The Economic Collapse of 2025 - Are you tired of winning yet?

Google AI slop, there haven't been official diplomatic relations with Iran since before most of you guys were born, everything goes through proxies, just like Cuban cigars and tourism goes through Canada.
I don't know if anyone got around to pointing it out to you, but the US does in deed trade with Iran. Primary US exports to Iran are medical equipment and supplies.

The US even trades with North Korea. The primary US import from NK is plastic pipe, though god knows why.

I have worked with Chinese importers actually, Huis. They were fine people. Maybe for imports where QA is necessary like steel it's a different story, but for plastic shit they are very reliable, competition between factories is extremely cutthroat so they'll bend over to get your business.
I highly doubt anyone has any more experience in this thread with the Chinese Supply Chain than I do. Sure, their products range from adequate to even good but that's not the problem I'm talking about. The supply chain itself is completely fucking broken. The Chinese cannot handle any of even the most basic of logistical issues. They are unironically zog tier retards and are so disorganized it's not even funny. Their logistics aren't there and they haven't been there for thousands of years and that's why they would lose a war to the US every single time. Their armies just aren't nearly as efficient or as smart at basic problem solving than Americans are. Work with international anything long enough and you'll come to understand that outside of a few key places, the rest of the world is genuinely just dumber than the US. There's no ifs, ands, or butts about it. Most of the world is just dumber than the average US citizen and that certainly includes your average chink.

Just stating the facts about the US-Japan trade relationship? Are you high or something?

Mate I'll spell it out for You

You said that Japan needs to lower its trade surplus with the us to lower tariffs

I was pointing put these a country with a trade deficit with the us that still got a tariff placed upon it therefore there's no negotiating your way out of these tariffs it would seem

You then told me I was wrong despite you having completely missed the point I made

Cry more. America WILL be reindustrilzed. I don't care what it takes.
I ain't crying, I just think your ideas are more romanticized than realistic. Whether America prospers or burns to the ground, it's gonna be more grounded than thinking you'll seize a foreign market you've historically failed to penetrate, no matter how much the idea tickles your pickle.

How are we supposed to peel countries away from China's orbit when we treat them like this? The only country with any optimism so far seems to be the Philippines. NYT: Trump’s Tariffs Will Pummel Asia. But One Country Sees Opportunity.
The Philippines may be the only government in the world that has called Mr. Trump’s tariffs “good news.” Speaking hours after Mr. Trump announced them last week, a press officer for the Philippines government said the impact of tariffs would be “very minimal,” adding that “we may also gain investors from countries that have greater tariffs.”

Looked it up and found out there's going to be more tariffs on pharmaceuticals on the way. We need to stop relying on other countries to make medicine and medical supplies, but tariffs seem like a bad idea. This is stuff a significant amount of Americans need to stay alive.

Now I am seeing people say they want to be the world’s factory. It’s odd because the types of products that they will be making are essentially useless. Cheap plastic stuff that is cheap and you will be paid pennies on the dollar to make. It’s odd seeing people say “well no It’ll be good for America to be a slave state where we pump out meaningless junk to the rest of the world.” The issue sane people have with the tariffs is that they’re done with no critical thinking. Just blanket tariffs made by holding numbers up to a mirror. I can’t fathom why people are okay with it.
The United States does not need eighty-seven LLC corporations named shit like JMEXSUS and GOOVYSLA producing Christmas lights that are identical in design, function poorly, ignore safety standards and put more effort into juggling 5-star product pages on Amazon (leading to confusing instances of things such as a page for Christmas lights having reviews praising the quality of dog food) than actually making the damn lights work. This is a consequence of Chinese markets, not something we require.

You do realize the latter is an event horizon that results in hundreds of thousands dead right? There is a reason nobody wants to resort to that.
Yeah I do. Which is why I said it in the order I did. But so long as there is a belief you'll never resort to that, why should they take you seriously?

Your country was founded because your people (as part of the British Empire) correctly decided the Colonies were getting fucked over by the British and spoke up. It was the Brits who brought the gun powder to the party, your founders just answered in kind. Speak up, organize and know that if push came to shove you can shove back. Not a lot of other countries have the ability to do that, as neither speech or arms are protected rights. You have the ability to speak and the numbers to be heard with the option to fight for it if the other party decides to shoot first. By not organizing and communicating this under the legal protections afforded to you by your constitution you haven't exercised either right effectively.

You people are trapped in the 90s, which is kinda appropriate given that you'll be getting the 90s Russia experience soon enough.
Wrong. This is a course correction for 30 years of 90's End-of-History Polyanna nonsense.

If we were still "stuck in the 90s", we'd double and triple down on offshoring to China because "it'll bring Democracy and lower costs!"

I was pointing put these a country with a trade deficit with the us that still got a tariff
Countries that the US has a trade deficit with — that is, countries where the US imports from more than they export to — are the ones getting hit with the higher than 10% base rate. Japan exports more goods to the US than they import. Therefore, they get a higher tariff.

I already posted an article that shows that this is the case. You can look up the tariff algorithm yourself as well.

You seem to be under the impression that Japan is like the UK and Australia, who DO import from the US more than they export. You are wrong, “mate”. They are not.

People really need to consider the idea that all the reindustrialization talk is mostly just PR, and that really the purpose of this large tax increase is to raise revenue for the government. See, I've been watching Trump's second term, and what I am seeing is austerity.

"Austerity refers to a set of economic policies that a government implements to control public sector debt, often involving spending cuts, tax increases, or a combination of both."

The DOGE stuff was about spending cuts, and the tariffs are a tax increase.

Pretty much all the stuff the US imports is still going to be imported, just with large taxes on it now. I don't know why people think that a shrinking economy is going to be great for reindustrialization, except for the fact that this was the PR campaign behind these huge new taxes. Basically if you are an American you are either going to have less savings, or less food and other goods. But you are still going to be buying your goods from poor countries where they are manufactured (or grown or fished) because it's still going to be cheaper than making them in the US. Besides, since the US economy is going to shrink quite a bit, there is going to be less available capital to build industries in the US. I mean I haven't heard that "All the money from the tariffs will go to subsidize US reindustrialization," or that even any of it will go to that, have you? It's just a tax increase to get more money from you and give it to the government. That's what it's about, it's not that complicated really.
