I don't see why we can't have a mix.
Once the trade deficits are addressed and we have a cleaner slate, start looking at what makes sense for us to produce and what doesn't make sense or isn't realistic.
E.g. we don't have a ton of places we can grow coffee except for Hawaii, so looser trade on that makes sense as it doesn't threaten a potential American industry.
We're completely capable of building cars here, so that industry should be protected especially because there's a big market for cars in the US given the size.
We want to build computer chips, tech, and AI for security reasons so that should also be protected and producers encouraged to set up shop here.
Maybe we want to restart some industries like cotton given a huge swath of the southern US can be used for it and we just need some factories.
Cockblock China on everything possible because they suck.
Cockblock everyone who doesn't want to address trade deficits or sky high tariffs or other refusal on American goods that isn't sensible.
Cockblock countries in the EU who don't align with our policies e.g. terrorizing their citizens and lack of free speech.

Given Trump is a business guy I doubt he would do completely one way or completely the other but some mix based on the strengths and weaknesses of the US and to reduce economic vulnerabilities.
My leather shoes, boots, and bomber jacket were made in either Spain or Mexico, although some of it is American leather, simply because those countries kept those industries and still make a good product. This isn't cheap shit Chinese bonded leather. Same thing with jeans, Wrangler's good jeans, the 13MWZ, is usually American denim made in Mexico, but it's also their cowboy cut, pro-rodeo jeans, 25% of their sales, and Mexicans love rodeos too. On my scale of where I prefer to spend my money, it's America First, but I'd rather Mexico over China. Also, if the Mexican economy does well it keeps them over there as opposed to border jumping. Win/Win, something the Chinks don't understand. Much like progtards, in game theory terms the mainland Chinks always Defect.

I think it's funny to see prices raise on things that are in no way related to tariffs. Much like covid, the real danger in any of this is people trying to take advantage of other peoples' sensationalism and fear.
Working in procurement, a lot of companies are using the tariffs to adjust for inflation, a few are being honest about it. Lumber is taking a beating, but the good news is that the mothballed lumber mills in America are being restarted and will be up relatively quickly. Paper mills too, but those are a longer process.

Also, all of the modern commies who tell you that Soviet Communism was a success because they industrialized an agrarian economy are wrong because American Capitalists were the ones who did the actual work.
The sad thing is that Russia was industrializing before the revolution and WWI, it was still lopsided in who benefitting, like any industrializing country. Given another decade or two and Russia would have eventually balanced that out, or if Kerensky's government hadn't been strangled by the Bolsheviks. Thanks Germany, good job with that one. Fucking retards.

Even if the UK comes to a deal with the US, we all know Games Workshop will raise prices by 20%
God Warhammer is so fucking gay. I have more respect towards Nintendo fags than them, and it's allready in the negative. Atleast Nintendo just fleeces you and turns your blood into soy. GW also pisses in your mouth, mocks you and somehow fleeces you much harder, for shit you can just 3d print for fractions of a penny on the dollar.

That mortgage is likely government backed.
And people will keep refusing to make the connection between housing shortages and mass immigration.
Let me change my statement then: non-citizens shouldn't be able to own land in the United States, and all loan officers who have signed off on mortgages for non-citizens should be hanged.

Like any expensive hobby, they developed a caste system. At the top are the guys that spend thousands of dollars buying official models, paints, books, brushes, etc. At the bottom are people that 3d print, use proxies, and download pdf versions of the books. The people at the top are often insufferable. The people at the bottom are fine.

If greedy American fools hadn't helped the communists industrialize their country, the Cold War would not have happened. All of the "experts" who told us outsourcing to China would cause them to liberalize were obviously wrong AT THE TIME, because the same thing had been attempted with the Soviet Union decades earlier and the promised liberalization never occurred.

Wow congrats you “industrialized” a single fucking economy its too bad the entire usst is dead and no one outside of mentally ill fags care.

Disappointing thread derail, you didn't even make a joke about their whales.

Oh, and Montag doesn't even have a wife. She's a really pathetic character, and we can't have women be pathetic, can we? She would have actually been relevant to the modern ennui of the consoomer. Having everything she could ever want, and still trying to kill herself. No awesome blood-vacuum scene either.
The wife is the most resonant part of Fahrenheit 451 in retrospect. From what I recall, she sits in her living room all day watching tv melodramas with some form of slight viewer input, with the show being on huge screens taking up all the walls. She has no interest in society or the world, and what's going on in the screen occupies all of her thought and attention.

She's basically a vapid bugman today with extreme parasocial tendencies who watches live streams on a screen during their free time while getting dopamine hits by inputting chat messages and donations.

But portraying that would hit a little too close to home. You can't commercialize an art piece for the masses if it might make them think a little bit about their life. Better to burn those pages out of the story so people don't get the wrong ideas. Wait, I think I've read a book about something like that before....
