I will concede that perhaps they lost a good chunk of this fan base when Ben left but I do think there was still a remaining number who are more like Ed who take a more centrist approach as Ed is actually really well received by the fan base as is and they do think he brought back more humour to the show. I think Markus is sort of the least popular and his long Covid bullshit is basically just him upset he's getting old.

I don't hate Ed but he's definitely just these guys drug dealer they'd hang out with who became part of the gang. He is very simpleton and I think even if those people aren't even voters at all that Henry went hard enough to just offend reasonable sensibilities which is not surprising for a guy who tried to somewhat make a career out of it but I think if Ben was there, he would have pulled Henry back from at least expressing that level of hate on the show.

I've actually enjoyed the stream they do way, way more than the podcast now. They pick some wild shit to show on stream and the way they react to it is at least better than the reaction channels because they actually try to entertain. All other streams by the network are shit though. I also checked out tickets for a show they're doing near me and lowest price started at $75 so I'm sure they'll be fine.

oh i stopped listening a long time before, but just in general they seemed a lot less crazy a decade ago. i don't think they realized how huge the show would get or the demo so they were just having a "hang" and just so happened to have mics there capturing it, truely capturing the ethos of the 2010s era podcasts, before it became a chore and ad filled and the hosts clearly just going through the motions and hating the audience.

I used to listen to Page 7 every once in a while. I found it was a better morning commute listen than LPotL. Jackie's schtick would get a little grating but she was a lot like her brother in that her personality was tempered by the other two hosts.

Before Trump's election they were certainly left-leaning but mostly kept it out of the podcast. But MAN it fell off hard come 2016 and I understand one of the hosts has completely lost her mind and has come out as trans since then lol

No? In general people will sub and if they have the income stick around forever. Literally look at cable and Lindsey Ellis. Chapo trap House has gone from 5 hosts down to like 2 who are black pilled and hate talking politics yet no one is dropping subscribers.

In general these shows plateau and can coast forever. Same way AOL was making a billion off of dial up in the 2010s

The Quality I personally think has dropped significantly. I recently returned because episodes about Chad Daybell and Lori vallow as well as the wreck of the Batavia were topics I was interested in.
Even though they're great topics I find they're more constantly derailing, more political commentary sprinkled in and nothing for shock value anymore.
It's kind of the "Howard Stern effect" youno you enter the mainstream and the mainstream also enters you. No more making fun of retards, there's avoided words and topics suddenly. Trigger warnings like it's a true crime podcast why would I listen if I were so fragile.

I'm on the Hunt for a True crime podcast that actually has a sense of humor and not one that the punchline to every joke is gay-sex and what you need for it to feel good. That's not a joke.

It's pretty clear though they don't even want listeners like the ones that post here which is lame (For drama hawks/commentators like them) I imagine a lot of us come from the very beginning.

There's nothing relatable or funny about people in Hollywood. Or people who drop friends like they're inconveniences

I’ve never understood why the true crime podcasts do that. “Hey guys, we talk about murder and rape in our podcast about rape and murder.”

Felt the exact same way about the show. I caught it near the very start and loved the show and listened to it religiously. Loved the chemistry between the three of them and how they didn't try and filter themselves as much as other true crime podcasts. The 'Leonard Lake & Charles Ng' series was one of my favourites, as well as the early one-off episodes like the 911 calls and the spree killer episodes.

Then I started to get irked about Marcus constantly laughing at every little thing. I get your joking around with friends, and it's a comedy podcast, but his laugh became so forced to the point where he'd instantly stop and move onto the next part of the story. It didn't feel natural and it bugged me. Then over time the manic shouting by Henry got less and less funny, and it felt like the jokes were being forced into the episode way too much. The earlier episodes felt like three friends naturally joking around subjects. The newer ones felt way too forced and that they were trying too hard to be funny. I remember just exclusively listening to the side stories episodes with Ben and Henry since they felt a little easier to handle.

I hadn't listened to LPOTL in a couple of years since they moved exclusively to Spotify and realised they'd purposefully chose not to archive a good portion of their earlier episodes to (I presume) appease their new platform. When Ben got kicked off that was probably the final nail in the coffin for me. I actually didn't mind Ben that much. He had some weird moments and would sperge too much at times, but compared to Marcus and Henry he was probably the most tolerable of the three for me. Marcus did the 'research' (basically reading cliffnotes of books on the topic while skimming Wikipedia), Henry would be the autistic fanboy who had to sperge about how intelligent he was on the topic, and Ben was the dumb idiot who knew nothing (which was least annoying). The content took a massive decline from what it used to be and I've never liked when podcasts throw in a new host and pretend like the old one didn't exist and it's always been the current ones, so I've got no intention of listening to any of the new episodes. It's a shame because it was pretty entertaining at one point.

Ben being the big dumb straight-man was my favorite part for a long time. The way he said Rasputin still makes me laugh. When he started really showing signs of wear, it got hard to listen to the podcast at all. He would throw things out there and I’d just be like “damn Ben doesn’t anybody love you?!” And then they all just dropped him in the most soulless, “and now a word from our sponsor, Betterhelp,” way that I couldn’t forgive.

I listened to one or two of the episodes without him out of curiosity, but they’ve kept the worst and most formulaic parts and gotten rid of any remaining soul so I don’t listen anymore.

Does anyone know what all ended up happening with that crazy pussy Ben stuck his dick in? I haven’t been keeping track of their drama since the first initial blowup. Is she still making a nuisance of herself? Are the other 2 and their women still maintaining that she’s a credible source of information?

Looks like he's gone on to do another true crime podcast called Death in Entertainment with two other guys. Apparently a podcast about true crime in Hollywood.

I took a few minutes listening to it and it does sound like your normal amateur slop podcast but it's at least more tolerable than LPOTL.

The podcast has become hit or miss lately. The last good one was the Black Dahlia one. The first episode of the Chad Davell/Lori Vallow series which focused on Chad Davell was good but the remaining three installments were a little blah because Lori was a basic bitch NPD cunt who did all sorts of evil shit and seemed to dominate the story, making me kind of wish that they would have just threaded the Davell stuff into the other three episodes since Lori seemed to be the driving force in the murders.

I REALLY REALLY wanted to like the Batavia series. But the pacing was shit, there was a segment on people in the story eating maggots and insects that made me want to puke, and there was WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY too much Trump Derangement Syndrome and Elon Musk Derangement Syndrome crap, as far as Marcus looking for every possible way to derail and contort the story of the Batavia into a #Resistance story while openly shitting on DODGE/cheering on the traitors in the government trying to commit treason and derail the Trump Administration 2.0 in it's first couple of days, trying his damnest midway in the story to compare MAGA to the villains of the Batavia story as as "DAMN THAT MAGA FOR MAKING PEOPLE VOTE AGAINST THEIR BEST INTEREST! DON'T THOSE FILTHY SMELLY PEASANTS NOT KNOW THAT ONLY THE DEMOCRAT AND THE ELITE CELEBRITY CLASS KNOWS WHAT IS GOOD FOR THEM?????" and the ending, where the classic meme of "GET THE NET! MARCUS HAS GONE TOTALLY INSANE!" finally fucking came true a far as Marcus snapping and going on a mentally ill screed about how Musk and Trump's downfall is inevitable and the masses need to riot again like they did in the Summer of Hate.

I haven't even listened to the two parter about the Aussie who went on a shooting spree and his spree was then mercilessly exploited by the fascist left in Australia to ban all guns in the country yet for fear of Marcus and Ben interjecting in the episodes every five minutes crying about why the US government won't ban guns like the Aussies did.

That being said, the only good thing in the last couple of months is that they are finally making free the Last Update On the Left Episodes, granted one per month. And the "Ed is the worthwhile person left on the show" meme came true somewhat with Ed being given the floor to ask all sorts of questions about government conspiracy theory shit for Marcus and Ben to answer on this week's episode.

Still wondering when the OJ remake series drops. They tease it at the start of the year after missing the 30th anniversary of the murders.

So some updates:

1. Henry's dad died last week and they ran the Columbine Last Update episode to basically allow them to give Henry time off to deal with his loss, with a new intro from Ed and Marcus put on the LUOTL episode explaining the deal with them (Sirius had them exclusive for about a year and that has now expired; and they are going to be sporadically posted going forward whenever the show needs to take a week off).

2. The Columbine LPOTL episode was shit; no going into details about how Cullen's book was dogshit PR dick sucking for the high school; just them retroactively saying Dylan was a piece of shit and they regret saying he was a dumb blond along for the ride

3. This week starts a planned three part episode on the assassination of Lincoln/John Wilkes booth as their big summer series. First episode was shitty with Derick Chavin bashing, John Brown apologizing, and basically bashing the south. However, they do mention the whole "actors are lower than prostitutes" meme and go all in on Booth being a nepo baby.

I'm honestly surprised they haven't retroactively gone back and started censoring old episodes like Leonard Lake and Charles Ng with how bad it's gotten. They've completely given in to their alcoholic, dyed hair, BPD, goth fat chick audience. Zabrowski even married one and allowed her to completely chop off his balls.

I honestly hope the podcast fails at this point because they threw their best friend under the bus over allegations from a certifiably insane woman. Absolutely shameful.
