Yeah except tipping isn't only in America. Other countries have tipping culture too.
You tip your barber, you tip your cab driver, you tip your bellman / doorman and so on. You even tip in Europe but it's not the huge amounts like we have here.
It's maybe 10% at most. But I have to agree. If you're forced to tip then it's not a tip it should be included in the price.
The only reason you go to a hostel is because it's cheap. Not because you like it. It's like being back in college again except you're sharing a room with three other people.
And there's no way in hell I'd share a room with Chibi or anybody else from his autism tour group.

During my trip I backpacked through the country and slept in dorms and I had a really good time. I slept in multiple cities, and every room was cheap, clean, and quiet with full amenities for like $30 a night tops. It wasn’t like I was booking ahead either, most of these rooms were booked the day before I arrived. I vastly preferred these dorms to business hotels and last minute capsule hotels. The social aspect of meeting other travelers to go party with was also incentive, especially in Osaka and ropongii
If chibi is capable of organizing and planning, he could get some very cheap group package rooms, especially if he’s booking them in advance. Do I trust chibi to plan out a competent itinerary? Absolutely not. But if we take the chibi out of the equation, what he’s proposing is very feasible.
