Joe Rogan's biggest strength is the audience he organically cultivated over the better half of the last decade through his podcast. Before his podcast, his claim to fame was being some middle-of-the-road comedian who utterly eviscerated Carlos Mencia's career built upon stealing jokes, but then simped hardcore for Amy Schumer despite being guilty of doing the same thing. I've followed his podcast via YouTube, Spotify, and RSS for years and while I don't listen to every episode, Rogan is never one to outright denigrate perceived wrongthink. If anything, he's open to giving people a voice and openly fact-checking them by having Jamie look shit up on the fly.

Democrats won't ever have their own Joe Rogan Experience because they're so heavily built upon punishing wrongthink whilst pushing the message at every conceivable turn. Even if Joe himself was, and still pretty much is, a middle-of-the-road liberal who broadly aligns with past Democrat platforms, his unwillingness to punish perceived wrongthink is something that the establishment simply cannot abide. That's a fundamental problem because a huge part of the Joe Rogan Experience's appeal is giving everyone from theoretical physicists to ex-politicians to current politicians to literal conspiracy theorists a fair shake.

The left has no fucking shortage of broadly left-leaning, long-form podcasts to choose from. The only one that comes remotely close to JRE's audience is the H3 Podcast, and Ethan Klein himself is a thin-skinned charlatan who likes to make stupid jokes at his guest's expense while Hila's the one who asks salient questions that almost always go undetected. That's, of course, only the case whenever they have a guest that isn't some e-celebrity like Boogie2988 or iDubbbz. Oh and hyper-liberal oestrogen festivals like Call Her Daddy. Never once listened to a full episode, but the few clips of that I've ever seen were horribly smug and off-putting.

With DOGE, a good number of industries were deprived of billions of dollars which they had counted on to sustain their business model. But with the tariffs, a lot of these businesses thought they were doing the right thing. For decades, outsourcing was encouraged. In fact it was part of a strategy to "westernize" east Asia. So fleecing trillion dollar industries an unsurvivable amount of money, when they were just doing what the previous guys wanted, that's a true affront that's going to get some righteous resistance. I could see some very rich and capable people suddenly caring less and less about consequences in that situation.

People like Charlie Kirk spent years sharpening the presentation of their ideas and thoughts by duking it out on left wing platforms, campuses, shows, etc. The left has only ever had to fight with people further to the left. It's going to take years for their best and brightest to even whet their blades, much less strike deeply.

Rogan also can do something that the left can't—approach non-political topics without patently trying to transform the topic into supporting the Democrats politically. I can listen to Rogan talk about mushrooms, hunting, sports, history, etc. without politics ever popping up in the discussion. The left literally does not know how to do this. Every single topic is either subtly or ham-fistedly (usually the latter) turned into a pro-left advocacy hour. Until they realize that the best advocates are normal, credible people who are not always trying to get you to vote in a certain way, they'll never win over the platform.

That's one of the reasons why alternative media has always been heavily conservative. Talk radio was filled with people who were artificially shut out of mainstream platforms by the institutional left. The Internet and podcasts are that way, too (or were more so in the past, until YouTube and co. began obviously and openly manipulating how content appeared to suppress anyone on the right). They don't seem to understand that there's no reason for a left wing Rogan to succeed when that hypothetical audience would get their fill just by turning on literally any major news channel, talk show, comedy show, etc. There's no niche to fill. So for context yesterday the senate passed a bill that would require proof of citizenship to vote, now it should be noted that other countries notalbly more liberal countries have similar laws like this, the reason why this law was passed was as a way to Comabt illegal immigrants from influencing votes.
