Cartoon Industry thread - Showcasing the Spergery of the Animation Industry

LoL, niggers.
I was starting to wonder where all the Win or Lose fanart was. Genuinely thought no one cared since I heard no buzz about it the whole time it was out.
Dumblr and insane people Xitter, of course.
A heartwarming story of a Christian girl learning how to Talmud with "Hey! *Technically* it's still a guy!"
So it's a kikeniggerfaggot?

Tragically, the only buzz I remember is a small section of Xitter being horny for one girl’s mom.
It is with great pain that I bring the news that some people are thirsty for the Grub Hub mom.

Can this trend of twerking in children’s cartoons fucking die already? I did not need to see this blob lady throwing it back in her daughter’s face!
I still can’t believe I had to see that with mine own two eyes. Imagine thirstposting over a chick who looks like a thumb. If that’s “bad af” you need better taste.

This kickstarter is really failing hard isn't it...

Guess I'll post it.

Far-Fetched Kickstarter pitch just dropped an hour ago.

The animation is nice, sure. But I still have no idea what this show is about or why I should care about any of the characters or what they're doing. I've watched the pilot teaser a few times over the last 3 years and it's just a mess. But idk. Does anyone here actually like what it's about? It just feels like another indie animation project for the audience of "college-aged indie animation enthusiasts" instead of an actual... you know... audience. Or an audience of people with money for that matter.

From the Kickstarter page:
Our series follows Rue, a walking quarter-life crisis and proud new owner of a mistakenly unleashed DeviantArt sparkle-creature named Kira. With her life in shambles, childhood friend and hubris incarnate Quinn drags her into his band Sesamoid, with fellow members Piper, Warren and Griff.

In our pilot, Sesamoid attempts to document the making of their first music video at an abandoned summer camp. Before they can even begin filming, multiple terrifying creatures emerge from the woods to try and kill them. Can this band of idiots escape with their lives? And more importantly… usable footage?

Throughout the show, the Sesamoid gang embark on a rocky road to relevance in an ancient ice cream truck, but soon learn their hometown of Veilport is far more than meets the eye, becoming unwilling participants in a battle between science and the supernatural.

In other words, it’s basically Scooby-Doo meets Resident Evil, but for people who shop at Hot Topic. We’ve done everything we can to really capture the feel of a 1980’s horror comedy set in the gothic/nerd culture of the mid-2000’s.
I can at least see the appeal in the artstyle and character designs (for one, it's not calarts for the billionth time and looks more angular and realistically proportioned), but again, a lot of this description could be simplified to just "Scooby-Doo, but 2000s goth", rather than dancing around throwing out all these terms expecting people to automatically recognize all of it.

I think a good thing to compare it to would be the recent Class of 09 pilot, which is also going for a 2000s-throwback approach:

EDIT: I just found out Ashley Nichols and Dave Capdevielle of Hazbin Hotel fame are the main heads of this. That explains a lot.

LoL this video got a suicide hotline blurb for me. And I didn't know a """wacky""" game like Class of '09 had an anime. Interesting...

How did Michael Cusack come out of this cesspool of retardery? How has independent animation become so retarded that a fucking suburban Australian is the best cartoon-maker and only guy who does his job since Ugly Americans?
Maybe things are so fucking bad that a show with a really "stale" (let's admit: is NOT a good looking show, it looks like a teenager designed it), BUT with original and creative ideas came out on top.

You know, the idea of this Kickstarter has always baffled me, but I never checked the project myself. So who knows, maybe they can do something fun with these little PSAs in mind.

Let's see...

>"These shorts became a viral sensation, garnering MILLIONS of views across all social media, with translations into Spanish and French, and eventually creating the #UnionYaoi fandom..."
>"The shorts will feature the same trio of characters, the titular Umbert Actually, his beloved but dopey husband Misterman Guyfella, and their easily corruptable son Timbert!"
>"(We'll also show them smooching most likely)"

...Why did I expect anything different.

>"We're going to be covering a broader range of topics, such as media literacy, the history of animation, and the problems plaguing the production of anime, video games, and other forms of entertainment."

Hey, that's interes-

>"With our funding goal, we hope to produce eight more of these one-minute shorts."

...

>MFW people are asking 90k dollars for a crappy animated fujo fanfic with a total runtime of 8 MINUTES.

On principle, you could argue that 8 minutes for 90k ain't that bad all things considered. In practice... It's 90k for a bunch of "Superfriends PSA" TikToks with 100% more gay men in it. Just treat your money with more respect man.

Wow, it's faggotry with even more faggotry. How starved/bored are people? It is a spiritual problem, not a desire to be entertained.

I thought I'd be happy seeing indies have an easier time making their own shows than ever these days, they don't have to censor for any network and can easily achieve quality far better than a Nintendo parody in Flash from 2002. But I'm not. Their ideas are shit and boring, it's like it's just for them and their 10 Discord friends whose only form of humor are internet memes, right gaiz??? Lolsorandumb but with with ironic post 2016 depression. Telling me your cartoon is DeviantArt tier on purpose doesn't make me want to watch it. DA and sparkledogs are deader than disco and haven't wrapped around to being cool again yet, I feel like if I asked some Zoomer-Alpha cusp (maybe more Gen Alpha) they'd be like "what the fuck is DeviantArt, I have coomcord already" and then they'd shun it for ArtStation if they're serious.

I appreciate animation as an artform and anime is equally cancerous, so sometimes I check in to see if there's any good western cartoons but they all have weird symbol designs like Baldi's Basics fucked Undertale and some kind of lore like a linear ARG. Or they want me to go 'MEMBER CURRENT YEAR MINUS 10? I DO TOO! And all the 25-35 yr old artfags making shit are today's 25-35 year old artfags, so they're all neurotic unconfident losers who can't be sincere for their lives. Telling a basic fucking story about a hero who finds a sword to kill a dragon to save the kingdom without trying to trick or preach at me is beyond these people.

I don't mean to be rude or anything, but we're kinda coming up on DeviantArt's peak (late 2000s - early 2010s) being 20 years in the rear view mirror.

Honestly, in my fucking opinion. 2000s-2010s were the best years of Animation, not because I am biased and was born in 2004. No, it feels that way with games and music too. Nothing could ever capture that essence at all. Unless, if you were born in that era and still retained the cringe meter and haven't trooned out and revolved your life around SJWShit. Or you yourself grew up during that era born in the superior 90s. I feel as though that Cel Animation was the peak of Animation before they dropped off to make Digital stuff.

One of these days, I hope to recapture Cel Animation in the year 2025, but that'll be a couple of Dragon Ball GTs becoming canon before that happens. Only a optimistic fag can hope.

Guess I'll post it.

Apparently it's already reached it's goal after only a few hours.
