The new film Warfare is in theaters. A platoon of Navy SEALs embark on a dangerous mission in Ramadi, Iraq, with the chaos and brotherhood of war retold through their memories of the event. People are calling it a mix of generation kill and black hawk down. It has very very good reviews. Apparently features an actor playing Ray Mendoza and Mendoza attended the premier. He cowrote and directed.
According to the parents guide on IMDb it features them watching porn and shows that on screen for half a minute, and also shows a man's full cock as a joke. I will be skipping this film for those reasons myself.
edit: my dumbass forgot to link what i was replying to
sorry i'm a 4chan refugee so bear with me. also take this all with a grain and a half of salt because i'm a retard
i just watched this a few hours ago
the "porn" scene is just an exercise/music video at the beginning of the movie, like before the title screen even shows; its completely unrelated to anything else, and calling it porn is beyond disengenious
you can't really compare it to black hawk down or generation kill, aside from the fact it was Desert Wars II: The Son of Bush Strikes Back; simply because of how little of a overarching narrative there was. most war movies have more than one firefight
they don't even state what their mission is in the movie; beforehand i read it was SEALS giving sniper support to some marines, but that's never stated in the movie.
it's all in real time. there's no cuts, save for a couple fade to blacks. when they shout "xxx minutes" it's actually going to be that many minutes.
as far as war movies go, it was very sobering.
the entire movie takes place in one building; it's about an hour and a half, give or take whatever
the sound design is fucking phenomenal, if it's showing at an IMAX near you go for that.
when i sat down, there was 1 other dude there, a few seats behind me. he started talking to me (shouting shit) - normally that's fucking weird, but i was pretty buzzed, so whatever. after a couple minutes of making fun of trailers, we ended up moving to sit next to each other. afterwards i learned he was in the infantry, but never deployed. he said it was pretty close to his training though, he'd done some bunker clearing exercises.
after the movie ended, they showed some BTS footage of elliot miller and others (with their faces censored/blurred out/redacted) and the actors. and then, the credits rolled. and i went to the parking lot and had a smoke with aformentioned veteran.
normally i'd post this shit on /tv/ but y'know
