Wife and child are the only two I feel bad about here. It has to be scary to see your husband jeopardize your lives like this. Some people are afraid to get shot or what not, but I find the idea of having my life potentially ruined through no fault of my own more terrifying. I'd rather get hit by a bus than hear "Hey, sorry! I gambled big and lost and now I owe a hot sauce salesmen (possibly) a million dollars that I could have used to improved our lives!" Holy shit.

I think the majority of his audience would let this all go if he would just make speedrunning videos that don't center around drama.

But he's even said in his discord messages that the drama videos, particularly the Billy Mitchell ones, bring in the most money for him. So he seems to be hell bent on doing those.

So I don't think it's likely that he even wants to make strictly speedrunning gaming related videos. But I do still think a lot of his audience would accept these and be willing to let bygons be bygons if he just did this.

But after all this, I personally don't trust his takes on anything unless it's something I can independently verify myself. It's just soured. I'd rather go somewhere else if I want to watch something like this.

Absolutely, it was never anything more than entertainment. I don't personally care if some beaner faked a Super Mario Bros 1 speedrun, its just funny to point and laugh at it

He was the undisputed best player when he was in his prime. Back then he set a lot of world records at many different video games. Some of those Donkey Kong records were cheated. But not the best ones.

Imagine someone competing in javelin (the sport where you throw a spear as far as possible). They throw the spear 100 meters and it’s a new world record.

A few days later they throw the spear 110 meters. A new world record again! But then it turns out that the spear was not up to official standards, it was a bit lighter than a real, official spear and so it was easier to throw it further.

A few days after that the competitor uses a real, official spear again and throws it 120 meters. A new world record again!

Now, did the competitor cheat during the second throw? Yes. While they still made the throw themselves they had an unfair advantage.

Does it matter when they achieved a better throw legitimately after? I guess that’s for you to decide.

you can watch Billy Mitchell playing Pacman live and around a live audience and achieve the Pac-man kill screen after 6 hours. you can decide then if he cheats
