Farmers, ranchers, agrarian people generally like daylight savings time. I am one of them, and I hate it. Nothing stupider than getting up to feed animals at 6, just to have total darkness because of a government time stamp.

Just my view on it, anyway.
Animals don't care what the clock says, they just know they get fed at a certain time. Then they get grumpy if you feed them "an hour later" because the clock changed again. I hate the clock changing.

We all skipped over this but this really fucks us over if the Fed doesn't drop the rates. A major part of the plan is to refinance the Biden loans that are coming due this year so the interest doesn't kill our economy, if these assholes don't drop the rates we can't do that.
I am increasingly suspecting that if the bankers and financiers that were profiting from the hollowing out of the US can't have their slow, managed decline, they will deliberately take measures to crash the economy with no survivors to punish the plebs for getting uppity.

If we had real growth that would not be true. However, all 'our' growth happened in China. That's why trade imbalances aren't good.
And that didn't happen overnight. The spiral has been ongoing for like 30 years. Why are people still under the illusion that there's a magical painless fix for this? There's no unicorn with a magic wand coming to save us. Any real fix is going to suck, bad, probably for years. It must be done though.

They’ll try to. Luckily that would offend the administration at this time

Leavitt seems a little jumpy today, very clearly and obviously reading off a script. Wonder what's up.
There are connections between statins and cognitive decline and I've personally known two different people who had symptoms of cognitive decline who, after stopping their statins, saw a complete reversal in the symptoms.
They'll say that it's only water soluble statins that can get past the brain barrier into the brain but a variety of factors can cause impaired brain barrier function and may result in other ones getting past too. They see impaired barriers in shit like alzheimers and MS for example.
glowdoc had that happen to his dad

Why the fuck do we even keep these time shifts anyway? Everyone who has to get up in the morning hates them.

there's two reasons

1) most states include in their laws on the subject that eliminating time change can only happen in coordination with other states in the same time zone and they're too retarded to coordinate this. this is why even when a state votes to get rid of it you are still doing it

2) people are fighting over which way, keep real time all year or keep fake and gay time all year

“This is an extinction-level event for NASA science,” said Casey Dreier, chief of space policy for the Planetary Society, a space advocacy group. “It needlessly terminates functional, productive science missions and cancels new missions currently being built, wasting billions of taxpayer dollars in the process. This is neither efficient nor smart budgeting.”

"I can't do any science at all with a mere $3.9 billion" is why people hate these pencil-necked fucks.

Historically this isn't true. Americans didn't start thinking about extreme individualism (not believing they belong to a group at all) until after WWII. In the countryside, most people were still mostly anglos until fairly recently. Their identities were focused on protestant Christianity. Episcopal vs Lutheran vs Baptist vs Methodist vs Evangelical all vs Catholics. If you were from the South you had your racial identity vs Blacks as well. For most of American history most of America thought of themselves as "Americans" meaning White Protestant.

bullshit

this is the worst kind of revisionism and you have no relationships with the older members of your family and never read any books if you believe this

all of those identities were happily discarded for chasing the almighty dollar. people swapped churches to make money. they passed for white to make money. they left their marriages and went west to make money.

that's who we are as a people and it's why our leader anointed by God is Donald Trump

Read this post. Just because our coastal elite suck doesn't mean everyone agrees with them.

They're the most profitable drug in history and they keep lowering the threshold to prescribe them, that should be your first red flag.

The guidelines have gone from under 300 total cholesterol to under 200 to pushing even lower including pushing for under 70 ldl being ideal. they have no idea what they're doing except looking to the dollar signs.
I was prescribed statins when I was about 28. I'm not overweight and my diet isn't liquid cholesterol, but the doctor told me that about 75% of all cholesterol production is unrelated to dietary cholesterol. AKA some people just have naturally higher cholesterol and changing their diet will not affect it much unless they are borderline.

Interesting, especially when you see deathfats with high cholesterol from terrible dietary choices. Naturally high cholesterol is probably no worse for you than naturally high white blood cell count, until it starts compounding with other things like high blood pressure, lack of exercise, poor diet, and smoking.

I've also seen side effects of rhabdomyolysis with high statin doses, which could easily make deep muscle pain that requires painkillers to treat. It's all a racket, and I am no longer on statins.

Idk man, most people used to be freehold farmers that banded together in outrage over a small amount of taxation
one example of this from my home state of Kentucky was the "black patch" tobacco wars. A large tobacco conglomerate (now called british-american tobacco) cornered the tobacco market and drove down prices which was threatening to put the small Kentucky/Tennessee tobacco farms out of business.

Publicly these farmers formed Planters Protection Association to pool together their crops of Dark fired tobacco (of which KY/TN had and still has the premier crop) to withhold them from the market to negotiate for better prices.

the PPA was not as successful as the farmers wanted so they formed a outlaw posse called the Night riders or The silent brigade. They went around KY and TN burning company crops, destroying warehouses and farm equipment of those farmers who refused to join the PPA. They would also publicly humiliate company officials and farmers by whipping them.

eventually it went to SCOTUS and American Tobacco company (now BAT) was declared a monopoly and forced to separate.

PTSD has a series of criteria for diagnosis that people don't always fit and a treatment plan that might not work for individual cases. Decent psychiatrists take a "less is more" approach because they don't want to misdiagnose someone who then receives incorrect treatment. It could be that a depression or generalized anxiety diagnosis is more accurate for a given case, but I do not know the ins and outs of the person you're talking about. I'm just giving my armchair opinion.

Also, the abundance of munchies makes it clear why certain people care about special diagnoses.

well I'm not giving an armchair opinion, I'm not talking about an individual and I have no idea why people have such strong opinions they need to express based on ????

there are basically no "decent psychiatrists" and people barely even see actual psychiatrists anymore, they see psychiatric NPs, who have very little experience and usually just didn't want to do regular nursing anymore.

the reason I'm jumping down your throat is your weird need to comment about people needing "special diagnoses." we have a massive institutional crisis in mental health care and overuse of dangerous psychoactive substances. people should never default to blame powerless individuals interacting with this system.

* Asks for billionaires
* Shows example
“Well not THOSE billionaires, they’re my friends!”
There isn't a smoke-filled room somewhere with a dozen billionaires sitting around a table directing national affairs. It's more like a million older paper-millionaires who truly believe they are "wealthy" because number has been artificially inflated for half their lives and don't understand the consequences of what they've done. Their brains won't allow them to understand it, they earned those paper gains and the illusion of fake wealth you see.

Under military code of conduct she fucked up, this was some of the email she sent out after Vance visited the Space Force base in Greenland.

"I do not presume to understand current politics, but what I do know is the concerns of the U.S. administration discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base”

"I commit that, for as long as I am lucky enough to lead this base, all of our flags will fly proudly -- together”

Sounds like she violated Article 88 of the UCMJ:

Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.

This was my conversation with my doctor: some people just have crazy high cholesterol and a low-dose statin works. Most doctors will give you the lowest effective dose, see what happens, and leave you there so long as you are stable and get the desired results.

I don't have a strong opinion, just an opinion. You're the one getting mad about it and, as you say, jumping down my throat. Considering the number of munchies out there, discussed on this site, I don't know why you're surprised by that comment. I understand your point about issues with psychiatrists, mental health, insurance, and so on. I don't discount that, but - respectfully - I think you're taking what I said a little too personally.

If what I said upset you in any way, I'm sorry. Not "tee hee, I'm sowwy UwU (hahaha fucking retard)." I apologize. That was not my intention at all.

I think there’s some malice as well. As a kid, my mother had me “diagnosed” with autism so she could get more free money from the state. It wasn’t until my junior year of high school that I was able to get retested and it was determined that I wasn’t autistic. I would bet that if they didn’t cash awards for people with autistic children, the diagnoses would go down

yes, and this is why there is the superficial paradox of why food stamps should not be reduced (ok you can take away soda)

if aid isn't as general as possible and the means testing isn't as basic bitch as possible, you incentivize things like crazy check seeking

we're not getting the randian paradise of no gibs. we have to have smart gibs and that means reducing perverse incentives.
