I was under the assumption that criminal restitutions survive bankruptcy. Would this fall under that category? In the US at least, those don't go away in a bankruptcy.

I'm no lawyer but yes, in Australia court imposed judgements don't disappear when declaring bankrupt. It hampers future business endeavours and fucks your ability to secure any line of credit. You can't travel overseas without permission from a trustee managing your bankruptcy so he can't pivot to Johnny Somali style content either.

So as a man with a young family, he's ruined them. Depending on how he's structured his assets (if he has any) he's in big trouble. Likelihood of divorce is high. He's ruined his life and the future of his wife and kid. It's astounding.

Nah, KF users are more like the TLC audience. There is no thin veneer of honor or displays of marshal prowess like with gladiator fights.
