The Economic Collapse of 2025 - Are you tired of winning yet?

I just had a little look-see about the US-Mexican automotive trade relationship, and a quick google search is telling me that Mexico exported $137b in automotive goods while only importing $33b.

What that means is that $104b of the $170b trade deficit the US has with Mexico is the auto industry. Very interesting.
Maybe because the average mexican doesn't have the purchasing power of an average american so they can't afford the pile of dogshit known as fully made in the US cars?
The reason is manufacturing moved there for cheaper labor.
GM started outsourcing to Mexico because of NAFTA, and that caused "American" cars to decline in quality.

Globalization and enshittification are directly related.

nah, it's more like 15%, china has been trying to diversify too.
If that's true (it might be, I'm seeing numbers between 18% and 14%, the number has definitely shrank since 2019) then that's all the more convincing. China is looking to divorce itself from the United States during a promised "economic rival". Kick the ladder out from under them. The world doesn't benefit from their success.

Anyone thinking this is long term is retarded.

Most of this will be over within a year. Trump will take some concessions and some promises of foreign investment and go home.

There is no substitute for the largest consumer market, and there is no appetite in the US to drag this out further.
I agree with this mostly, but he's had a long-term goal of fucking over the PRC royally for years and years now. Trade relations with most nations will be back to normal relatively soon, but not the PRC. This is part of a long-term strategy to either destroy them outright, or damage them as much as possible. They're the enemy and they will continue to be treated as such.

The problem is that we have no idea what the “path to victory” is. The administration has not put out a coherent plan for returning manufacturing back to the US besides the pressure of tariffs.

Economies fear uncertainty. Without any sort of outline for how to reshape the American economy, panic will set in. Investment will slow down. Consumption will drop. Businesses will fail.

The economy can bounce back if there was just a simple guide for what can be done to fix the downturn. If there was trust and support from the administration to do something to keep the American economy afloat.

The only messages that has come out from the administration and its talking heads is that you will suffer. You will just have to bear the pain of higher prices for an unspecified amount of time and then you will be rich. If that’s the only signal for the future, then no shit, people are going to panic.
Currently countries are lining up to cut deals before tarrifs turbo fuck them. The uncertainty is part of the plan. This will only last as long as other countries are retarded. It's a bet that the US can remain solvent longer than the world can remain retarded. We can. No matter what wall street says. Main Street is still solid. We will survive. The world won't if they don't capitulate.

Look man, I get it’s gonna be hard for a lot of people. But a lot of other people, the majority in fact, are already going through hard times and they desperately need a change of system so that their future can be better than how things were going.
Exactly. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result.

I'm willing to try a new economic strategy than the one that's only made things worse over my lifetime.

yes they do, there is a bunch of shit that was out of the budget of a lot of people that the chinese sell for very cheap.

But my line, it must go up. Why can't you just keep tolerating a system that has been grinding everyone except the Bezos class into dust? Sure at this rate soon only welfare queens and billionaires will be able to afford procreation BUT MY LINE

lol is this supposed to be some kind of nuclear own? because right now these people are just overdosing on oxy because their lives and the lives of everyone around them are fucked beyond their ability to cope with it. I fail to see how this represents a dystopian alternative.
I was talking with my co-worker about this very thing and his claim was even if the jobs came back they wouldnt be good jobs and Americans wouldn't do them.

First things first, Americans will do whatever it takes to sit on their ass and engorge themselves watching sports and porn. If that means getting up and working 8 hours a day thats what they'll do, Americas want to work contrary to popular belief, theres just no jobs that pay wages that will allow Americans to prosper, so why work 40-50 hrs a week just to be able to survive when you can do that by sitting on your ass and doing absolutely nothing while collecting welfare. You see this whenever ICE makes a big raid of a factory/business and clears out the illegals, Americans will line up around the block to take those jobs.

He and people like this fail to recognize that the jobs that are available right now are just as shitty if not worse. I would love for someone to look me in the eye and with a straight face say driving for uber or working for Taco Bell are better jobs than factory jobs.

While true, the Mexicans only made the American cars piles of dog shit because they make majority of our cars and parts. They're pretty much solely responsible for it. There's only one efficient Mexican factory. I can't remember which car company it is, but only one managed to tard wrangle the Mexicans to do a good job. Everyone else failed.

I'm pretty sure it's done to have better deals on the table, and to have a growing economy again. You can't just not do anything anymore and no one else seems to have a better plan either.

It's tiring to see person after person saying "NO YOU CAN'T DO THAT" after years of hearing how everything is shittier than ever. Finally, we have at least ONE dude who is trying to do something about it. It's much better than just slowly walking into the meat grinder.

It's also interesting how people will advocate for literal slavery just to have cheap shit. The part that they never think about is how it's going to get harder to compete to the point where they'll have to become slaves to be able to compete with the cheap labour that they love so much.

People just happened to forget about COVID and how they literally told us that they were planning to have us live in pods and to never own anything ever again. That's literally where we were headed, and still are if this doesn't work but at least something is being done about it.
