I got banned on /v/ by a tranny janny for ‘muh heckin racism’ just a week before it went down. Honestly, with the way the site was going it probably deserved to die, desu. I just wish others would migrate to the other chans. I wonder where everyone went? Besides this place, I mean.
8moe and 8se, as well as Sharty are the altchans that seem to be getting the biggest portion of refugees. 8moe has over 9000 users now, and Sharty has had to make multiple new boards for all the new posters.

If I can ask, are you (and any other 4chinners for that matter) new to forums in general? They were very common to hang out in back when I was younger, and you had forums for everything you could think of, but then came imageboards, reddit, and so on.
All my old forums shut themselves down and directed everyone to reddit or trannycord

(Except for Bungie.net which ran me off when they overhauled their traditional forum into a reddit-like format in 2013, might be gone altogether now idk)

I used the Animal Crossing Forums when I was like 13.
I lurked here a couple years ago during The Incident.

same, main focus is always trannycord and they always try to turn it into a forum.
obviously they fail, trannycord wasn't made to be a forum and never will be, just like how trannies will never be women.

Ever watch Victory Gundam? Despite Tomino almost killing himself during it's creation, the show has some of the best fight choreography and battles in the franchise.
Great fights and music but the MS designs are horrible (not as bad as some of most recent entries) and the plot is beyond retarded.
I like Usso and Shakti, I would've vastly preferred it if the series focused more on their relationship.
Still better than Witch though

For me, yes absolutely I'm new to forums in general. And I think that applies to most of the other 4chan refugees. Outside of kiwi farms I've never interacted with forums; born to late and didn't have internet when I was young then when I got it I ended up using social media and image boards.
I was around during the days of forums, but I never actually signed up for them or posted on them. Just used them for obscure vidya info when needed.
I think you're all figuring out things pretty fast. Like you've probably noticed it's a lot slower-paced than an imageboard, but imo there's a deeper sense of community. Everybody here still values their anonymity, so long as your name and posting behavior doesn't lead back to some kind of offsite identity you're pretty much a ghost. There's still very much a culture (and microcultures within individual forums and groups) that you'll find all on your own.

You like Gundam? We've got Gundam. There's a thread for just about anything you want, and if there isn't, odds are you can make it. Like I said, a bit slower than what you're all probably used to, but you can probably find what you're looking for here somewhere.

Next on the watchlist after 08th. I've been following the old /m/ guide but decided to skip to 08th because I wanted to stay in the early UC era before moving into the Victory + Wing era.

I'll take this to the anime thread to prevent derailing this thread any further.

What's the advantage of BSD over Ubuntu?
A lot of the earlier internet was built on BSD as that was the preferred choice back in the day (unless you hated yourself and you ran fucking IIS). Linux at that time was not there yet and BSD had some clout because it was pure unix therefore somewhat familiar to the non-Windows SysAdmin at the time.

Eventually Linux got a lot better (mainly because of Ubuntu popularizing Linux before they fucked things up later on).

I was just about to tell you site is 18+ then looked at the calendar and realized holy shit that was five years ago.

Bungie, man, I spent so much time there when Reach came out and Forge communities were big. I feel you, brudda

I'm pretty sure I played animal crossing on a gamecube at my parents' house which would have had to be before 06, where does this 5 year timeline come from

what's this "the incident"

Covid to now. "The Incident", as OP phrased it.

I made a userscript that makes everyone Anonymous.
I was going to ask about this, but figured it would take away the point of the thread (simple discussion of 4chan on a different site) and promote more insular discussion ITT. Regardless, it's voluntary to begin with and it makes the thread more fun to view.

Oh no I was 13 awhile ago.
I think it got rebranded to this I looked up the old forum name and this came up. https://www.belltreeforums.com/

twitter is a good place to go if you wanna watch fights, tiktok is best for music and shit like edits, tumblr is having a resurgence in popularity right now if you're into fandom culture
also why reddit?
Reddit is sadly the only place to go to nowadays for certain hobbies because traditionalist hobby forums are mostly dead or the discussions has been moved to some gay ass discord or telegram. No thanks

For example, there is a really good Mac System Administrator Slack channel that is THE place to discuss such things, but I am not going to use Slack to talk about fucking fruit devices.

Personally I love the Victory MS designs. The Zanscare Empire MS are quite unique compared to every other antagonist faction (like the Einerad), while the League Militaire machines reflect that they're poor rebels doing everything they can to not die. But I will agree with you that the plot is retarded. It's part of this weird kind of story Tomino wanted to tell about a group of teens surviving a horrific war like with ZZ and F91. Which in the end he was never able to do successfully or in an impactful way.

I’ve been using 8moe in between lurking this place. It seems okay, when it actually works. I don’t get sharty? It mostly seems to be ‘jakposting. I’m not brown or zoomer enough for that place.
