This thread proves that most people are incapable of thinking further than here and now. I think it's pretty clear that Trump is making moves with the assumption of what's going to come next rather than what'll happen right away, even if whatever he is thinking that's gonna happen may be unrealistic. Putting a whole bunch of tariffs on all countries pushed them to have some talks about how to solve it another way and gave them a reminder that the US has a ton of leeway over them. They got the message, 90 day pause to figure things out so the trades will be mutually beneficial in the long run. It's not that he "cucked out", it was meant to be a scare tactic to give the world a kick in the ass.
However it's clear the main hard-on is against China, which is rightful, China has subsidized most of the world including the US. China has subsidized the world including the US. Like others have said, the US would need a massive long term plan to restart local production of everything, and by slamming a major 125% tariff against China, it'll do a lot of immediate, as well as medium to long term damage since everything is being made in China, which is why everything is so cheap. Doesn't seem like he has a plan for that either, so this'll be the real interesting part. Assuming that he won't actually cuck out of the tariffs on China. And yes, this would be a cuck out, since he first went with the hardest one against them, and after the initial reaction he backed out of the smaller ones against Europe and so on, but doubled down on China, meaning that tariff fucking China was his main plan that most likely will backfire.
