Their bolt-actions were pretty good however, the Lebel was by all means outdated after WW1 but the Kropatschek tube magazine system was very useful in a slow trench warfare conflict. 10 rounds is nothing to scoff at, especially with full-power rifle cartridges.No surprise it ended up being an absolutely failure
The Berthier was "okay" at best, but the intial iterations only fit a measly 3 rounds in the integrated magazine. En-bloc clip was okay as well but it didn't have any auto ejection system (like the Mannlicher and Carcano) which would probably be a hassle in the battlefield
