I don't think it was a master plan from Alex. I remember him saying he found BBL on salon96 or something like this and being happy about it.

I am fully inclined to believe he thought he made a friend and fell for the retarded logic of "you won't have access to the account if I do". Then panicked and told mom when he realized what was happening. Considering she was already aware of the thread, she would have found out eventually.

I do feel sorry for her that she had to get involved in the humiliation ritual to prevent further damage to her reputation.

She did mention how many people here tried to help him mitigate the situation only for him to make it worse. I can't imagine the despair it was to see this over and over.
