You Know What Grinds My Gears? - Things that personally piss you off

When they choose the urinal next to me and try talking. Go the fuck away.
Any guy who does that is almost certainly a faggot trying to hit on you.

Thread tax: those lowrider Honda Civics with wheels that are basically horizontal. I saw one earlier today (heard it first, of course). It just looks stupid.

Was just looking at the movie listings for the first time in years only to discover that the entire late start timeslot has been yeeted.

The latest start I could find on a weeknight was 7:30.

They seemed to have moved the earlier showing to as soon as 3:50 pm on weekdays.

I remember in the not-so-distant past the option of catching a weekday showing well after 10 pm.

Is the industry really in that bad of shape?

Has everything become some child-centric business model?

Is there no adult-focused scheduling left in 2025?

Most just wait till it comes to streaming. The theatre where I live does have that option, but rarely anyone goes anymore. I kind of miss going to the movies, even if less people were attending since streaming, it was always a good time. And yes, the industry is in that bad of a shape.

Thread tax: They make every little damn thing political, even the most innocuous conversations..

I can't stand retards that take incredibly complex, multi-faceted things and boil it down into Team 1 vs Team 2 politics. For example, 12 Angry Men is a fantastic movie with a wide breadth of characters who embody all sorts of different points of views, beliefs and biases. From the totally apathetic to the bleeding hearts to the unrepentantly judgemental, it's a great slice of how different people would approach the same situation from so many angles. Yet to some retards out there, all that goes out the window and they just see "my team good guys, other guys bad team".

I really loved that movie. But yeah, my coworkers are the good guys, bad guys, team, and it feels their arguments always resort who is raising their voice the loudest wins instead of discussing.

I know two different people who aren't very bright.

When you talk to them, you can honestly hear their brains grinding to a halt because they get that creaky sound in their throat as they're talking and elongating words and you know that you can't shake them and tell them to spit it the fuck out but fucking hell, I need to move my day along a bit faster than your brain can handle.

Does anyone know the name of what I'm talking about? I mean the creaky voice thing. There has to be a name for that kind of vocal tic.

You mean vocal fry?

Are there any actresses in that film?

Thread tax: I hate elderly "normies." They need, no, DEMAND, tech help because their Facebook isn't working. They've been "hacked" despite not practicing any Internet safety (clicking on obvious pop ups, giving out information at will, using the same password for everything.) You go to their house, nothing but Fox News/CNN on repeat with the same talking points. Why have a smartphone or tablet if you don't know how to use it?

God forbid you ask or allude to what they did, they fall back to the frightened child they were 60 years ago and say they didn't do anything and insist it just happened.

People of any political alignment who feel the need to shoehorn it into every conversation. I'm not talking about being disappointed at something and saying as a joke "Thanks, OBAMA!" if the store is out of your favorite can of soup or whatever. It's the people who make every goddamn thing political. No, I'm pretty sure Trump or Trudeau or that limey fuck Starner isn't the reason your bus is late or has anything to do with the animals eating your vegetable garden.

I have a friend like this and she's just gone off the deep end since Orange Fascist Hitler put all the gays in camps or whatever. All I want to do is have lunch, trade industry gossip, talk shit about people we hate and maybe grab a beer or five afterwards. But no, I gotta hear about how tariffs are going to mean no more mustard (wtf???) and my cheap PBR will cost $10 dollars a can soon due to, well, something. Alright then...

Nah its just 12 guys in one room for the whole movie. Utterly fantastic.

Thread tax: you wait for ages in line at the doctors (who is always late) just for then to tell you "rest and drink water" no matter what, then they charge you $80 for the pleasure. I'm not a fucking retard, I know how to take basic care of myself. Give me actual fucking medical advice.

I have two coworkers like this, opposite spectrums. I try to avoid them both.

Thread tax: I bring in a gift for a coworker that I'm friends with. Someone else butts in and goes "Why didn't I get anything?" I don't fucking know you that well. I'm not trying to snub you, it's for my friend. It's just a fucking bag of sweets.

I'll add societal issues too. I don't like being told how to feel about something and why. I in particular don't give a shit about what's going on over in the Gaza shitstorm anymore, it's just stupid tan/brown retards with stupid religious beliefs all killing eachother in whatever justification that is religiously backed that has stemmed from decades to centuries of issues that have happened in that area. Why should I care?

I hate the news for this very reason and prefer avoiding it, simply because they too are trying to tell me to feel for something or what to care about when I actually don't. I have friends and seeing strangers, spend their every waking minute, getting pissed off, feeling doom and gloom all of the time. They spend so much time on their social media platforms, just preaching whatever will gain them empty likes. Saying they hate Trump. Saying they support trans rights. Saying whatever white-hot issue and giving their empty-headed take on it.

How do these people even sleep at night? I'm more concerned at times whether I'm still going to have an income or how much resources I have around. These kinds of people are just as bad as the media and they don't care to realize it. Especially when they don't even know how to protest or put up an effort to go out and actually make a change. No, they're all just noise.

Don't get me started on the straw wars in my area. I'm all for different lids that eliminate the need for straws at all. But I think these people enjoy suffering with the paper straws or their little straw cleaning kits for the silicone straws that came with a sea turtle stuffed animal they got on Amazon. It all just creates more trash that comes close to competing with the original plastic straws.

All that said, I admit that I'm a hypocritical asshole myself in that I'm all for using a fish as an excuse to stop bringing in more beaners and pajeets and cramming them into cinder block apartments. But that's not going to happen. We've raised a whole generation to be afraid of real life experiences, so how can they have any love of nature when they've never experienced it or actively dislike it because it's scary or unpleasant?
I could've sworn I saw an article where at least some of the heckin eco friendly paper straws contained PFAS
