Devil May Cry to get an animated series from creator of Castlevania Netflix series - Bootleg Multiverse

Definitely the same school of 'Endless subversion, no matter how or where, is good."

Not a single moment can end satisfactorily, not a single character can be authentic, not a single redemption can play out normally and not a single hero can be genuinely heroic without a subversion coming right after. It's garbage.
Welp, I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to appeal to people like this guy?

Well, this is definitely skip for me since I just got Netflix. Anything else to recommend?
On Netflix? Trailer Park Boys, IT Crowd, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Arrested Development (first three seasons only) Futurama.

Avoid anything with the Netflix Original label unless you have an extremely high tolerance for woke nonsense.

based on his handling of DMC and other projects, I think he liked that aspect. He just didn’t like when the cobra bit him.
Yeah, I don't buy this idea that Adi was against anything that showed up in DMC, especially when it comes to making Alucard a gay buttsex lover. With Lazerhawk the Indian self insert he has is in a gay relationship with a big buff guy. We are talking sex scenes, frequent kissing scenes, the works.

The only reason he is calling Ellis out and trying to pretend like he was always at odds with him is because Ellis is cancelled and Adi wants to rewrite history to make himself look better. It's a very Indian thing, they're a lot like Jews in that respect.

This is so gay and retarded because almost everything Dante does is something you can replicate in the game, you just have to be actually good at the game to do those things.

what you can do in the games can become far more absurd then what dante does in cutcenes, just looking at skill videos of the games shows how overpowered the characters are. hell, just getting enemy step and airhike is enough to never even touch the ground, and you don't even need skill to do it. if you master the more out there weapons like faust in 5 you can not only dance around the enemies while getting showered in red orbs, you can also make them dance with hats on do doing the thriller.

Netflix Castlevania is one of the few things that legit gets me pissed off. With most bad media and retarded adaptations, I shrug and move on with my life, but CV was just insulting.

I just didn't think it was possible to equal that kind of bullshit again but here we are with DMC. I already had cringe on the bingo card of what to expect with the gay ass Limp Bizkit song as an opening but the second the rabbit guy started talking about America it was all down hill and that was the very first line of the show.

Alright here's my little autistic analysis/recap of the characters and the show.

Dante
1000014467.png

They went for a younger, bit more cocky version of his DMC3 incarnation. Think DmC but more in line with the lore. Id say they got him pretty accurate, and that's probably the most insulting thing to the fans considering he's something of a chew toy in this season. He's got no agency, he's out of focus and the story is framed in such a way that he's herded to situations like a cat. That being said, I did really like how he was able to consistently save civilians and kick ass. The only thing really different about the character was the fact he doesn't have ebony and ivory, so there's a running gag of him breaking the pistol triggers and getting new ones. He's a bit less stylish then the games and more quippy, but I think the deadpool comparison is unfair. Part of me wonders, if people would have liked the series more or less if the character was as different as DmC Dante.

Lady
1744242188320.png

Wooo boy. She was the most divisive character bar none. The difference between enjoying or hating this series is in your appraisal of her. For all intents and purposes she's a completely different character that very loosely follows DMC3's idea of a hot chick with mild daddy issues and a chip on her shoulder. She favors a two gun pistol style with a couple tricks such as rocket boots and power armor. Only briefly at the end does she whip out the bazooka bayonet. I enjoyed her performance. Yeah she takes up a lot of focus, yeah she has a creatively fowl vocabulary, but I thought her fight scenes were great and I liked her voice. Nu lady is the poster girl for Ridiculously excessive bad bitch energy and I guess Im into that. I liked how a lot of her fights were won by skill and guile as opposed to the universe bending over for her, and she gets her ass kicked around a decent amount. Her flashback episode with Arkham while completely different from the lore (he's a well meaning scientist that goes insane from trying to find a way to gain power) was excellent and probably the best episode of the season. The most unkind thing I can say is that she believes the whole demon sob story a little too quick and sappy, but props to the flashback actually showing her shooting demon civies in the back with explosive rounds. One interesting aspect that I hope isn't overlooked in season 2, is the rabbit implying she was brainwashed into working for Darkcom. It would be funny if they backpaddle the cursing onto that excuse.

US Vice President William Baines

Im not gonna lie. The entire reason I was hyped to watch this show was because it was Kevin Conroy's last performance. I was not disappointed in the slightest. There's maybe one or two lines he didn't get to finish in post but this is a pretty complete Avatar style Batman performance and I loved every second of it. He's the Gendo, he's the quaritch, he is the motherfucking batman and he is here for the holy war to spread the Lord's will and kill the demons. (The fact that they actually made one of the darkcom mooks look like nightwing was hilarious too.) Does he derail the universe and completely change the tone? ABSOLUTELY, absolutely. As a character he is completely unnecessary. You didn't need to have a human leading a team of paranormal military ops to steal a lot of the show from dante. But they made the best casting choice possible for me to go along with it and I hope they can get another batman actor or someone even remotly as good as conroy for S2.

Rabbit man

1744244834566.png

Best part of the show Hands down. I think his character was legitimately the best original element, and I thought that he was consistently well written and acted. A real threat, a bit chilling and above all, batshit. He had good fights, good kills and even if the overall refugee demon plot was considered shit, he did a pretty dam good job selling it as a motivation even when other characters correctly call him insane for it. My favorite aspect was him laying jabs at Dante whenever he could about his father Sparda. He really likes going for psychological warfare at times. A pretty decent final boss.

Virgil

1744245573754.png

If there's one thing Im going to critize the shit out of its Virgil. His role or rather nonexistnt role in the plot makes no sense. Why the hell isnt he on the frontlines? Why isn't he doing shit? What's keeping him from taking the rabbits place and unsealing hell? I dont even care that he's working for Mundus willingly, there's enough leeway on that plot point im willing to see where they go with it. But they stupidly have him meet with the rabbit at the end to give him some blood and don't do anything with it. Is he supposed to be some honor weeb now or does he not want to fight Dante? It's stupid, and I gotta say the end stinger with him was silly.

Sparda

1744246308930.png

Im actually very interested to see what they do with him with another season. I dont think the location of Sparda and what happened to him was ever hinted at or elaborated in the games. As controversial as it is, I think it's a neat idea for the rabbit to suggest he wasn't entirely noble.

I think I know what they are going to do with him and where he is. Im not taking credit for this theory and your all probably going to absolutely hate it but I think
They are going to reveal that VP baines is Sparda. It's completely batshit, but it fits if you consider he kinda looks like his human form from 4 and it would explain him wanting to win over dante. Now as to why he suddenly loves christ and wants to exterminate demons... I dunno maybe he's got amnesia? It's stupid enough for me to want to watch eagerly.

The Demons
1744247368250.png
1744247503999.png

There's two kinds of demons. The one's we all know and love that are evil as shit and look evil as shit. And then there's the star trek reptile/orc aliens. Im glad they didn't try to paint the evil demons as dindos, they are portrayed in all situations as a hungry beastly evil. but then there's the avatar alien demons who might as well be from another world entirely. They are ok, dont really have much of a personality beyond not being evil though. So that's a ticking narrative time bomb they need to defuse or blow up somehow. I dont really have much to say about the bosses I havent already said, they do their job and then they die. Although the bit of moralizing by one eye right before he kills himself like an idiot was pretty stupid.

DMC2

1744246433327.png
1744246493808.png

I dont know what the hell they are smoking but apparently they want to lean into the plot ofDMC 2 for season 2. lovingly known as the worst game of the series. im excited. Can you imagine them making Dante an edge lord when he gets busted out? Not sure if it's a great idea, in fact it's probably really fucking terrible, but im looking forward to it.

Bonus

Story: I think if they had modified or cut the presentation of the demon refugee stuff, it would have been received better. Maybe made it clear that what they thought was "hell" was an intermediate world or sort of purgatory between earth and hell to better justify having good guy aliens/monsters/demons. As it is , I dont really think the story and pacing is bad. Its a good framework with a bad narrative decision. They have a good villain and they have a good hero surrounded by anti heros. As a fan of the franchise who doesn't really take the lore as gospel, I think its fine if you shut your brain off and laugh at the stupid shit.

Soundtrack: I hated the opening. I dont know what the hell they were thinking, I literally thought it was a placeholder when they first previewed it. Aside from that, I thought the themes were fine. There was a lot of bitching about them using devil trigger as Dante's theme but considering Johnny yong is doing the voice I didn't mind. Now they definitely should have used Dante's actual themes from 3, that was a serious misstep and they lost a lot of points for that.

I can see this because Ellis is a POS who is literally responsible for a lot of the bedlamites who destroyed American comics.

HOWEVER, it was known what type of writer/person he was well before he joined on. S1 & 2 have spiteful cracks in them that spit in the face of the canon. Adi should’ve had a problem then, but, based on his handling of DMC and other projects, I think he liked that aspect. He just didn’t like when the cobra bit him.
I don't think adi really knows how to say no.

I think the funniest shit to come out of this on twitter is the original creator calling everyone who brings up the show to him bugs and parasites before blocking them.

Well again, this is what that dude had to say on that front (and I wouldn't be surprised if this show is trying to appeal to him).

They really called Adi a "visionary" in the poster huh

But with how a season was announced this quick, I believe it was funded already

I enjoy both sides of the discourse and look forward to the shitshow to come. Perhaps lessons will be learned...

Hahahaha let's fucking go you Indian idiot! Let's do it!

The second season was inevitable, Nexflix loves ordering a regular full seasons worth of episodes, between 12-24, and then chop it up into baby seasons. It's apart of the binging model they're very married to. Just awful, I can't wait to see how much more they'll bastardize this IP.
Maybe Capcom will announce the 6th game in the mean time and it will be a pallet cleanser.

I have one extremely FAINT hope that they recorded most of Conroy's lines in advance

I have this ominous feeling that if they ever do a 6th installment, it will be shit.
I've been hearing rumors they are remaking 1. Adi was coy about something in this tweet

You guys did not do a good enough job elaborating how both hamfisted and cringeworthy the "politics" was in this show.

I thought that was hilarious. It's pretty fucking stupid but I rolled with it. The politics besides that are early 2000s to the max. It's too dated to be offensive to me. Also he left out the scene after that cuts to a dude in the white house saying "we think demons attacked the Vatican, not the Russians".

You could make the case that the president is a trump parody, but he looks and sounds more like a gay Dum Dum Dugan. About the only other direct political thing besides the insane ending of the series is VP Batman saying he's the president, as he picks the donors and runs everything, so I guess he's Dick Cheney Batman

Unironically the part where America invades Hell makes me wish something like Helldivers had a mission to invade Hell and take names. And from there is actual delightful irony that Merrica made Spess Mehreens look like little bitches.

1744324346511.png

Turns out all you need to do to make a bitch out of Satan is just be a red blooded American, have a ton of patriotism and a love for guns and heavy munitions... Compare this with the Abyssal Crusade where only one chapter survived and the rest turn evil. Fuck. I'd watch the hell out of a show about America beating the shit out of Hell. Bring on the warcrimes!

So its the same deal as the shitty Scooby Doo cartoon. That did one good thing. It redeemed Scrappy Cornelius Doo. He went from hated character to hero. After all, he succeeded in killing the show's self-insert. Real Asperchu energy there.

Either way its gonna be on the same level as the Resident Evil Movies involving Mila. Total official fanfiction.

I have this ominous feeling that if they ever do a 6th installment, it will be shit.
Now that Hideaki Itsuno (former director of the Devil May Cry series) is gone, i cant help to feel that DMC6 will be cursed in some way.

Hell, we already saw the cracks in 5 by turning Morrison black, Nichole being a jew and giving Trish the ugly stick.

Shankar has this desperate aura of wanting to be cool thats always surrounding him. Literal embodiment of DMC DMC Dante tbh.

Which honestly fits him because his writing style is like hes a ninth grader that was forced to go to Sunday School by his Mom. The Excess swearing, the constant Christianity and America bashing etc. All fit that perfectly.
