The idea that there is a lack of skilled workers in America is silly. Most White male gamers could be trained in a technical cert in months. There could be 10 million more machine operators in 3 months if the powers-that-be wanted. If WW3 started with China and we needed maximum drone production, every basement gamer would be certified and working a job in the supply chain.

If you want more engineers (mechanical, chemical, electrical, etc) just give every gamer the equivalent of an IQ test and offer a free accelerated degree if you're smart enough. Cut out all the "general education" and liberal arts requirements (or make them interesting; like a good Ancient Rome podcast). Tailor the learning to look like a tech-tree unlocked by tangible progress. Let them grind a skillset by repeatedly failing (this is how gamers get better at games). Don't have artificial semesters or beaurocracy. You'd have 1 million more engineers in a year or two.

This depressing slump always happens at the end of the 80 year cycle. When the geriatrics loose their lich-like grip there will be a tipping point and a chain reaction of events will bring about an "economic miracle". Mostly, the "miracle" is getting all the gatekeepers out of they way. And being willing to radically change systems while using the newest technology.
Higher education in the trades or technology used to be a safety net against illegals and other border-jumpers, most of whom only have the bare minimum of education. They can't steal your job if your job took a decade of study and apprenticeship IN the country. You can laugh at all the minimum-wage bozos who lose their jobs to foreign peasants, while your job is secure because you worked your ass off and your boss needs you for your degrees/skills.

However, with Elon's plan to import tons of Indians, that could be put to risk, since many Indians DO have degrees in trade and other techno sectors. There's a reason why half the call help centers are manned by Indians. And the cheap wages these Indians ask for cannot be matched by American gamers who would usually ask for a living wage to pay for their home, their food, and their games. No American wants to be a wage-slave, least of all gamers who want to enjoy the good things in life.

The recent video (not sure when recorded) that's going around of him is infuriating. He goes on about the great tooling and material engineers they have in China and how there are very few people of that caliber in the US so they have to be made in China. I'm like that's because you fired everyone in the US and there was never a pathway for people to become those in the US.

You open up here and we will have those people and skills again. It won't be tomorrow, but those people in China didn't suddenly appear overnight either.
Found the clip that's been going arround

It is from this interview in 2017 with Fortune global forum that took place in Guangzhou. I always hate these random clips that don't say when and where something is from

If I’ve learned anything about Chinese people from being online is that they don’t have to be paid to actively want to spread propaganda and will actively break the law (about vpns) to do so regardless of the consequences.
Hacker News is full of CCP shills, most of whom are legal immigrants to the US.

That is the trades in a nutshell lmao. They'll be fine.
Working in the trades requires hard work and long hours. Most NEET gamers don't even know what a callus is.
@Hey Johnny Bravo my place right now hires fat retards off the street for $21/hour and full benefits, then makes me train them from scratch.

Sure they’ll be useless for a couple years, but well not entirely. I’ll just have to fix it when they’re making scrap
Fair enough.

How do you get them to quit whatever it is they're doing now to feed themselves? There simply aren't millions of Americans waiting for that call to go work at a factory and there won't be until the economy becomes catastrophically worse.
Stop thinking about "sticks". Beating a dead horse doesn't work.

Garauntee them a house in a community that has "The Right of Association". Repeal the Civil Rights Acts (all of them); via Supreme Court ruling, invalidation from LBJ killing JFK, or MAGA++ red wave votes.

Make relationships and marriage viable again. If marriage is a contract, then fault should be required to not forfeit resources. "Divorce Rape" should not exist. One income should be comfortable to live on. Culture should view marriage positively. FCC licensed broadcasts shouldn't produce culturally damaging shows. Educational material shouldn't either.

None of those things can be true if reshoring is to make economic sense.
Wrong

1: it costs money to send shit over seas on boats

2: China operates things at a loss oftentimes just to attack specific industries

3: manufacturing is a value added process that operates on slim margins. If my factory makes more than 3% profit in a year, it will cut bonus checks instead of going up a tax bracket

You buy materials in some state, and do something to them to make them more valuable, then sell them up the line. We don’t control either of those markets, but exist in the margin between them

LABOR IS NOT THE MOST EXPENSIVE OVERHEAD ITEM, the amount a factory pays in wages is like, a bit more than their electricity bill, but a tiny fraction of material costs

4: at that, much lower tariffs than we’re charging would bring a lot back. People are sociopaths and will outsource for just a percent worth of profit, because that’s how THEY make money

Are you a grown up? How don’t you know this

You’re out past what you actually know about
No. Not really. And you're changing the argument. I don't give a flying fuck about WHAT they're machining, regardless if it's an Iphone case or a god damn turbine engine vane. The fact that they don't have a major mill or lathe manufacture based in the CCP doesn't mean they can't use one skillfully. That's my point. That's like saying "Hey, I can hit world record home runs with this aluminum bat, therefore I must also be capable of making the machine that made this aluminum bat"

And who guarantees all of this? Daddy gubmint?

aren't there fake degree farms in india so dudes can become doctors and get cushy jobs in western countries despite not having actual training
Yes. And if you see their actual training it's not much better.

Remember, they think they're speaking perfect queen's English when they shout out "do not redeem saaar."

The context is you’ve been pretending that people who make machine tools can’t machine phone cases

That's half of the problem. The other part of the problem is that at least half of these newcomers actually have genuine degrees and skill, hence why they're getting hired by techno firms a lot, why guys like Elon are interested in them, and they are willing to work at half of what a westerner gets from that. Which means that jobs that were once guaranteed to westerners could now be at risk. I once met a doctor in North Carolina who's a Hindu from India; he was skilled, and he was well-trusted by the community, to the point where he got rich and now has a big house with a private movie theater.

Hence why Elon's plan to import masses of Indians is a bigger risk to American workers than the Democrats importing Latino peasants by the bulk. You can secure your job from being stolen by the latter through education and hard work in the trades; but the former can do anything from grunt-work to educated tech work at half the cost for an American laborer, and no amount of education will keep your job safe. You'd better start befriending your boss so he doesn't fire you for some Indian who can do the job just as good as you, but works for far less.

Good luck with that. Most people think marriage is a trap. And if you try to roll back on the "wins" women gained in the marriage department, you lose their votes, and you lose the election.

It's the same reason why politicians are deathly afraid to offend minorities. Even Trump who tries to expel Latino illegals will not openly attack Latinos as a whole because his politicians need their votes. Otherwise, if enough Latinos vote against Republicans in Congress, Trump becomes a lame-duck president that Congress strips of power; turning him into a punching bag. He might even get impeached or thrown in jail if his party loses enough congressional seats.

For all the talk conservatives make about restoring the position of man in the family and rolling back on radical Feminism, they will not touch the women's victories on forcing the man to pay child support, among other things. They know that if they lose the female vote, it's over, and the Democrats are going to get another 10 years of uninterrupted rule, like when they made Bush II a lame-duck during his second term in office, and they ruled unopposed until 2016 happened.

I just want to take a moment to say how glad I am that I can use this thread to stay mostly up-to-date on politics without having to deal with a shit-ton of trolls like on /pol/, "fellow conservative" shills like on /r/Conservative, or impatient, purity spiraling children who ignore every victory unless it's literally Trump shooting Dem politicians in the head like on Patriots.win

Median manufacturing wage in the US is $24/hour, almost exactly the overall median wage. The median retail wage is $16/ hour

retail further fucks with people by giving people 32, 35 hour schedules, whatever is necessary to call it part time. In a lot of cases like fast food, you have to be a manager to get full time but then it comes as salary, so you’ll be expected to work 50+ hours a week

Technically 30 hours is enough to be considered full time for a lot of companies, and especially for benefits.

Hey, quick question.

Do Trump's reciprocal tariffs exemptions (computers, semiconductor parts, etc) only apply for the 90 days grace period, while he makes new deals with the countries who reached out, or will they never ever get the reciprocal tariffs, even after the 90 days?

Edit: It has been answered here:

The fact that the video isn't being played 24/7 on MSNBC means the footage looks very bad for the nigger.
If you watch any police bodycam, you understand how much of 'muh brutality' or 'he call me niggo' or 'he threaten me' only occurred in the inner machinations of the dindu's mind.

But then you have the highest tax burden in America, and congratulations living with that while working retail. Maybe that’s why so many are homeless, because they get 30 hours at Carl’s Junior and say “sigh, I made it”

I literally do most of my posting on here while I’m on the clock

Not today, but Monday through Friday. You’re not like, punitively oppressed to make it more sweaty.. it’s 2025. People watch movies on their tablet and shit while their machine is running
I'm the onsite IT support for two plants. Went down to one of the bonding mills for complaints that print jobs from SAP were running slow. Part of the problem was one of the guys had multiple browser tabs open to watch his trail cams.

No. Not even a little bit? Your logic was "How true can it possibly be that China has unique tooling quality when they don’t have a single noteworthy machine tool manufacturer?"
You're saying they can't make good machined tooling or components because they don't have a major Mill or Lathe manufacturer in their country.

And my point is, just because they don't have a noteworthy machine tool manufacturer, doesn't mean that can't make things more complex than an Iphone case.
