They worked just fine. Some relied on an engine that never had its kinks worked out, but they could easily have been re-engined. Problem was that priorities, and the war, shifted.

Nah, it was an excellent bomber as well as an excellent fighter. The changes were limited to installing bomb racks.

And the allied propeller planes couldn’t deal with the ME262 (or the Komet ME163 for that matter). In almost every dogfight they were outclassed or left in the dust as the ME262 just revved up.

The vulnerability, that they eventually exploited, was that it was very vulnerable during landing. That’s how the vast majority of losses happened. The 262 needed a long gliding slope in order to land.

it couldnt turn like shit tho, if the 262 got into a turnfight, it'd lose, and it also took it a long time to accelerate compared to prop planes

it was really fast in a straight line

ofc im pretty sure the 262 pilots knew about jt and would just boom and zoom and engage on their own terms



as for the 163, wasn't it more lethal to its pilots than to its victims, tho it was still a really good interceptor in theory, but the frontal cannons were too inaccurate when ur moving at 1000km/h, the pilots were used to flying much slower turbine planes

(ofc they later installed vertical cannons with a light sensor, but idk how well it worked)

Well yeah, but part of that is related to speed.

If you have a plane going at 700 km/h it’ll have a longer turning radius than one going at 500 km/h. The Me109 was as I recall also faster than the Spitfire in dives, so boom and zoom was a tactic the German pilots were experienced with.

The Me163 got a decent amount of kills, though yes: The canons weren’t ideal. The 30 mm canon was short barreled and fired a pretty slow shell, though on the other hand: One or two of them landing a hit could take out a bomber.

The problem with the 163 was that it was rather wasteful. A better use for those rocket engines would have been the SAM missiles like Rhintochrer that the Germans were developing, rather than a fighter that (granted was a literal missile) but could only fly for ten minutes or so.

The US Army only encountered Tigers three times in the ETO, according to tons of research by Nicholas Moran and others.

1. Tiger v. Sherman (Sherman won)
2. Tiger v. Pershing (Tiger won)
3. Tigers being loaded onto railcars (Not really a fight)

I'd be more worried about a StuG or some 13 year old with a Panzerfaust if I was in a Sherman. Encountering a Tiger in the West would be like running into a Nashorn, remarkably rare.

The sherman was overall a damn good tank that was made sadly obsolete by technology itself.
However the military reliability of thise things can't be understated. Some countries only stopped using Sherman's like in the mid 2000s.
It's sad it gets a bad wrap but that's what the history channel did to baby boomers.

That being said how is nafo handling the tariffs?

No, it didn't.

Sources differ depending on who you ask. But at best? It scored only about a dozen bomber kills (some say it was as little as 9). When weighted against just as many of them spontaneously exploding during flight, takeoff, landing or even taxiing and incinerating their pilots in the process?

It was an abject failure as a weapons system.

Sure, the component parts worked great on paper and on test stands. But when all rolled together and deployed for real? Compounded by Germany's dire strategic situation at the time? And collapsing logistics? They'd literally have been better off to have just built more Me-109's for all the resources they spent on the 163.
