Console generations ain't what they used to be. I expected Switch 1 to have a long lingering death. When the Switch 3 drops (in 2040 or so) it will be even more boring, more overpriced, and take even longer for people to adopt.

It feels very reboot/prequel-y. The only other Kong character that's been confirmed so far is Cranky, so I imagine Diddy is either being kept hidden (there are other chimps that look like him in the trailer) or he'll be in a sequel.

Meh. I can't stop them putting an $80 price tag on their digital game licenses, sure, but I can certainly prevent my wallet from purchasing them. These companies forget sometimes that they can't afford to continually push more people like me out of the ring. I like the Switch and have a bunch of physical games for it, but my interest in the S2 after all this is zero. If enough people make the same decision, it will be a good swing at stopping the practice.

this is true, nintendo is the last company to cuck out of true ownership, where as PCMR fags let valve totally destory all physical PC gaming becasuse "muh steam sales, muh daddy gaben". and they gave up that right back in 2004, remember that PC gamers bitched at half life 2 because it required steam to "verify" but they took it up the ass regradless. and Xbox/PS fanboys gave that up late PS4/Xbox One generation. the truth is we have let these faggot corporations let us not own what should be ours, all for the sake of convenice. Modern gamers are niggers, regradless of their platform, ill just enjoy my 3DS, 6th gen Consoles, and GOG library , at least i own my copies.

Honestly, I have such a backlog of stuff across all current platforms that I'll probably wait until the Switch 2 OLED comes out in 2027/2028 to get one.

I like Nintendo stuff but they are pure gougers when they are doing well in the market and I'm not willing to line their pockets even more when my gaming is adequately covered by Gamepass/PS+/free Epic stuff & cheapo Steam games.

A couple of hundred bucks a year keeps me going across 3 platforms and Nintendo are looking for €80-90 for one game? Nah, that's a non-runner.

Nintendo forgot one thing: The Switch is a great console. That means that the Switch 2 adoption will be slow. At least slower than the Switch was. The Switch succeeded early because of how bad the Wii U did and that meant there were less people are eager to buy the new console. I think we are in a good place to wait a while and we can tank the sales for now. Let them have lower than expected sales and be forced to explain that to their investors.

It's admittedly in a tough spot. It's hard to see how it'll be as well received as Ultimate, there's ways to do it but not everybody is going to be happy. The only way to please everyone is to just make it bigger and better, which might work for one more game (add 15 characters and advertise it as having over 100 characters, pretty enticing).

Not exactly but close. The prices for games did not go up like that then. Still, similar enough to make a good argument. This is worse in many ways.

But this will make things worse. Before, they tried to hide the true cost in order to not look scummy. Now, they will not hide the true cost and will feel confident to charge even more for everything else. If the final game was about 120 before, it will be 140 now.

I have always called out steam for not letting people truly own their games, my point being is that you see PCMR fags go on about consoles for not owning games, but I tell them to look in the mirror, the utter truth is that except for GOG, no platform lets you own your games. In some cases the game key card could be a consequence of Nintendo charging out the ass for cartridges that can actually fit a whole game (e.g. 64 GB). So a developer might go "physical" just to have it on store shelves.
