That's definitely the case. Worst part is that it's not immediately obvious, because sometimes a bad fallout with an ex may come up in a random conversation and you listen to it thinking that a person is just talking about their experience in the context of the topic. Then they do it again. And again... And again... And again... and after 100x more times, along with watching their other patterns, you end up realizing that something is off but it may be too late and if you cross them you'll be that "bad" person they will gossip about with others.

Yeah I have a cousin who's like that. For example he told the family about a classmate in college who fucked up and coasted on their team's final year project so much that everyone hates him and went no contact with the guy. Of course my first reaction was wow the guy must be an one-in-a-million asshole to make the whole class hate him. But then I was at the cousin's graduation ceremony and everyone in his class was interacting with the guy normally, except for my cousin who pretends he does not exist (literally not looking at the guy or acknowledging the guy's existence).

Another day while chatting with the cousin's sister she told me that he's still pissed off by a one-off joke I made (months ago!!!) about his favorite movies, which is why he's giving me the cold shoulder now. Such pettiness. It would be fascinating if I don't have to keep seeing him at family events, as I am sure he talked shit about me to people already.

It’s seems to me that there is confusion about what are admirable traits in a partner on both sides of the aisle. Years of the internet telling us what we should be looking for with a dash of toxic parenting.

I'm not a fan of the gender war and I'd always prefer if we got along and didn't hate each other, but over the years I've really started to feel like male vs female discourse isn't really balanced, especially when I realised that misandrist women hate men for raping and killing women, and misogynist men hate women for not having sex with them. Men also aren't sympathetic at all to women who pick the wrong guy. If you lower your standards on traits you're seeking, and you end up dating someone who sucks, you're treated like a dumb slut who should've seen the obvious red flags and you deserved it. If we're talking about physical traits and not personality, the only alternative is forcing women to date guys they're simply not attracted to. Even then, I don't really think the women who want tall or fit guys are as bad as the guys who want musclemommy goths and e-girls with DD tits who'll unconditionally say yes to all the kink the guy wants but she also must be a pure virgin catholic tradwife who's never had a single ex.

I honestly can't think of any non-admirable traits in a partner most women mistakenly see as admirable, that sounds a bit reminiscent of the male lie that women only want gangsta bad boys who abuse them while nice guys finish last, whereas I see a lot of guys proudly admit they chase after borderline dangerous or actually dangerous mentally ill/unstable women because the sex is hotter.
