Warhammer 40k

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
One-Page Rules offers a different experience than Warhammer ever provided. Yeah a lot of people pick it up just because fuck GW, but it's a very simple and customizable system. Games are quick to set up and play. Rules are free so if you want to pick it up there's no investment. Unlike older editions OPR has not been abandoned and does receive updates. 40k 5th ed will always be the same. Best of all it uses alternating activations. While AA is not a perfect system either, I find it much preferable to I Go You Go. IGYG tends to alleviate stalling, or padding activation count, but AA avoids snowballing since you don't get to shoot with every gun in your army before your opponent is allowed to respond.
then don't play 40k. just transition ... to the game system that you prefer. imma be real i don't give a fuck about current 40kike and only play heresy and WHFB 6th edition. I don't really care about your opinion on IGYG or alternative activation. it works better for fantasy and heresy has reactions which kind of fix the issue of activation, so I'm not worried about being raped up the ass by a single tau player's opening salvo. An abandoned system is also better because all the new Meta chasing faggotry isn't going on and there's not going to be any niggers, and other brown eyed black haired brown skinned animals in my rule books, stories and art. I guess salamanders are niggers but they're technically medically black so not really niggers.

printing minis with FDM is possible, but considering the time/effort not really worth it. terrain on the other hand...
Or just get some black spray paint and some scrap wood
It just takes a really long time. As much as I want to get into resin printing, I have no desire to inhale toxic fumes or deal with the clean up.
As someone who actually works around toxic fumes these people screaming about all these toxic fumes you're going to die horribly I've been around stuff that makes resin fumes look like little baby stuff ever been around excellent for waterproofing basically you roll on this thick kind of looks like a red syrupy stuff you'd use to make cherry pie before you put on this waterproof membrane even through the respirator that stuff is potent.
and I've never had a single issue with my lungs whatsoever these people saying the fumes are going to kill you are literally retarded

Here's the thing just like I wouldn't use this accelerant in an enclosed space without a respirator or some sort of ventilation just use common sense and you'll be fine

I'm looking at a Bambu A1 for similar reasons, dont really want to deal with resin nonsense.

Terrain, bases, tools and pauldrons will probs be the only things I print and should be easy to avoid resin. Time isnt really an issue, just think how slow you might paint.

Can recommend the A1, very easy to get started with and really simple to repair, should anything fail.

Nigga that's what OPR is...people playing a new game system they prefer. You asked.
I just liked the OPR minis and was trying to justify a purchase of $80+ in STLs by maximizing value. Being able to build a 40k army on top of a OPR army with them makes them inherently worth more. Heck, I wonder if they can be used to make Kill Teams too.

Besides, GW forgot to finish the freaking NuSquats army. Even ignoring the not so great art direction NuSquats took -- they were so busy finding a way to make female Squats a thing that they fucked up the aesthetic -- they just didn't finish releasing everything. I couldn't make a full NuSquats army if I wanted to, I don't think?

I really like their High Elf Fleets model range. I prefer the look of Eldar tanks, but otherwise I think the range looks amazing. Makes me actually want to play elves.

Just got back into the hobby after a while and bought the dark eldar combat patrol. Anyone have a simple contrast paint recipe for the box art armor? I'm fine with the standard base shade highlight formula for HQs but I can't be fucked to do that for all the troops .

For rank and file Kabalite warriors use the following
Base: Terradon Turquoise
Highlight: Warpstone Glow

If you want to make them look a bit nicer once your army is up to tabletop add the following
Edge Highlight: Warpstone Glow + Sybarite Green in a 1:1 ratio
Dot Highlight: Sybarite Green

Thanks. I like TTurquoise but it seems a little lighter than the black heart scheme. Should I prime black and zenithal grey or dry brush first?

Give it a go on a test mini first. If it doesn't look good try mixing the Terradon with single drop of black Templar.
Cool I'll play with it and see what I like. Deldar seem like one of those ranges like tau where edge highlights can make or break the scheme but I'm a beady eyed fuck who struggles with fine lines. Really enjoy the kabalite side of the range, especially Incubi.Hopefully when the codex comes out we get a detachment thats built around them. A new vect on his pimp wagon would go hard too.

For me, this was probably one of the biggest disappointments from GW in the past couple of decades. Abandoning the original aesthetic and running with whatever the fuck Votann are supposed to be was such an anticlimax.

They didn't even have to be their own distinct faction. We could have had Squat auxiliaries for the Imperial Guard. A standard squad, a unit of bikers and some heavy weapon teams like the Mole Launcher and Thudd Gun. If they really wanted to push the boat out they could have given them the Thunder-Fire Cannon as a terrain/artillery piece.

They would have served better as a nice callback/bonus instead of another unbalanced, half-finished faction.

Im happy that Eldar finally got a good update, I have slowed down making newer armies but I mostly wanna cap out at making an Ork and Eldar army to finish my 40k lists. I mostly have been playing 30k with my White Scars but newer 40k releases always bring me back in. Especially, since leaks dictate GW wants to give the minor marine chapters pity releases again so I will have to buy the Raven Guard and White Scar updates.

Make them part of the Talons of the Emperor. Custodes, Sisters of Silence, Squats. You'd have a complete army then.

But yeah the aesthetic is what gets me. I don't like "slightly fat space marines (to make them sex neutral) with faux runes." I want "drunken biker gang in space."

I also noticed there seems to be a split, GW actually are really forwarding a narrative whatsoever right now. They give off the illusion and I know grogs here say they hate advancement but what advancement is really happening? Grogs are pissed the setting went forward but the guys want the setting to move forward are complaining its not happening enough.

Whats the verdict on this topic now?

It went forward, then they reversed course and froze it again. The setting is now permanently in some sort of quantum Indomitus Crusade era, where they're both on the Crusade and slightly after it depending on when you look and cause the waveform to collapse.

All of the lore I've seen hints that they're gearing up for a 40k End Times style event, but they'll never have the balls to do it.

Seems to me like the Indomitus Crusade is firmly over, and the fleets are splitting up to better secure the half of the Imperium they actually control. Robute is sending out groups to deal with things left and right, nids, necrons etcetc. If they do move it forward it will be after whatever they're cooking with Armageddon.
