Yeah, that would be tough, probably 48 hours straight driving. I would have to start after a full 8 hours sleep.

I rigorously comply will all traffic regulations, since the repeal of the national 55mph limit, most highway travel is between 70-85 mph(112 kph- 135kph).
No matter how you time it your going to eat up hours in traffic in New England or around Chicago. Then getting across Cali in to LA.
And good luck if your doing more then 1 mph over in Ohio with out of state plates.
I think 50hrs is a safe bet with team drivers. Ive driven from NYC to Las Vegas and it took me 3 days really pushing it.

There was literally no traffic during covid which is why it's so fast
Ya I was about to reply that. The highways where completely empty and cops where just not pulling anyone over because they feared the coof. The records where beat down a few times during covid. And they where using modified cars with extra fuel tanks. IIRC current record holders had an AVERAGE speed of 110mph with a peak speed at 175mph. And they where only stationary for 20 something mins in the whole trip for a fuel stop.

Posters in the Musk thread are saying that The Muskrat has forgotten his place by going against Trump like this. I suppose it makes sense - it's his thread, so the posters there hate him, but I think they are misreading the situation.

I think this is also Trump's end goal. First, make it crystal clear that the tariffs are only reciprocal, e.g. you get rid of your tariffs and I'll get rid of mine, and then we usher in an era of prosperous free trade between the USA and its allies.

Only with its allies, not with Chaaaaaiiiina.

I'm not sure where I stand on the free trade. On one hand, I really like the idea of being able to buy the best products from across the globe, but on the other, some posters in this thread have made a very strong case for protectionism. Isn't it tragic that kids and Nintoddlers all over the world exclusively play games on an imported Japanese Nintendo Switch? Where is the competing American-made Hicktendo Moonshine with Jazz Jackrabbit 4?

Oh, and I had to look it up but Ritter Sport is in fact German-made. Very delicious too.

But kudos to Milka for fooling so many people lol.

The gayest thing about Redditors turning American products upside-down has to be that they really don't have to bother. The infinity reciprocal tariffs will make it really obvious which products are from where, really soon.

Again assuming these retards have actually read Fahrenheit 451. They haven’t made a modern remake of it with brown people and trannys yet have they?
I regret to inform you that the worst part about the remake is that it does not even include the mechanical hound.

Even though it's politically and thematically outdated, I love that novel as a sci-fi art piece and the hound is the best part. They could have made one with CGI, and say that it injects you with a lethal dose of fentanyl instead of the vague "super strong opioid" lol.

Oh, and Montag doesn't even have a wife. She's a really pathetic character, and we can't have women be pathetic, can we? She would have actually been relevant to the modern ennui of the consoomer. Having everything she could ever want, and still trying to kill herself. No awesome blood-vacuum scene either.

In the remake, the resistance wins by giving birds autism and I refuse to elaborate further. You'll just have to torture yourself by watching it for yourself.

Your analysis is otherwise pretty good, but draftees during Vietnam were mostly boomers.

The draft has a maximum age limit and skews younger even within its age range. 19 and 20 year olds were drafted at much higher rates.

There's an important difference between whether or not the median boomer went, and whether or not the median draftee was a boomer.
And all those boomers hated the hippies and voted for Nixon.

Hippies were the antifa of their day, right down to being a tiny portion of the population beloved by the Democrat elite and hated by literally everyone else.

Remember, the reaction to Kent State from the public wasn’t “how could our troops gun down peaceful protestors?” but rather “why didn’t they kill all of them?”

Making America a more viable place to export from helps the domestic economy, and China is still the largest trading partner with the US, so cutting them off as well as cutting off any of their attempts to circumvent our laws, will still have a large effect.

I believe the desire to decouple the US and China is mutual at this point. The last 5 years showed America how perilous it is to rely on a foreign rival for so many vital goods. As for China, they know what happened to Russian assets owned overseas can easily happen to them if relations get too frosty, or western governments find a justification. Both would benefit from isolating themselves from each other.

I don't see why we can't have a mix.
Once the trade deficits are addressed and we have a cleaner slate, start looking at what makes sense for us to produce and what doesn't make sense or isn't realistic.
E.g. we don't have a ton of places we can grow coffee except for Hawaii, so looser trade on that makes sense as it doesn't threaten a potential American industry.
We're completely capable of building cars here, so that industry should be protected especially because there's a big market for cars in the US given the size.
We want to build computer chips, tech, and AI for security reasons so that should also be protected and producers encouraged to set up shop here.
Maybe we want to restart some industries like cotton given a huge swath of the southern US can be used for it and we just need some factories.
Cockblock China on everything possible because they suck.
Cockblock everyone who doesn't want to address trade deficits or sky high tariffs or other refusal on American goods that isn't sensible.
Cockblock countries in the EU who don't align with our policies e.g. terrorizing their citizens and lack of free speech.

Given Trump is a business guy I doubt he would do completely one way or completely the other but some mix based on the strengths and weaknesses of the US and to reduce economic vulnerabilities.

Niggas be oscillating between "President Musk" and "Musk is going to be fired by Trump" like quantum states. 6 months to do a standard corporate downsizing is more than enough time for Musk, Twitter took him what, a week? I'm starting to feel bad for the hugboxers, they're getting gaslit into the nuthouse.

I think it's funny to see prices raise on things that are in no way related to tariffs. Much like covid, the real danger in any of this is people trying to take advantage of other peoples' sensationalism and fear.
Retail is probably making a ton of money right now because of all the fear mongering and increased demand.

I'm actually not sure how much China wants to decouple at this point. It's more or less a race against the clock for them, to get enough internal political and economic stability to not implode upon decoupling. There's also a hard-cap on this, in that the U.S. economy will eventually implode, itself, if it doesn't decouple. The main question is: how stable is China, and can it come out of a decoupling without any issues. It's hard to gauge because the actual internal situation in China is impossible to see. They keep a lot of data hidden, and they propagandize a lot. However, that doesn't mean that they aren't in a good spot. It just means we won't know until shit happens and we see whether China is left standing.

It's not like they aren't used to narrative whiplash. The Muller shit, the Biden-to-Harris nomination, to-mask-or-not-to-mask, etc.
It's really easy to oscillate your narrative when you have no moral foundation.
