Men's woes with marriage are something most conservative talking heads ignore, and if you bring it up to them, they call you a whiner.
Someone else in the thread pointed out how Republicans love shitting on men as well, because it's so much easier than actually addressing their problems.

It’s amazing how often you’ll hear this from the mouthes of people who sit on extra cushions for their office chair, in an air conditioned room, with Facebook open in the other tab
It always goes back to blaming men, blaming Americans for not wanting to compete with foreigners, blaming Americans for wanting to be paid a decent wage for grueling work, etc.
It's likely to get to the point where general purpose LLMs are more or less useless, due to all of the shit data that they've collected, and the only ones worth a shit are small, single-purpose ones that are used for specific tools. But even then, I think we're already seeing bottlenecks in many cases.
So much of it is just completely arcane black arts. They'll train the model on new data and it improves and they can't even tell you why. So much of the AI world is snake oil, smoke and mirrors. Not that it's all bad or I have anti-AI derangement syndrome, I enjoy using image gen for memes for example. But the industry surrounding it is profoundly retarded.

The amount of money these guys are walking away from because they're terrified of anyone using these things for porn is hilarious to me, for example. They've sunk so much money into lobotomizing and censoring the models, spending far more than they would make if they would just fuck off and let people have fun.

If anyone hasn't seen inside a modern factory. Here is a drone fly-through tour of a Tesla Gigafactory.

Machines do brute strength work way beyond human capabilities. The humans manage the machines and perform tasks that require judgment.
Yes this is what a factory can look like.

This is also what a factory can look like:

This isn’t China btw.

Just remember: you can't take it with you.
All I want to do is to not wind up in a hovel. And to live to 150.

And from NEETs. (Oop, semi-mind-meld, @Hey Johnny Bravo!)
You’re standing in as my punching bag because Dorothy didn’t come back after saying factory jobs should all be full-ass sweatshops.
Hey-o, I never said that! What that I said led you to think that was my point?

The idea that there is a lack of skilled workers in America is silly. Most White male gamers could be trained in a technical cert in months. There could be 10 million more machine operators in 3 months if the powers-that-be wanted. If WW3 started with China and we needed maximum drone production, every basement gamer would be certified and working a job in the supply chain.

If you want more engineers (mechanical, chemical, electrical, etc) just give every gamer the equivalent of an IQ test and offer a free accelerated degree if you're smart enough. Cut out all the "general education" and liberal arts requirements (or make them interesting; like a good Ancient Rome podcast). Tailor the learning to look like a tech-tree unlocked by tangible progress. Let them grind a skillset by repeatedly failing (this is how gamers get better at games). Don't have artificial semesters or beaurocracy. You'd have 1 million more engineers in a year or two.

This depressing slump always happens at the end of the 80 year cycle. When the geriatrics loose their lich-like grip there will be a tipping point and a chain reaction of events will bring about an "economic miracle". Mostly, the "miracle" is getting all the gatekeepers out of they way. And being willing to radically change systems while using the newest technology.
If they just gave Khanacademy accreditation. My sister is a math prof, and she tells failing students to use this instead of paying a tutor. Works more often than not. The infrastructure is there, for Free.

You said my job should be condensed until people don’t have time to use their phones, right?

That’s a different thing from one place to another. What you have to do when it’s time to do something could be picking up a piece of paper and dropping it into a manilla folder, or it could be stacking a pallet up with 80 lb bags of dry concrete, or it could be rolling a 1200 lb reel of copper wire, or it could be clicking a button on your excel spreadsheet.

how close was I with the hr lady guess?

Interesting how everyone tried to act like Chyna wouldn't pull something this abrasive and symbolic of how much they can control industry, yet go ahead and prove Trump right when they're backed into a corner. At least now we can finally move on local refining.
That's the answer I was looking for.
It makes sense, now.
Thanks!

Khan Academy was, without exaggeration or hyperbole, a godsend when I was a wee lad going through the school system like 10-15 years ago. Did your class finally get up to trigonometry and you're sitting there struggling to understand what the hell sine, cosine, and tangent are? Khan Academy's got you covered. I did myself no favours cutting Algebra II in high school, and it was specifically hustling toward the end of the year with Khan Academy videos teaching me the stuff I missed out on in a digestible manner that allowed me to pass the state math exam and not become at risk of being a super senior.

It's an absolute travesty that the greatest gift to education on the internet has not yet earned some type of accreditation in $current_year. Completely fucking unforgivable.

Actually, that's a valid argument worth rebutting whenever it comes up. If we're going to repatriate manufacturing and refinery for a bevy of industries in the USA, it's imperative that we address the issue of industrial waste. As much as we like to bitch and moan about China, India, and Vietnam being polluted shitholes, the rapid industrialisation and lax enforcement on environmental laws had more than a hand to play in those places becoming so unpleasant. A huge reason why the neoliberal order took hold in America was largely because of the perceived environmental benefits of not having industrial waste risk contaminating your groundwater supply or polluting your air. If we truly want industrialisation and refinery to come back into America in full swing, we can't just say "fuck the EPA" and let the factories do what they will without regard for the environmental impact they actually do have. The USA hasn't adequately dealt with the ramifications of East Palestine, OH getting polluted with PFAs and other such forever chemicals due to the train derailment. If we can't deal with that, it spells out a rather troubling omen of things to come if and when we get our factories back.

It’s really good for self-study. Just find the specific topic and fucking drill.

It's always amusing to me that even when our enemies try and portray us in a bad light they know it's pointless to pretend we aren't fully capable of fucking their shit up.
The Chinese died too much to American bombs and MG fire in Korea to pretend that a disparity doesn't exist. Note how the rabbits carry PPSH 41 submachine guns, outdated as fuck. Meanwhile the eagle has a jet with radar and bombs and shit and is apparently maneuverable enough to pull a 90 degree turn upwards at will.

It already wasn't?
It kind of has been for a long time, its just the players are changing now somewhat. There were the European empires in the past, then there was the Soviet Union and the United States coming, and now it looks like the main involved parties will be Russia, China and the USA with some moves from Turkey and the Arabian states while the French and British are generally gone.
