Blue-collar jobs can have a stigma attached to them. They can be perceived in such a way due to societal and generational perceptions. Maybe it has to do with relatively easy access to higher education or the idea that traditionally white-collar work pays more and manual labor by comparison isn't worth it to work in because of profitability and potential health issues.

It makes me miss the previous decades when falling from something you should not have climbed and breaking an arm or leg was almost a rite of passage for a young boy. There would be no lawsuits or guilt-tripping Karens demanding the kids and playground equipment be coated in bubble wrap. The dad would have a conversation with the kid, making sure the boy understood just exactly where his risk judgement went wrong, and had learned to better judge risks. The mom would focus on helping her kid deal with the injury and heal properly.
