donkey Kong won't be, though

Smash without Salurai I just know will be horrible.
I fear this, even if I personally dislike the current direction of the series just being a glorified roster. You know the second Sakurai is out, Smash will end up like all of its clones, trying to be a recreation of Melee for hardcore fans.

Best case scenario they just do the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe thing and rerelease it with new content, unless Sakurai is willing to do a new Smash.
The problem with this is the 3rd party contracts. Smash Ultimate is a bit of a miracle child that came about at the right time. For the future of the series, I worry that many won’t play ball even out of pure retardation and not just money. Square is the biggest offender as I have no idea how Nintendo will convince them to release 4 characters on the cartridge for a rerelease. Microsoft is another that may be worrying given how wild they are in the industry right now. Konami is always questionable and SEGA thinks they can beat Mario currently, so no idea if they will play nice.

I wouldn't mind cutting back in the form of making "echoes" mere costumes. I can understand losing 3rd party characters too (in fact, please fucking remove Steve).
Would personally like a full reboot. Probably an unpopular stance, but the heart of the series really died somewhere between Brawl and Wii U. Would love for them to go back to Brawl in terms of campaigns and general respect/preservation of Nintendo history. Ultimate really wore me out with the nothing single player and way over abundance of emphasis on just having big roster and tons of different companies IPs.

Considering I'm into guns too, you're preaching to the choir. In fact I'd say talk to any gun owner about certain companies and you'll hear the same complaints about companies continually raising prices as the quality kept getting worse. The poor 870 suffered the most from this.

I’ll probably end up waiting till around perhaps the holidays or something to get the Switch 2 at any rate. Wait for everything to hopefully settle down.

Still a bummer about the pricing, and I can only hope that they come to their senses and end up lowering them in the future should the backlash get too severe, especially if it eats into the sales.

I'm seeing a lot of people say that physical games will cost $90, but is there an actual source for that? Even the "journalists" don't give any source, and Nintendo's own website says Mario Kart will be $79.99.
Yuzu was up and running less than a year after the Switch released. I'm not so fucking brainrotted that I need to play any game DAY ONE POGGIES, especially at the price Nintendo is asking and at the expense of a shittier experience. How fucking long does it take you to set up an emulator anyways that you feel the need to make a statement like that, are you retarded or something?
Alright, then tell me where I can download a Switch 2 emulator. I'll wait.

Yuzu was a special case where Nvidia fucked up in a very specific way that resulted in launch systems being permanently moddable. Given how much time Nintendo spent stalling the Switch 2's release and financially ruining Yuzu devs, there's no chance in hell they aren't doing everything in their power to keep this thing locked down tighter than a 360 so that never happens again.
It begs the question though if there any digital-release only games have been dumped ever. I cant imagine the files are easy to access if the game is console exclusive and not on a disc.
Have you ever modded a console made after 2004? If anything, dumping digital games is easier than physical.

Nintendo's EU website said it in euros and usually game titles are kept at dollar/euro parity. Eventually costs will rise so much that differentiating them, as they do with pounds, but I don't think we're there yet.

Just get used copies of your bing bing wahoo off Facebook marketplace from a parent selling it to punish their child like a normal adult. Jeez.
If anything this is a tax on the man children who insist on having a plastic case on full display because they want to "own" it.

Yeah, they already leaked 5 years ago too.

Frankly, I'm not tempted to trust leaks given that not one of them mentioned a single detail about the new Mario Kart, when 24-person races and DK's redesign would've been immediate and interesting changes that would make people curious. It's also interesting that none of them ever mentioned the change in joy-con attachment, the new kickstand, or anything of the sort. Hell, the one "super confirmed" leak we got from that French guy a few pages back had some weird joycon grip thing in the back that was nowhere to be seen in the teaser trailer.

I truly think that being so confident about anything derived from leaks when we're this far out from learning the most basic details about the thing in official terms is dumb. There is every chance that what you stated to be 200% not happening will, in fact, happen.
Just going back to remind you that the Famiboard component leaks were entirely accurate, as I stated.

All Nintendo needs now is to have some spokesperson come out and say that if you're dissatisfied with the switch 2 and its prices, to just stick with the Switch 1 (which isn't getting a price cut this year btw).
You don't understand, Nintendo only makes a 7 digit number income from Pokémon alone, they need to charge you 80 dollars for a series they've been doing since 1998 or they'll go broke.

I've got a Steam Family set up and it has been a lot simpler to share games instead of fiddling with Nintendo's account nonsense. I used to buy physical for the ease of handing a copy over to a family member on the first Switch (never bought one of those carts where you had to download the rest of the game) so I would prefer that. Unfortunately, Nintendo is being Nintendo.
I don't know why I'm going to bat for this idea because I'm unlikely to buy any game like this but:
  1. it avoids the account system altogether and instead gives you a transferable licence that you can even sell or lend to people outside a family group
  2. it still has the physicality that I find a lot easier to use with my kids, although I'm also a weirdo that has them using DVDs in 2025
  3. it's much preferable to the "code in a box" type digital-physical releases which have become far too common
A couple of the Switch physical games I own have parts of the game behind a scheme like this, for example the Assassin's Creed Rebel Collection has Black Flag on cart and Rogue as an easy download as long as the cart has been in once, no codes required. Not something I would normally like but when you're bending the limits of what can be done with a cart it's fair enough. If this is limited to like 200GB games where an nvme spec cart would be $50 of cost it starts to make sense, although I see Square Enix is already doing this for their port of Bravely Default.:stress:

i find it funny people are bitching about nintendo games being a license but forget that you dont own your games on steam either, but hey the only worse cult than nitnendo fans, are valve fans

REJECT STEAM AND NINTENDO, EMBRACE GOG AND DRM FREE GAMING
yeah but i've purchased game(license)s with a 50 dollar msrp for 10 bucks during their sales. nintendon't do that.
