It's as good as proven that he used the emulator on some late runs, and the use of the emulator is in its self a rule violation. It hasn't been proven that he did any tinkering with the game/used save states/gained any actual advantage from the emulator use, but from what I hear-tell there are unproven (and probably untrue considering they come from brain-warped speed run troons) allegations that he slowed the game down 3-5% for an advantage.

Well, the analogy softens because using emulators isn't fake....at all. You "can" cheat on emulators. You also "can" cheat on an original board.

These nutcases have spent untold thousands of manhours studying Billy Mitchell's tapes with the most fanatical obsession. They've never found anything other than inconsequential differences between an emulator's load times and an arcade unit's load times.

"Cheating", in all colloquial usage, is a violation of competitive integrity: Bribing umpires, sabotaging opponents' equipment, breaking rules such that the competition itself becomes void.

I'll flip it right back to you: No other gamer faces 1/1,000,000th as much vicious scrutiny - harassment, really - as Billy Mitchell. IIRC it's all conjecture. Twin Galaxies had a cheating scandal, Billy lied about a bunch of other dumb stuff to maintain his image, and the only recording we have of his gameplay was using MAME. Honestly, since he is actually a pretty good player, he should have just recorded a legit attempt, submitted it to the new Twin Galaxies leader board, and then told everyone to fuck off.
