And I don't even have any fucking ideas to get a good userbase without advertising and bothering everyone else.
If I did one (and finally stopping my case of quickly giving up), it would be gatekept by accounts linked to a string of number/characters and a randomly generated password assigned to someone who ask for access, and word of mouth. And a fucking quadratic equation or shit like that (if it is public, every 24h hours on a associated IP) to resolve at least when you login because maths would filter anyone who is not serious enough to post shit.

You got three options.
First option : Use ChatGPT/Deepseek and ask help. I did it to look, and it seems feasible, and you can specify your wants and ask for help over what to choose over the frontend/backend/database.
Second option : You take a ready-made opensource imageboard software like lynxchan for example. You can always find something that you like and still supported. And customize it when you are familiar with the code.
Third option : Pull up your straps and do it yourself. Ask for help if you don't have any ideas, like the programming thread on KF, and ChatGPT/Deepseek.

The downside is that if you use ChatGPT/Deepseek, you can't be 100% what it is feeding you is correct or secure. Yes it can help with the basics, but you will have to get your hands dirty to do better if you don't want to end up with the shitcode of 4chan.

The best thing to do is try and learn from your mistakes. And perhaps integrate A.I bullshit (autodelete bad pics/vids and links to trooncord or shit like that) to not get bombarded with bots/cp.

Mind you, I don't have any ideas either, what I'm saying is a result of the last few days mucking around Deepseek asking for answers lmao.
I meant from the perspective of the people running 4chan. As in: how much of a task is it to get the site back to how it was? I'm not making 4chan2 lmao

more websites than you think are running on defunct soft/hardware, it's absurdly common and in our modern jeet age of tech it's only getting worse
Yeah, but 4chan with its millions of monthly anons... I honestly think Hiroyuki or whoever was responsible of maintaining it deserved this, they literally deserved to be shat on, neglecting basic responsibilities for so long.

Build it first and then they come

Gork is this true?

I work in industrial automation irl(factories, big machines, etc etc) and it's the same way. Yuge factories, ran by multi-billion dollar international corporations will run on hardware from 1992 until it dies. And then go spend a few grand on ebay to get replacement parts because it's still cheaper than upgrading.

How do you host that shit, with all the data you know is in the DB and sleep tight during the night knowing very well it's relying on decade old software
By taking bribes from five eyes so they can backdoor that shit and spy on your username
Are we truly, honestly expected to believe just because sharty made a giant mess that he was the only one with root access?
I remember once or twice just wishing I had access to see the tripfags and memeflag regulars in this one gens IPs just so I could find out what larping brown niggers were posting the d&c garbage
If I had half the geolocations of some of these fags I would of booked a bus or plane to go find them, or at let them know I found them to see if that shuts their shit.

I am certain I am not the only way one who felt that way sometimes, but with vulnerabilities open that long I believe at least a minimum of five groups including glowniggers have had back channel access for at least a few years but decided never to take action that would reveal their data scraping activities

I do agree with you, maybe there will be more leaks now that the backdoor(s) is/are closed (for good?), of aggregated data over long time periods... :-)

I'm still baffled how this happened. How can such a huge website run for a decade without significant upgrades? How. How do you host that shit, with all the data you know is in the DB and sleep tight during the night knowing very well it's relying on decade old software? It wouldn't have even required much effort to update the basic shit to harden it.
It's not that hard to believe. I was a CS major for a couple of years before I dropped out and changed majors and nearly all the students in the upper level courses where some kind of jeet copy/pasting code from stackoverflow forums. I remember doing group projects where I would have to spend all-nighters adding comments and correcting format because they would often just dump pseudocode from an example answer along with chunks of actual code. It was particularly infuriating because the teacher assistant, also an Indian guy and an actual programmer, would just let this shit slide.
