Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

They tried to copy Firefly and forgot that even though the Independent planets were backwater, they still had assault rifles and tanks when they fought the Alliance.

You're putting too much thought into it. Todd said RDR2 had a good amount of influence on the game, and from that came a surface-level cowboy faction.

Slopfield: Sharted Space
Space cowboys are great. Space cowboys as written by Todd Howard are not.
It’s worse than that. The Freestar collective is space cowboys shoved into the game mid development by Todd, then written by Emil Pagliarulo.

So has bethesda given up on this? Only one (terrible) dlc, no announcements of anything for nearly half a year. Mixed reviews on steam for the base game, mostly negative for the shit dlc.

Is it over?

Is it worth buying this game? I liked Morrowind-Skyrim and the 3d Fallouts minus 4. I played FO4 a lot but never fell in love with it. Are mods just a shitshow now? Do people even make (free) mods for it? None of the pseudo nerds I know irl even talk about it.

If you weren't crazy about Fallout 4 you'll absolutely fucking hate Starfield. It's every shitty aspect of Fallout 4 dialed up to 11.

It's in a holding pattern. If the game was a massive hit they would have done spinoffs, side content, board games, an Amazon show, tons of merchandise. Bethesda doesn't really have the manpower to juggle Elder Scrolls, Fallout, their other series, and more Starfield games simultaneously. Maybe in a decade if Bethesda still exists it gets a sequel. But this "franchise" seems dead on arrival.
Is it worth buying this game?
It's not even worth playing if it was free. It is forgettable and mediocre in nearly all ways. The lowest effort slop. I shudder to think what the next Elder Scrolls and Fallout games will be like based on the abortion that Starfield was.

it's a upgrade to the most irrelevant and hated system of fallout 4: base building.
the shipbuilding is cool but they fumbled the bag massively with it by making shipbuild a decorative mechanic.

no, buy fallout4 or skyrim instead and mod the shit out of it.
pirate this one if you like space shit.
And i'm still waiting when Bethsoft drops the support of this game.
If modding is literal worse than FO4, i don't have any hopes.
character modeling is like FNV, you can look at the loverslab thread so a regular /vg/ coomposter can't do the weird pubic hair tacticslut outfit they would normally ritualpost on 4cucks, i have no idea if it allows for extra slots like skyrim/FNV does though and after loverslab jannies killed FO4 modding because dilating reasons i would rather wait for TES6/FO5.

Hardly: Its a fucking downgrade considering what a fucking mess it is to try and get it working. Supply lines are strictly one way so you need to build two pads to move resources around, there's no easy way to automate resource distribution so you can't have a production hub on one planet get funneled resources from everywhere else while making sure everything else has what is needed, no colonists moving in to work on your bases as miners or farmers or what have you.

I fucking loved the base building stuff in FO4, along with all the various add-ons to add more shit to add. It's like playing an uglier version of The Sims where you can (within seconds) go from playing "build a dollhouse for your idiot sims" to "get the mini nuke loaded and melt the fucking idiot dipshit raider faggots who thought they could steamroll a settlement (fortified with high-powered laser turrets and deadly sentry bots) with a sack of pipe guns.

It's a shame that they don't allow you to inspect the ship to see how each module looks like and to make sure that the ladders appear at the right place before validating the changes.
Also I hate how the game can't create a path from the bridge to the airlock if you put a prefab from another manufacturer between them.

For cheap, sure. You will need a bunch of mods though.

Can you even make settlements in Starfield like you could for Fallout 4?
No. It's apparently been stripped down so badly that all you can manage is sort of "custom layout" refinement outposts. Nothing feels "lived-in" and certainly nobody ever actually shows up to live in it.

Absolutely not. I got it for free and still felt ripped off. If you must play something in space with base building autism, No Man's Sky and Empyrian: Galactic Survival are much better choices. The Riftbreaker is also pretty fun if you don't mind top-down twin-stick shooters.
