/a/ was genuinely a great place to discuss anime and manga provided you knew which threads to avoid. Every other anime forum is Xitter-tier cancer with constant moderation and attention whoring, making it impossible to have any productive discussion.
Not to mention there's still board-wide projects, like the Lain redr/a/w last year or all the translation/scanlation threads. I don't know any other community with that kind of engagement and culture.

I can attest to this, there were proven bots being trained on /dbs/ posts years before LLM's became mainstream. iirc there were some posts about it on /dbs/ itself but also on /x/, and a user traced multiple suspected bots IP adress to the same United States airforce base.

At least an actual answer. I don't really use any of the vidya related boards so can't speak on that, just mostly /a/, /pol/, and occassionally /b/ and /x/. All those boards are mostly fine and the based anons vastly outnumber the troons and fags, who always gets BTFO in threads. /b/ is definitely on the worse side of thos boards though. It feels like people here are hyperfocusing on the 1/10th of threads that are spam and ignoring the rest.
