Makes 0 sense to me to just drop the game like that. Even Aspyr has like a month between announcement and release for their low effort projects

I remain cautiously optimistic.
Well, April third has come and went, and no Oblivion remake. I don't see why people are excited, you know it's not going to be on the Unreal engine because this is most likely another excuse to sell more Creation paid mod bullshit. At best, it will be on the 64 bit Creation engine with AI upscaled graphics. It's still going to have the same busted leveling scaling, and the same 6 voice actors, and the same Radiant AI...

Starfield was a flop, I bet revenue from the paid mods was less than expected, and now they're going to try Horse Armor II: Electric Bugaloo. Remember, M$ (and Bugthe$da) don't want to make money selling a quality product, they just want to skim off the top. They're looking at Nexus Mods and the 7.2 billion downloads for Skyrim and thinking "What if we got $5 for each download?"

What's Todd been doing for the past six months, anyway? Jackin' it to R34 of Lucy Mclean? You know what I don't get about Todd, he's supposed to be some Old-School CRPG gamer but when you listen to him talk, he's got the most basic bitch taste in games, shit like Diablo 4 and Peggle. And I'm wondering, are those the games he really enjoys playing, or does he just say that, because those games are familiar to the suits he's trying to impress?

From the interview with that really boring guy, it sounded like that while he doesn't really like RPGs (in the interview he said his favorite is a college football game), he makes games his kids would like.

@BALLZ-BROKEN MkII, There's some interesting follow up news at least.

But I thought he grew up playing the Ultima series on his Apple II. I could've sworn I read that in an article I read, but maybe not. Maybe I'm wrong, and I just assumed that because he's a self admitted chess club dork. Todd does have an Apple IIc on his desk if you go back and watch that interview with Mr Mattyplays. I wonder if that's actually the computer he had as a kid, or it's just some strategically placed nerd bauble he bought off Ebay so he can be all "How do you do, fellow gamers?"

Tastes change, but the reason Todd was about ready to suck some dick to get hired at BGS after playing a hockey game they did, and the first ES he had a part in was the markedly different Redguard.

So is there a remake or something coming or has it just been bullshit?
I doubt it at this point. Bethesda doesn't have the coding talent anymore to port Oblivion to Creation Engine 2: Electric Boogaloo and the modders they've hired can only make house mods (Elianora) or quest mods (Trainwiz). If they do put something out it'll be rushed to coincide with the release of Skyblivion so they can get console retards to pay them.

An Oblivion remake would be amazing, but a remaster is just a boring cash grab. If they fixed radiant AI and took its shackles back off, added in cut content like each city having an arena, retooled level scaling, and made NPCs not look horrendous they'd seriously have a 10/10 game on their hands even if we've seen it before.

At the end of the day it's Bethesda however so I already know it's going to be a basic remaster.

I am beginning to wonder if the Oblivion remaster might be Bethesda shooting themselves in the foot for ES6.

Oblivion had the best blend between action and RPG IMO, and letting a bunch of new players see what actual RPG mechanics can do might cause some backlash when ES6 comes out and is even more dumbed down than Skyrim.

That supposed Oblivion remaster/remake is going to be whatever. Probably going to be another buggy piece of garbage with all the fun, Unreal baggage attached. Would be surprised with it garners any positive reception. As for TES6 unless they spent all this time going back to a Morrowind adjacent direction I don't expect a good game at all. But it still could be a successful game, with all the brain-dead normies eating it up.

Everyone still thinks there's going to be a remaster.
Reminds me of when people were listening to that furry troon a few years back going "Honest guys bloodborne for PC soon."

With each passing day its looking more and more like these people are full of steaming hot shit.

Maybe it existed at one point but has since been heavily delayed or cancelled. The idea that they're layering Creation on top of Unreal to run it sounded like bullshit to begin with. You can mod the creation engine into anything.
