Back when I was following this stuff, it was that he had incredibly low credibility and might have cheated. I don't know how this spun off into Billy DEFINITELY being a cheater who killed Apollo Legend. The hotsauce stuff is new to me, too.
he's been selling hot sauce for decades, the AVGN had a video where it appears during the classic era, he drinks it to beat a hard video game, i think one of the transformers NES games.

Lunacy, Billy needs to sue more people over this retardation

It's as good as proven that he used the emulator on some late runs, and the use of the emulator is in its self a rule violation. It hasn't been proven that he did any tinkering with the game/used save states/gained any actual advantage from the emulator use, but from what I hear-tell there are unproven (and probably untrue considering they come from brain-warped speed run troons) allegations that he slowed the game down 3-5% for an advantage.
Correct. (And there is absolutely no way that slowing the fps would go unnoticed by anybody, so that accusation is idiotic on its face.)

The funny thing is, it's all these late-milennial/early Gen X YouTubers, terminally online personalities who obsess over this. They don't give a flying fuck about vintage arcade games. Like I said, how many videos have any of these Billy stalkers - including Karl Jobst - made scrutinizing Galaga scores? Or Centipede? Or Q-bert? Or Donkey Kong 2? It's all fake outrage, put on for show by aging freaks devoid of actual human feeling.

Getting mad at Billy Mitchell for using MAME to recreate world records he's already achieved legitimately is like getting mad at Brock Lesnar for winning championships in professional wrestling after winning those MMA championships.

So yes, Billy Mitchell is the Brock Lesnar of gaming.

The autistic rules seem more stringent than the fucking Olympics tbh.

If they want rules as strict as that, then fair enough, just make it a requirement to set records in-person and be done with it.

Well, the analogy softens because using emulators isn't fake....at all. You "can" cheat on emulators. You also "can" cheat on an original board.

These nutcases have spent untold thousands of manhours studying Billy Mitchell's tapes with the most fanatical obsession. They've never found anything other than inconsequential differences between an emulator's load times and an arcade unit's load times.

If an army of detectives spends 100,000 hours obsessively trying to prove that a man killed somebody, and they literally come up with nothing - nevermind enough to convict in court, but literally nothing - at some point you've got to say, "Oh. Our theory was wrong. He's innocent." That's the entire basis for the statute of limitations: so that cops and prosecutors with vendettas can't hound somebody for their entire life. The only problem is that Reddit troons have no statute of limitations. They'll obsess over Billy Mitchell until they finally hang themselves.

Then just either agree to the rules or don't cheat. I'm not sure how hard this is. Just don't cheat.
"Procedural violations" aren't "cheating".

"Cheating", in all colloquial usage, is a violation of competitive integrity: Bribing umpires, sabotaging opponents' equipment, breaking rules such that the competition itself becomes void.

I'll flip it right back to you: No other gamer faces 1/1,000,000th as much vicious scrutiny - harassment, really - as Billy Mitchell. Why the fuck would we believe that none of those other players play on emulators? (And, really, why would we gaf even if they did?) Do we really believe that all of those dudes own these gigantic, ancient arcade machines - bigger than a fucking refrigerator? Fuck no. Grow up.

Go and scrutinize all the other Guinness record holders like you have Billy Mitchell, and then get back to us.

Donkey Kong is because all you know about is watching movies
Not to be “that guy” but king of Kong does make it clear that Billy first rose to fame by being the first known person to have a perfect game of Pac-Man ending in the kill screen.
And the pac man record has been his real call to fame, donkey Kong just being a more contested one.
No one cares about his burger time records because no one cares about burger time

Nobody cares about Donkey Kong, either. It's all fake outrage.

someone should correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure the whole claim about him cheating was just that he played on an emulator, right? and that it was potential that he DID cheat? it was so long ago that i learned about all this that i don't remember if he was actually confirmed to have cheated on any scores.
IIRC it's all conjecture. Twin Galaxies had a cheating scandal, Billy lied about a bunch of other dumb stuff to maintain his image, and the only recording we have of his gameplay was using MAME. Honestly, since he is actually a pretty good player, he should have just recorded a legit attempt, submitted it to the new Twin Galaxies leader board, and then told everyone to fuck off.

Wildly and completely false.

Billy Mitchell's been recorded live playing shitloads of times. He has a fucking Twitch channel.

The Reddit troons and Karl Jobst don't applaud him for his greatness because, just like you and me, they don't actually give a fuck about Donkey Kong or Pac Man scores, and they'd be bored to death watching him. It's all fake.

Honestly I don’t even care if he did cheat at Donkey Kong at this point, it’s highly immoral but probably not illegal unless theirs some marketing aspect that actually causes victims I.E his hot sauce being made from dead babies. It was just proven that there are, in fact, no dead babies so I don’t really care.

These people are so passionate about destroying him that they will terrorize him and his family and do shit way more heinous than this. Billy isn’t a saint and maybe cheated, but at some point you have to conclude that this shit is just ridiculous

Edit: Use code Billy for 20% off for artisanal hot sauces made by the KING OF KONG

Mutard framed it as though it was a mistake by Karl, not a malicious lie he pulled out of his ass even though he was told by everyone around him that AL didn’t kill himself because of Billy Mitchel
I think he basically framed it as 'hey maybe it was an honest mistake, maybe karl is completely wrong and you should sue him for fraudulently soliciting donations, I'll let the viewers decide. But whatever the case it's not my fault, anyway it's me Mutahar and that was the Billy Mitchell lawsuit.'

If that's the narrative, then Karl Jobst will always be a hero, although one who fell just short of slaying the dragon. He'll have an army of Redditors linking to his GoFundMes and sending him donations for years to come.

Because then, the moral dynamic is simple: 'King of Kong' is real, Billy Mitchell is Evil Cheater, Karl Jobst fought the good fight, but just lost.

As of this time I'll say he didn't cheat, but if he did then it was based. Let the old man embellish his glory days.

"I know that Karl is a good person in regards to investigating things."
"Karl's heart is in the right place."
Nah, Poos are worthless.
