Unschooling - We don't need no education.

I have two guesses as to why parents choose to mentally stunt their own children. The first is a need for control. If their children are always dependent on them, they will always have something they can control. The second, a bit more out there, but I have known parents with this tendency; they have a fear of getting older and their kids moving out of the house, so they purposely stunt their own children's development so they can pretend they ravages of aging doesn't apply to them.
So the Borb method then?

Makes sense the parent wants their child to be as mentally stunted as they are, if they're doing that. Just gives me all the more reason to call them out on their shitty parenting.

Anyone heard of modern alternative mama? She's a woo peddler that is a big proponent of unschooling. She brags about her 7 year old daughters inability to read, and openly admits that she let's her kids play minecraft all day.

She chimps out a lot so she's definitely a fun one.

Her name is Kate Tietje. She’s a a young-earth Creationist, an anti-vaxxer and refuses to use antibiotics, for starters.

“There’s no possible way to argue realistically, that any child is in danger because they don’t have vaccines. Chances are, if they get sick, they’ll pull through just fine. They may not get sick. On the other hand, every vaccine injected poses an immediate risk”.

“I’m not willing to put my children at risk on the tiny chance that it might someday prevent another child from getting a disease (that most likely won’t harm him or her). No, I don’t think it’s selfish to say that. In fact, I think it’s selfish for people to ask me to vaccinate when I’ve made a decision not to. That’s right — you’re being selfish to try to force your will onto me.”

When her child broke his arm, she ignored it for a week before finally taking him to the ER, after her chiropractor told her he was fine though.

Her natural, homemade attempts to clean her house of mold worked so well that she lost her house to the mold.

She is profoundly anti-science:

“Next time someone tells you that you should fall in line because this is “evidence based medicine” and the results are published in “peer reviewed journals,” tell them just how little faith you have in these, and exactly why. Instead, tell them you believe God created us perfectly and we don’t need these interventions in almost any case to continue to be perfect. God gave us all the medicine we need all around us, which Chinese medicine and other natural healing takes advantage of (a topic for another blog post later).”

“God gave us food. God gave us plants, animals, grains, herbs…. God gave us all of this amazing, wonderful creation! We should thank Him for it and appreciate it. We should partake of it and be glad. When we align ourselves with God and His creation, we can be the best version of ourselves, and fulfill the destiny that He has laid out for us. We cannot change our destiny. We cannot use God’s creation as a substitute for God. We cannot make our lives longer or avoid hardships that God has chosen uniquely for us. We will still experience illness and sorrow and challenges. Choosing to follow God’s path does not exempt us from that; the Bible is clear about this.”

I love it how all these people seem to forget that dying of a simple infection or cold was common 100+ years ago

Her last name means "titty".

These fundamentalist imbeciles always seem to forget that before modern medicine, children generally died of shit like polio, or women died in childbirth much more often.

If she's so anti science, why the fuck does she have a website?

The same reason as other anti-science tards go to the doctors, to hospitals, use cars, computers, and all sorts of technology. Michelle Duggarsaid that she and Jim-Bob would have all the children that God wanted to give the, yet they needed hospital intervention for the last couple of babies, Michelle almost died in the second to last pregnancy, and the baby almost died in the last pregnancy, IIRC.

But it wasn't science that saved the baby, it was god. Just as it is god who allows Kate to have a website.

Just sound like terrible people to me.

"In fact, I think it’s selfish for people to ask me to vaccinate when I’ve made a decision not to."

Urge to A-Log rising...

You know what's really selfish? Giving other peoples' kids the mumps.

Like I just don't get it. Yeah these diseases aren't necessarily a death sentence but they're still brutally painful and debilitating. I remember my dad told me he got my siblings and I vaccinated as soon as possible because he actually had whooping cough as a kid and he didn't want any of us to go through that.

It's like these people are giving Polio a free pass back into the country if they keep this up.
That's exactly what's happening, although not with polio (in the US, yet). There's been outbreaks of measles and whooping cough centered in communities where, surprise surprise, there's low rates of vaccination.

There's news out there that the Americas have eliminated measles, but that's not entirely true. People traveling can still bring it in the country and spread it among communities with low vaccination rates. IIRC, the most recent outbreak was spread by an unvaccinated child who contracted measles at Disneyworld in CA. That shitty Kate lady is actively participating in bringing back previously eradicated illnesses to the US.

These people should be treated like Typhoid Mary and locked the fuck up. They can rejoin humanity when they aren't filthy Children of Nurgle.

You think this lady is trying her best to bring us to Pre-Industrial Era levels of life expectancy in a "morally" nihilistic way?
