I generally agree that "don't feed the trolls" is good advice. But sometimes firebombing the first troll that pokes its head out can deter others. I had just made a post tangentially related to the topic the thread just spent a full day slapfighting about. I don't want the blame for 'slapfight 2: don't say yew'. The intent of my post was to point out how the doomer post was just trying to agitate without being productive, and that the post wasn't worth interacting with.

Work visas have always been a thing. In the case of agribusiness, there's H2-A seasonal work visas. For housekeeping, the H2-B case is a lot shakier. I could understand hiring on temp workers for the busy season, but that industry has gone to full-time wetback labor and needs to be forcefully corrected. But I don't expect men to start hoboing around for seasonal work like the 1930s in order to keep all the taco niggers out.

TL;DW: if you want to buy a similar product in America, you are going to pay at least 5 times more, and the product is still much worse quality than stuff made in China. And this is if you can even get said product, because most American businesses simply turned him down.

However, it's also an indictment that for 1/5th of the cost, he can just email said CAD-design to some Chinese shop and they will actually do the engineering work as well to get that piece manufactured.

This is why these tariffs are not going to work. They would basically have to be in place for decades to actually force manufacturing back to the US, and the process would be painfull as a huge chunk of American companies would simply go out of business. The western world has outsourced this small "pre-manufacturing" industry to the third world countries, in order to manufacture higher quality goods domestically.

There could be some method to this madness, if Trump and his cabinet could stay in power for the next 30 years. They are probably going to try, but what odds do you place on that happening? Are the Republicans even going to win midterms at this pace?

If you want anything within acceptable specifications from China, you have to go there yourself, set up the equipment, establish in meticulous detail the processes you wish performed, and hire people to oppress them out of taking shortcuts and cheating you.

While you are correct, If you do any work at all outside of production monkey jobs and with any sort of one off fabrication or prototyping company, it's pretty typical to get a drawing with either missing weld symbols or none at all.

Often times, the people making the product have no idea what welds would be optimal because they AREN'T welders, so they work in concert with the fab house and their welding staff to come up with the best welds for the joint. And this is actually preferable, because the engineers doing the fab design might think they need a 1/2" fillet on both sides of a joint but don't realize the material will warp like a bitch if you do that or you can't access the other side of the joint by the time the assembly is at that step.

Or they mark up some PJP groove weld with a completely unrealistic groove angle or depth requirement that can't be met because they don't understand the limitations of a GMAW weld. Or they think you can get your hand down a 4 1/2 inch box tube 3 feet to put a weld on the cap from the inside or something.

It's pretty common to get drawings with no weld symbols in some areas of the industry. I wouldn't go full couch ape over it.

Everyone I've heard complain about the prices has either never tried to actually order anything from a non-Chinese company or they have a tiny order volume that is unprofitable for private factories to tool up for (which appears to be the case in the video).

and they're still in the process of paying off the factory (Holosun got free factories courtesy of the CCP) and plan to lower the price once they can afford to.

American companies can compete on a level playing field.

Holosuns are also poor quality compared to their competitors but their fanboys dismiss all complaints because of their low price. Their dot blooms way worse than competitors (causing many people to think they have astigmatism) and they blatantly lie about their battery life.

For the longest time Chinksun would just rip off of Sig Sauer.

I have seen small companies get absolutely destroyed because chinks send maliciously bad product. I am in profound, extreme doubt that you have the actual experience to know how this shit works in real life.

Want castings from chinks? They dump them out of the molds before allowing proper cooling time so your shit will be warped and unusable if anything needs a tolerance tighter than full inches. Source: I worked for a guy who ordered cheap castings from china
