I feel like I was one of the only people in my friend group that thought Origins was a bad fucking sign from the get-go.
Origins came at a time when the franchise needed a core shakeup badly, and a Witcher 3 clone with parkour and stealth wasn't a terrible idea or incredibly overdone at the time.

Origins also had a kino setting and that marketing guy who made them make Bayek the player character still in charge, so the story was okay.

Everyone who made Origins good got metoo'd right after though, so it explains why every game that came after that was just worse and worse.
Ubisoft is starting to shut down studios. Are the chuds owned yet?
China owns AC now, chud! That's good for us even though we spent the last five years crying about games like Wukong! That means we win!

Curious to see what will become of Hexe if China deal goes through. That game is reportedly supposed to be the queerest most lesbian feminist game Ubisoft has ever created, involving lots of black magic and witches, which is apparently essential to feminist storytelling now.
Tencent won't even be blamed for a damn thing, if anything people will praise them for "saving" the company
All according to plan. Wasn't it said somewhere that Tencent were the ones who encouraged Yasuke as a playable character for Japanese AC? Not that the French cucks needed much convincing I'm sure. Absolute 4D chess move on their part. Kind of funny.
If you get stabbed in the gut and begin to bleed out, you're gonna get dizzy and light headed and some numbness in your extremities even if they're not what got initially stabbed.
Is this why those little tummy pokes you'd give guys in the early games were instant killers even though you'd probably live for a long time after getting stabbed in the stomach once by a tiny knife?

Those stomach/back stabs are supposed to sever the victims spine, so they lose consciousness almost immediately and bleed out. The assassin also usually put their other hand on the persons mouth so they can't scream when it happens.

Well the backstabs in 1-Revelations always looked like it went up through the heart, but the tummy stabs seem pretty absurd if they're supposed to be severing the spine.

You can get more complex then "Italian Man fights a dinosaur" without ruining the player's ability to be in control - something that a lot of games manage without constant forced "walk and talk" segments/cutscenes.
that are just 2 extremes, technically even super mario bros has non-interactive scenes. there isn't an industrial or international standard that it's only allowed in a certain amount etc.

in the end it's a completely moot point because there will ALWAYS be games covering broad areas, there will literally never a time we'll only get exclusively sony movieslop or super mario bros.

hmm, haven't had a single "player" count update since the 3 million mark and the player count is dying on steam (especially compared to Odyssey) indicating the game has no legs at all.

What happened ubisisters? I thought this was supposed to beat Odyssey?

To be fair, few critically acclaimed singleplayer games ever make big numbers. Open steam stats and you'll see either the mainstays; dota, cs etc - the shortlived indies that are 80% inflated by Twitch streamers, and then finally those weird taiwanese netcafe games like dont starve.

Only games akin monster hunter ever get in the top 15 as 'singleplayer games'. BG3 or KCD2 mightve been the only actual singleplayer games getting up there as of late.

Generally speaking though, when they do, they openly broadcast (and prove) those numbers rather than lying and obfuscating with shit like "player counts."

You say that, but there's actually quite a few up there for all time peak that have been from the past few years. Realistically, it's that single player games just don't have the replay value to get most people to spend hundreds of hours in them. And that makes sense. But the all time peak player counts
#2 black myth wukong at 2.4 million Game journos hated it, but gamers who like souls games actually liked it
#9 Elden ring at 950k same reason as above
#12 Hogwarts Legacy, 879k and game journos spent more time hating this one that black myth wukong
#13 BG3, 875k
#22 fallout 4, 472k but this is a decade old and is basically irrelevant(shit game anyway)
#25 monster hunter wilds beta, 463k. it's honestly kind of pathetic that shit can't do this well

Now if you sort by 24h peak then yeah single player stuff is far lower unless it's been hyped to shit by streamers(like schedule 1). But is that really much of a surprise considering how few decent single player games actually get released? It's almost like there's a pattern of shitty games doing shitty for sales and player counts, and games that actually do what customers want readily making it into the top couple hundred most popular steam games of all time for usually just a single playthrough.

Almost every major single player game released in the last 5 years had some kind of Live Service attached to it.

Suicide Squad was hyped as fuck before it got revealed that it was Live Service crap.

Same with Avengers I think.

Funny that the most popular single player games did NOT have any of that shit.

i think the other obvious thing is that nearly all single players games largely aren't games to be played infinitely - if they are, they're in an extremely competitive market like Roguelikes or super niche grindfests like disgaea. multiplayer games have an advantage to player counts because multiplayer games will usually have multiple players per game -

- and they're designed to derive replay value from experiences with other players.

another thing to point out is that single player games don't force a constant need to be playing the game on players like multiplayer ones do, look how few people played New Vegas according to "peak" numbers, but we all know its a lot fucking more. hell bethesda openly incentivizes not playing the games on release, whereas with seasons and other shit you're forced to play COD at least monthly

The issue with steam stats is that it misses a lot of games.

Persona 5, P5Royal, P3Reload, Astrobot, Mario Oddessy, Breath of the Wild, Sekiro, God of War, Last of Us, Red Dead 2, Cyberpunk, Tsushima, Ori, DMC5 and so on are entirely (or mostly) Singleplayer games that came out to massive acclaim.

There's also a huge selection of games that weren't absolute "Game of the Year" games that did well too (Yakuza 7, Yakuza 8, Unicorn Overlord, etc). There's absolutely a place for SP games but every games executive are chasing the Fortnite Money Printer Dream.

And I barely played any new games from that time period, funny how that works.
There is no reason to ever have a live service element anywhere, not in a single player game and not in a multiplayer game either. Go play an MMO if you need your spending fix.

If it wasn't obvious already, westerners fleeing their openly Judeo-communized zog content to "cleaner" Japanese media pastures really pissed off the Kalergi kin, especially the hollywood levites and Larry Finkberg blackrock bribers.

No one can be allowed to escape. (((Western))) companies really started getting their tendrils into the game in the 2000s, and Netfux showed you what the overall goal was with things like >>Nigger'd L<< in Deathnote 2017. The Lockley revelations with this Asscreed game ended up outing a (""former"") communist party member in a large Japanese media company. It was a nice quick look behind the curtain, but don't expect many more to be that blatant. From Nintendo clearly getting into D.I.E., to the astroturfed and fanfiction-based Yasuke wank campaign (from games to NetFux propaganda... again) - Nippon is getting it hard from the circumcized cock. Sad but predictble to see.

There can be no escape allowed for the goyim. Iudea Delenda Est.
