The GMOD/SFM Splatoon / “SplatSource” Community

REMEMBER: ARCHIVE EVERYTHING! People in this community tend to DELETE EVERYTHING when things go wrong! Even if it’s been up for years and likely abandoned and forgotten, better safe than sorry!
INTRODUCTION
The thread will focus on the "GMOD/SFM Splatoon community," also known as the “SplatSource” community, which combines the fans of the game series Splatoon and the fans of Garry’s Mod (GMOD) / Source Filmmaker (SFM).
If you do not know what any of these three are:
Using Garry’s Mod or Source Filmmaker (Source engine games, the “Source” in SplatSource), people in this community make art / animations.

While this is technically a Gacha Life post, the poster and most of the people mentioned in the post’s description are part of the SplatSource community.

Now as you can see, a community like this has people who are fun to simply watch for being weird or making weird content. However, a community like that is bound to have some drama. If you already know about the community, some of the names above may be familiar to you. Along with some of the silly stuff shown above, this thread is meant to document the horrifying and funny stories and drama that gave this Splatoon subcommunity the negative reputation it has. With the amount of stuff lost to time, some of the statements I'll make are inferences, so I apologize if I get anything wrong.
Note: the content behind the spoilers is long. Any embeds inside should have a source, whether in the alt text or underneath.
MAJOR CONTROVERSIES

HeavyTheSquid, also known as Philipp Reisenbauer, was an Austrian SplatSource YouTuber who was considered one of the building blocks for the SplatSource community. In the past, he was known as Inspector Heavy, and made TF2 Garry’s Mod videos. He was no small figure; in fact, before the exposés came out, he was on the way to 50,000 subscribers, based on this screenshot in @MediExcalibur2012’s video a month after the first exposé.

As you may already know, he was part of the first major controversy of the SplatSource community, where he was exposed for his erotic role-play (ERP) with the then 15-year-old Ellie Godelia. It was so infamous that he even got an Encyclopedia Dramatica article:

Like all popular YouTubers, HeavytheSquid had a Discord server that let him interact with his fans. Doomsday.exe says Heavy met Ellie over Discord, but LolAttack (who was in direct contact with Ellie at the time) says Heavy met Ellie over Steam.
(THIS YOUTUBER IS A SEXUAL PREDATOR!, 2:42)
(Ellie Godelia’s Downfall PART 1, 1:50)
Either way, Ellie says she had met Heavy in July, but didn’t start dating him until September; she was 15 at the time. Ellie implies in her Truth Stream (about a few months after Heavy left the Internet) that Heavy was the one to initiate the relationship, and says she accepted at the time because she thought he was “the one.”
(To Catch a Squid, 2:04)
(The Truth Stream, 12:10)
It seems to have started in 2016, as this Amino post by Heavy the Squid celebrating their relationship is dated May 26, 2017.

Heavy was so in love, he talked about wanting to fly out to see her. The Discord screenshot also shows that Heavy knew that Ellie was under 18.

Despite knowing that she was under 18, their RP quickly turned into ERP.

I’m not sure if this was a DM to Ellie, but embarrassing nonetheless.

During this, Heavy sent what appears to be an unsolicited nude (a picture of him in nothing but his socks and underwear).
Heavy tried to defend himself about this picture when it was later revealed, stating that this picture was out of context. One of his defenders on the Amino post about him said it was a before-surgery photo that Ellie requested to see.

Former friend and defender TexanGamer13 said that Heavy told him he sent the photo to Ellie because she said she was concerned about his health (because he was fat).
(Talk with Texan: Heavy, 8:00)
Ellie said she kept going because she felt pressured to, in fear of Heavy using his fans to attack her if she split up with him. In the Doomsday.exe video, she claims that Heavy forced her to continue the ERP, but no proof is shown for that claim other than her word.
(Datura’s Heavy the Squid video, 4:59)

Ellie’s fears weren’t unfounded, as Heavy has been shown in the past trying to send his fans against someone named icerulerking, I guess for exposing him in some Discord chat.

Eventually Ellie did break up with Heavy the Squid sometime in August 2017, based on what Heavy says in his apology video (uploaded April 8, 2018).
(My True Apology, 1:00)
Ellie told PickSurprise she broke up with Heavy because a friend “helped her see the world clearer” and she realized she shouldn’t be hanging around these people after seeing a Twitter spat between her friends and Heavy’s friends, which ended up spilling over to her.
(Ellie Godelia’s Downfall PART 3, 6:27)
(Ellie Godelia’s Downfall PART 3, 7:00)
Heavy did not take kindly to this, and complained to his friends about it. TexanGamer13 recalled that Heavy said that Ellie was cheating on him with someone else and that Ellie was a racist; supposedly the real reason she broke up was because she hates Austrians and thought Heavy had a terrible accent (which TexanGamer13 believed at the time
).
(Talk with Texan: Heavy, 3:20)
She leaked the DMs to a small group of friends and asked one of Team Downfall to make a video. LolAttack makes his video publicly showing evidence of Heavy ERPing with Ellie sometime around November/December 2017. It was quite controversial at the time, and it got mass disliked and taken down by Heavy’s fans.
(Ellie Godelia’s Downfall PART 1, 2:49)
(To Catch a Squidette, 2:36)
From LolAttack’s evidence, PickSurprise would make his Channel Checker video on Heavy the Squid and release it on February 18th, 2018 (sadly now private). As PickSurprise (at the time) was not connected specifically to the Splatoon GMOD community (and outside the reach of biased fans of Heavy the Squid), this is when the topic started to spread past the Splatoon GMOD community.
(THIS YOUTUBER IS A SEXUAL PREDATOR!, 5:53)
(Ellie Godelia’s Downfall PART 3, 3:06)
You might be wondering, “If a 24-year-old was getting with a 15-year-old, why didn’t anyone say anything?” Both Ellie and Heavy’s ages were not known to the public (and I assume most of both Ellie’s and Heavy’s friends) until PickSurprise’s video came out.
(To Catch a Squid, 4:28)
PickSurprise’s video also doxed Heavy as Philipp Reisenbaur by showing his (now-deleted) Facebook account in his Channel Checker video.
(The man who “NEVER” admitted his wrong doings, 2:49)
In response to PickSurprise’s Channel Checker video, Heavy the Squid made various responses to the video. Some of these messages happened to include people who got into later drama.

(To Catch a Squid, 5:31-6:02)
It wasn’t just Heavy who responded. A day after the PickSurprise video dropped, Omega the Squid Man, one of Heavy’s friends and biggest defenders, threatened to dox Ellie’s face as a form of revenge.
(Datura’s Heavy the Squid video, 5:56)
HeavyTheSquid would get into a voice call on Discord with some other people to explain his side of the story, which results in some of the craziest lines I’ve heard from someone trying to defend themselves. This is a cut-down version of the voice call that was in the “To Catch a Squid” video, as I cannot find the full audio clip. Supposedly it was hosted on Soundcloud, but it seems to have been removed now.
(To Catch A Squid, 9:05)
Eventually, Heavy decided to take a hiatus… for 1 day, and came back on February 28th. Right after this hiatus, he immediately interacted with CuteYoshiLover, a minor. He would also heart comments defending him after his hiatus.

(To clarify, CuteYoshiLover is actually 16 at this point in time, her birthday is January 1, 2002)
(To Catch a Squid, 10:25-10:52)
In addition, one of Heavy’s fans, AlexAllStar14, goes into PickSurprise’s Discord server, chimps out at him in a chat and in the voice channel, eventually bringing in his sister, Lori. Unfortunately the full thing is also private, so only this chunk exists to my knowledge.
(To Catch a Squid, 10:53)
During Heavy’s “hiatus,” @MediExcalibur2012 watches PickSurprise’s video, and makes a Steam post warning others about Heavy the Squid, linking to said video.

Omega the Squid Man sent a scathing Steam message to @MediExcalibur2012, unfriending him on Steam and blocking him on Twitter. Omega claimed to have evidence proving that Heavy was innocent, but being blocked meant that @MediExcalibur2012 and others like him couldn’t see it and just had to trust his word.

When @MediExcalibur2012 sees that Heavy the Squid has returned and has gone straight to talking to minors, he starts working on the “To Catch a Squid” video.
(To Catch a Squidette, 3:38)
Of course, after it comes out, Heavy makes a response to it, saying that the drama is old and it should be left in the past.

Imgur screenshot L/A
Heavy also announced on a YouTube Community Post that he will be deleting any negative comments on his videos.

Heavy freaked out in his Discord server about the video, having his fans calm him down.

A day after MediExcalibur2012’s video, on April 8, 2018, Heavy uploaded a video on his channel titled “My True Apology.” While it did get deleted, there was a reupload on the Internet Archive.
(THIS YOUTUBER IS A SEXUAL PREDATOR!, 8:16)
Internet Archive
As other YouTubers started to make videos on Heavy the Squid’s drama, Heavy says in his Discord server that he will leave on May 10. Perhaps an attempt to leave the community as some sort of final apology?

Nope, this was just a final middle finger to Ellie for ruining his Internet reputation. He was still adamant that he was innocent, and that Ellie is the one causing problems.

When this was leaked, more and more people started to turn against Heavy in favor of Ellie.
(Ellie Godelia’s Downfall PART 3, 3:33)
But what would end up being the proverbial “final nail in the coffin” for Heavy was Doomsday.exe’s (frankly quite dramatic) exposé, released on May 4, 2018.

For whatever reason, around this time the situation blows up and goes somewhat viral on the Internet.

(Heavy the Squid SNEAKS BACK IN?!, 0:42-0:57)
The pressure becomes too much, so Heavy makes a final post on his Discord server, and actually deletes his YouTube channel near May 5, 2018 (based on the upload date of “What happened to Heavy The Squid?”).

(What happened to Heavy The Squid?, 0:21)
The most surprising thing is that Heavy’s brother, Vito, had no idea what was going on. After Heavy deleted his account, Vito DMed Doomsday.exe on Discord, offering apologies to Ellie, Heavy’s subscribers, and the greater GMOD Splatoon community on behalf of his brother.

While it would be nice for the story to end here with Heavy leaving the Internet forever, that was not the case. Both PickSurprise and Metokur predicted that he might come back under an alias.
(What happened to Heavy The Squid?, 2:29)

This prediction turned out to be correct, as LolAttack, the guy who originally exposed Heavy the Squid, found him under a new account, called Wild Deadeye.

LolAttack probably found the alias because his Discord DMs with Heavy were replaced with DMs with someone called “Wild Deadeye.” He didn’t even bother making a new Discord account!

While the Steam account is gone now, someone (I presume @MediExcalibur2012) managed to archive the Steam page on the Internet Archive, which I proceeded to archive to archive.today.

L/A
One of the account’s previous Steam names was Emerald Squid. Pretty conspicuous for an alias of someone with a green Inkling self-insert.

Another obvious thing is one of the few friends the account has is MrMadness02, who was a fellow Splatoon GMOD artist who defended Heavy and was (and actually still is) in his Steam group.

L/A
Another friend the account has is Awesome BOB Glitchy 4. BOB is a character from SMG4, and Heavy the Squid was known to like SMG4, as his Discord server (before its deletion) had a section for it.

Wild Deadeye's friends list also contains fellow Splatoon GMOD creators “Wyvern the Pink Octoling,” Alpha Swan, Brian Jackson II, minor CuteYoshiLover, and his brother Vito.

Deputy Bart / Splat God confirms the name change to Wild Deadeye, and also states that he had changed his name to Cpt. Pootis by the time MediExcalibur2012 worked on his second video about this topic. The Cpt. Pootis account also made a review for Garry’s Mod, stating that it is “Very Good to make Gmod Animations.”

Anyways, MediExcalibur2012 makes his second video on Heavy the Squid, “Heavy the Squid SNEAKS BACK IN?! - The Destruction and Aftermath.” According to TexanGamer13, even Omega the Squid Man eventually stopped supporting Heavy for being such a backstabber.
(Talk with Texan: Heavy, 0:58)
He had deleted his (new) Discord server and cut everyone he knew online from his life, so after committing Internet suicide, TexanGamer13 ponders if he had actually killed himself in real life.
(Talk with Texan: Heavy, 5:07)
With his reputation ruined, Heavy the Squid had seemingly left the Internet for good. However, this would start a trend of the SplatSource community being unable to police itself regarding controversy, only really stepping up when bigger communities took notice (after all, Heavy the Squid kept defending himself, only leaving when Doomsday.exe’s video went viral, and even then, he still tried to return).
TL;DR: First major controversy of the community, one of the biggest SplatSource YouTubers at the time ERPed with a 15-year-old when he was 24; after going viral he deleted his channel, but tried to come back; he was exposed again and left the Internet.

INTRODUCTION
This rewrite is due to the original OP being frankly very bad and barebones about two of the most ridiculous events in this community, so I wanted to fix that and add some more info. Plus, drama about this community is generally scattered around the Internet, and some of it discussed out there is incorrect / taken out of context / interpreted wrongly. In some existing threads (including the original thread) I have already compiled some things about the community, so I wanted to put it all together in one place and fix any mistakes I made in the original posts.
If you do not know what any of these three are:
Splatoon is a Japanese third-person shooter published by Nintendo, targeted towards kids and teens. It features the squid-kid combination of Inklings.

Starting in Splatoon 2 (via its DLC, Octo Expansion), Octolings (octopus-kid combination) were made playable.

Each game has a thread, but they all seem to be focused on the game and not drama around the community.

Garry’s Mod (GMOD) is a digital “physics sandbox,” created by Garry Newman, which allows for user-created content to be used. Source Filmmaker (SFM) is a movie making program that lets the user make animations in the Source engine, released by Valve. Like Garry’s Mod, people have uploaded Splatoon-related content to SFM’s Steam Workshop for others to use in their work.

I personally thought… he was gonna be, you know… my Prince Charming, that’s what I thought, in the beginning. And knowing how stupid I was, I was wrong. And it only took me about a year to realize what type of person he was.
And believe me, there isn’t a single day where I regret dating him. Trust me on that. I… wish that I never said yes, to his offer of being his girlfriend, I wish that I never, you know, got to voice act for him, I mean, I wish I could’ve done better, but at the same time… when you really think about it, it’s my fault that I got myself into this situation, it’s my fault that I let him take control of me.

TexanGamer13:
But Heavy, like, came up with the excuses, when he, like, came in chats with me, and said some- (breath) -thing along the lines of like, “the picture was not a part of the sexual roleplay, it was just Ellie concerned of Heavy’s health, because… back then, Heavy was fat.

Ellie said she kept going because she felt pressured to, in fear of Heavy using his fans to attack her if she split up with him. In the Doomsday.exe video, she claims that Heavy forced her to continue the ERP, but no proof is shown for that claim other than her word.
Ellie:
Cause technically, here the thing: Heavy is, like, known as one of the most biggest people in the Splatoon community. And I knew that I tried to do something to pretty much cut it off, the whole community would split in half. And…
PickSurprise:
Yeah.
Ellie:
My guess was correct. Literally. When I broke things off with Heavy, EVERYTHING just went haywire.
PickSurprise:
Right, so, so, you kinda felt… pressured to.. To stay with before- before you broke up because of the backlash you realized it would have.
Ellie:

Ellie’s fears weren’t unfounded, as Heavy has been shown in the past trying to send his fans against someone named icerulerking, I guess for exposing him in some Discord chat.

Eventually Ellie did break up with Heavy the Squid sometime in August 2017, based on what Heavy says in his apology video (uploaded April 8, 2018).
Heavy:
But… since we [Ellie and I] are now separated since 8 months…
But… since we [Ellie and I] are now separated since 8 months…
Ellie told PickSurprise she broke up with Heavy because a friend “helped her see the world clearer” and she realized she shouldn’t be hanging around these people after seeing a Twitter spat between her friends and Heavy’s friends, which ended up spilling over to her.
PickSurprise:
Why would you say your relationship with him ended?
Ellie Godelia:
Technically, it’s- it’s kind of- okay, this is where it’s gonna get a little confusing, but…
PickSurprise:
That’s okay, go for it.

LolAttack:
Once she released the info to a select few friends, she wanted one of us to make a video about making the news public. I was the one who made the video. I titled it, “Inspector Heavy’s Downfall.” Then, a few months later, I told the YouTuber called PickSurprise about the situation after seeing his Channel Checker on LizzieRatcicle. And then he took the evidence I gave him and made his Channel Checker on Heavy.

MediExcalibur2012:
But later on, Ellie and Heavy would both break up, which later on would prompt Ellie to contact LolAttack and notified him about what was actually happening in the DMs, in hoping that he could do something. LolAttack would then make his video exposing HeavyTheSquid, only for Heavy to find out and send his followers to mass dislike the video, resulting it to be taken offline.

Doomsday.exe:
And that was until February 18th, 2018. When YouTuber PickSurprise uploaded his video, detailing the specifics of their relationship, and what Reisenbauer had been doing to Ellie.

You might be wondering, “If a 24-year-old was getting with a 15-year-old, why didn’t anyone say anything?” Both Ellie and Heavy’s ages were not known to the public (and I assume most of both Ellie’s and Heavy’s friends) until PickSurprise’s video came out.
MediExcalibur2012:
After all of this had unwrapped, a video appeared out of nowhere, by the user PickSurprise, who managed to piece together and reveal to the public everything that was sent, everything that had happened, but most importantly: the ages between the two of them. Showing, with clear evidence to prove, that Heavy the Squid was a predominant and active sexual predator.

PickSurprise’s video also doxed Heavy as Philipp Reisenbaur by showing his (now-deleted) Facebook account in his Channel Checker video.
SoulEaterFan235:
Oh, one fun fact about Heavy! In PickSurprise’s Channel Checker video, he goes to show off his official Facebook account on a screenshot, in which he says that Heavy goes by the name of Philipp Reisenbaur. Now, I know what you all are thinking, “Hey, can we still find his Facebook account?” Well, apparently you can’t because he already deleted it. I mean, heck, I tried looking for it myself, and… Nothing.

Datura:
One day after PickSurprise’s video on Heavy the Squid, “Channel Checker - Heavy the Squid” came out, Omega sent somebody this message. “I have this bitch’s face reveal, I think it’s time for revenge!” And, uh, well… hi- his “plan” was to reveal Ellie’s face to the public as a form of revenge. (Sarcastically) Wow. Absolute fucking legend.

Heavy:
I just wa- wanted Ellie should step down as a member of the Splatoon community, because she doesn’t deserve to be a member of the Splatoon community, and not being beloved because what she’s doing to me, is just fucking false news, just like Donald Trump but in an evil way. (Girl: -that's where I'm gonna have to stop it-) She’s just like Hitler, it’s what I can call her.
This fu-, fu- fe- thing, Ellie should drop it. And I- it’s already 5 months ago, and what happened back then with me and her, it should be in the past. She should forget it.
Why- then why the fuck was she- was she- was she just saying that I’m a pedophile then, huh? Should there- shouldn’t be for no reason whatsoever.
She has no evidence. (x4)
If I would be a pedophile, I would just rape kids- like 6 year olds in real life, but I never do that.
But, she- she- she- she treated me like- like an asshole. How would you- what you’re claiming about me, it’s false. And you should- you sh- should just stop lying. Just fucking jealous because I never get so much subscribers as this fuckin’ channel.
Guy:
She’s still a minor, and you’re a full grown adult. Ellie was 16, you are almost 26.
Other guy:
Heavy, pedophiles don’t have to be gay.
Heavy:
Well, she’s- yeah, but- but she pulled up this roleplay, not me.
Girl:
She basically bribed you into the roleplay, in order to…?
Heavy:
She- she brought up to the roleplay, just to pull up a trap, and she’s making me, as- as a culprit.

MediExcalibur2012:
However, very soon, later on, Heavy would come back after a one-day break, and would continue to interact with people under the age of consent. Realizing that this was a person with the potential to keep repeating the same actions as notified before, I went from social media posts to an actual YouTube video.

Realizing that this was a person with the potential to keep repeating the same actions as notified before, I went from social media posts to an actual YouTube video.

Doomsday.exe:
As on April 8th, Heavy the Squid uploaded a video entitled “My True Apology” to his main channel.
As on April 8th, Heavy the Squid uploaded a video entitled “My True Apology” to his main channel.
- Heavy is very ESL
- Heavy admits some parts of PickSurprise’s video are true
- Heavy claims he did not attempt to sexually harass Ellie, and that he’s not a pedophile
- Since Ellie is now 17, and will become 18 soon, if she stayed with him she would become the age of consent and it would be legal to be in a relationship with him (?????)
- Heavy and Ellie split up 8 months ago (around August 2017), no way to fix the relationship
- As a result Heavy decided to stay single and enjoy his single life
- Repeats that he is not a pedophile
- No interest in children, because he only has interest in adults, “like the age of 23, 20, and 18.”
- Because he changed himself after his breakup with Ellie
- Said that sometimes he started it and sometimes Ellie started it, it wasn’t only him forcing the roleplay.
- Proceeds to repeat previous point
- He “couldn’t say no,” is “just a guy who can’t say no so much”
- Apologizes to everyone involved in the drama, is okay if you don’t accept his apology
- Never intended for his friends to attack Ellie, he is not that kind of person after all
- Just wants to distance himself from Ellie and start over, to continue to make Splatoon GMOD videos
- To people thinking that PickSurprise and MediExcalibur2012 were lying, Heavy says some of it is true, but he is not a sex addict nor a pedophile
- Repeats that he is a changed person who “only has interest to adults” and is still straight
- Hopes audience understood, accepts his apology, apologizes to PickSurprise
As other YouTubers started to make videos on Heavy the Squid’s drama, Heavy says in his Discord server that he will leave on May 10. Perhaps an attempt to leave the community as some sort of final apology?

Nope, this was just a final middle finger to Ellie for ruining his Internet reputation. He was still adamant that he was innocent, and that Ellie is the one causing problems.

When this was leaked, more and more people started to turn against Heavy in favor of Ellie.
LolAttack:
Heavy, being scum, decided that the best idea was to blame him deleting his YouTube on Ellie, in the hope that people would turn on her and send some of the hate her way. However, Heavy forgot that people outside of the Splatoon community have some common sense, and the complete OPPOSITE happened. Ellie got even more support and people hated Heavy even more for trying to shift the blame on the victim of his own sexual transgressions.

Ellie got even more support and people hated Heavy even more for trying to shift the blame on the victim of his own sexual transgressions.

PickSurprise:
Now, if you don’t live under a rock, you probably would have seen this coming. But if you go and search Heavy’s YouTube channel, or try and click any links that lead to his YouTube channel, you will notice that the channel has been deleted. Not because of the staff at YouTube - as if they’d bloody do anything - or because of any sort of mass flagging; he deleted it himself.

PickSurprise:
If I had to make a guess, I’d probably assume he's going to come back under some new alias.
If I had to make a guess, I’d probably assume he's going to come back under some new alias.

TexanGamer13:
Like, Omega now believes he’s a pedophile, because, like, he’s [Heavy] pretty much, like, backstabbed everyone and stuff. (breathes)
Like, Omega now believes he’s a pedophile, because, like, he’s [Heavy] pretty much, like, backstabbed everyone and stuff. (breathes)
He had deleted his (new) Discord server and cut everyone he knew online from his life, so after committing Internet suicide, TexanGamer13 ponders if he had actually killed himself in real life.

The reason for that [why TexanGamer stopped supporting Heavy] was because he has pretty much, like, cutted everybody from his life. Like, he has pretty much like, deleted his Discord server, yet again. He tried making another Discord server. Honestly, I didn’t blame him, because, like, some people are like- try- trying to like, find him again. But, at the time I was still like, try- trying to say- to him like, I was still trying to… help Heavy out, like I was trying- trying to keep- him like, keep him- him sane.
But… he’s pretty much like cutted everybody that was trying to help him. And he said like, there- he can’t trust them anymore, which is kind of stupid. So yeah, he’s... pretty much accused Ellie of being a racist, and he has… cutted everybody from his life. So, he’s pretty much committed Internet suicide. Well who knows, he may have actually did commit sui- in-real-life suicide. I don’t really know.
