Many people say they mostly went to 4chan for the hobby boards. Shit like /ck/, /po/, /o/, /fit/, /vr/, or all of these other "small" boards.

Used to post on numerous boards back in the day, but by the end of it I was barely even posting because I'd always keep getting banned for bullshit. This then lead to me not only posting less, but even browsing less and less boards until in the end I was really only browsing /v/, /pol/ and /biz/.
I will say though, I don't think over-jannying was completely to blame for the site going to shit, Discord was also one of the culprits.
"Wow this general thread filled with a bunch of anonymous users is quite popular! I should make a discord for it!"
Then the users would flock to the server and thread would slow down significantly and the quality would decrease.

Discord is cancer.

Well that's what I'm saying. If you're a techfag who can stand up a community, stand up a board, and regulate it as you think is necessary to the benefit of the community. I will miss the niche hobby communities but the reason places like /ck/ and /fit/ were slow is because you can't get anything done sitting all day talking about it and nauseam
/Fit/ /out/ and /ck/ and many other hobby boards required it's userbase(if not larping) to actually take time being productive with their lives offline

I've checked out 13 alt chains including .se and soy and their /pol/ boards are dead garbage
No current news or events
And nobody bumping the emergency generals
/Fit/ on soy is also garbage shitposting(sadly)
