"Law enforcement agencies may release footage at their discretion if it “aids the law enforcement process, promotes public safety, or dispels widespread rumor or unrest” (per Minnesota Statute 13.82, subd. 15). This is often used in high-profile cases to address public concerns."
Many of you are concerned about the widespread conspiracy that exists in Kandiyohi County in regards to the unlawful prosecution of Nick Rekieta. Rekieta has variously said the following:
1. The sole drug testing facility of Kandiyohi County is providing false reports that
2. The Judges of Kandiyohi County are aware of and choose not to acknowledge to avoid having to review every inmate of the County Jail.
3. The police of Kandiyohi County had personal grudges against Nick Rekieta which led to mistreatment during their search and
4. The police of Kandiyohi County made no effort to correctly determine who was in possession of which controlled substances and instead simply placed the blame on Nick Rekieta whom they already did not like.
5. The police of Kandiyohi County trained to identify drugs are unable to execute that job correctly and falsely identified multiple controlled substances which did not exist.
The release of bodycam footage would clear up all of these points. In particular, if the drugs were responsibly stored and inaccessible to his children, we would know the false positive is more plausible. If the police mistreated April, it would be on the footage. If the police took necessary precautions to determine who possessed what, it would be in the footage. The substances needing to be identified could perhaps be better identified by the public, or at least the public could see if the mistakes made by the certified drug expert were reasonable.
To this end, I request any and all statements made by Rekieta, at any time, written or spoken, which would support these points. If you have anything to add, please say so here.
