What would be considered "normal" where I am is 1-2 years bench probation. 5 years supervised is a lot.
I'm not surprised it's supervised considering what a gigantic retard Nick has been at every stage in the proceedings, but five years is pretty steep. I think it's basically a probation trap for a total fuckup like Nick.

I really wish we could read the PSI, because the content must be hilarious.

Super strange how 7-8 felony charges across 3 people, converted into 1 deferred max.

I hope for Nick's kids, nobody he scored narcotics from gets arrested.

Nothing strange about it, Nick took possession of all the drugs, that means nobody else could be charged with them. and they wrote a deal around that. Usually the courts are very generous with first offenders when it comes to actual prison time and/or life-ruining fines, if they have a children.

If Nick had been a twice convicted felon with drug charges going back 10 years and either no kids or a massive CPS case and the kids already in foster care, you can bet your ass he would have gotten a real jackpot.

"Kayla I am going to fill up the tank" - Nick once a day
Yes, “fill up” the “skank-tank,” as she is known locally.

It’s kinda a win-win for the court/society. The outcomes are that Nick sobers up and stops being a narcissistic man baby (lol), or he winds up behind bars where he is no longer a menace.

He’s got the (probation) time and willpower (drug addiction) to make this a reality still. I believe in him unlike all of you hater incel prudes.

No question Baldo put himself firmly on the Judges Radar. The Judge and DA know Nick is going to fuck things up. Because they aren't idiots. They see what we see.

The sad thing is Nick does not appreciate the chance he has been given to fix his shit. Nick's a narc. He's incapable of introspection or fixing his shit for the betterment of others

I mean given what we know about Nick, the maximum amount of probation is entirely reasonable. I give the court credit for understanding the type of person Nick is. It is entirely possible that if you haven't seen a lot of him you might be willing to go a bit easier on him. But the court despite not knowing as much about him as we do figured him out.

I'm shocked that so many of you are surprised that he learned nothing and is a total shit head about this whole ordeal. The man's ego is visible from space for fuck sakes, of course he's going to act like a fucking faggot and blame everyone around him instead of coming to a sane conclusion.
That is kind of the appeal is subconsciously we all think surely he will learn, how could he not after all the terrible things happen. But of course he doesn't learn and our (subconscious) expectations are subverted.

Dude hopped off the crack and wound up with the Destiny phenotype.

The hubris and grandiosity of that statement to the judge was galling. I've been lucky enough to know several people whose respective IQs put them at the genius level. One of them politely refused to answer when I did ask his IQ but his mother was present and proudly told me, as mothers do. Counter to stereotype, super-intelligent people aren't nerdy outsiders. They're grounded and funny and insightful, fun to be around. They challenge you.

But Rekieta? He isn't smart. I know smart. He's a petty, vicious, malignant narcissist and considers himself the smartest in the room wherever he goes, all evidence to the contrary. Jails are full of them. When he violates probation (and he almost certainly will) he'll just be one more.
Just a thought, but Rekieta strikes me as one of those people who was a precocious kid. When he was younger, as in elementary and middle school, he very well may have been smarter than his classmates. Not genius level, but the kind of kid who reads at an 8th grade level in 4th grade.

The problem with people like this is that their smarts come naturally to them, at least early on in life. They never have to work for it, so they don't. Their intelligence is good enough for them to get by without putting in a lot of time and effort. Then, when they get to high school, they sort of plateau and fall into the middle of the pack, as far as grades and SAT scores go. But they're still doing well enough to get by, so they still don't put in any serious work. It doesn't help that their parents have probably been telling them what a smart kid they are this whole time, so it inflates their ego on top of the laziness.

They spend their entire young lives being told how smart they are, because they genuinely are a pretty sharp little kid. However, they never develop any work ethic whatsoever, because they never have to. Are you bad at math and science but have an aptitude for English and history? By the time you're thinking about college, you'll just pick a career path that doesn't involve math and science. It would explain why Nick got a creative writing degree. English and writing were his best subjects growing up, so it was the degree where he'd have to put in the least amount of effort.

I can't prove any of this, but it would explain a lot in terms of his life choices and personality.

Add to this having trust fund or parents funding any normal life choices... So basically never really even work for anything long term. Might have worked some in that bank teller job. But even then I wonder if there was any real hardship. After that years of trust fund payments and then easy money from deals.

He really thinks he should get away with all of it.

And why shouldn't he? He's worked hard on having a trust fund, stumbling into a novel genre of videos/live streams, and fucking a coke whore. Maybe if the prudes in the church and court could understand how hard he has it, they'd just let him have all of the drugs he wants. He is mommy and daddy's special boy after all, can you really deny him?
