The Elder Scrolls

So let me get this straight - they re-released an almost 20 year old game but didn't fix any of the underlying problems of the gameplay that mods themselves fixed and did a sprinkling of SJW bullshit?

Whack.

Can you imagine taking a time machine from 2006 to 2025 and then finding out everyone is playing the same shit but with better graphics?
Even more pathetic because you can make original Oblivion look good already. This makes the "muh graphics" part of the demaster even less necessary, unless you're a console pleb. You can mod Fallout 3/New Vegas to look like a modern game too, it's nothing special and certainly not worth a re-release.
Also, we're being generous and pretending that soulless UE5 slop without any art direction actually looks good to begin with.

I don't play Skyrim in almost half a decade, anyone recommend gameplay mods that improve the game without trying to copy Dark Souls or some other gay zoomer clique? Yknow, tighter RPG character mechanics, being able to affect the world more as discussed in the thread, etc. The only mod I used to play with was Midas but I dunno if people made better ones.

Bethesda doesn't get enough hate for how incredibly bad their systems are; they're almost on the same tier as FATAL.

The combat system was difficult to make sense of and even when I began to understand it I was still doing very little damage and missing the majority of hits, I believe you have to use weapons that you have either a major or minor skill in and the more you do the more experience you gain allowing your attacks to hit more often right? I was trying to do that and it was still just dreadful, maybe I just wasn't getting something?
The combat system is basically tabletop, your hit rolls are affected by attack rating which is derived from weapon main stat and weapon skill and you have to beat their defense rating. The problem for modern gamers is that they don't feel they should be able to fuck up in character creation as hard as Morrowind would let you fuck up.

Also the damage rolls are pretty high variance and they for some reason gave you the ability to fuck up your swing animation to do even lower damage (although you can and should change that in options)

Shame modern games don’t even bother giving you directions, a magical arrow just tells you where you need to go.

Problem is you need it, without the arrow you’d have no idea where to go.
I remember once going back to Half Life 2 after playing other games that plastered the screen with objective markers in the late 2000s or early 2010s. Because the HUD disappeared when not in use and there were no objective markers, I was worried I wouldn't know where to go. I was surprised that I could navigate the levels without that arrow; I always somehow knew where to go. I know it's harder to pull off in open worlds vs a linear shooter, but it really does help with immersion and satisfaction.

Personally disagree, I haven't played the other games but I think some parts of the game are kinda pretty to look at, especially the wooded and marshy areas to the south and east. Really like the look of Telvanni architecture too, reminds me of "living ship" interiors in sci-fi. Admittedly the bleakness of the ashlands can get rather tiresome, but it's still visually interesting enough to me to be tolerable.
The Ascadian Isles region in Morrowind around Vivec and Suran genuinely looks really nice in a green Mediterrenean sort of way, especially if you can turn the draw distance up. I'd easily take it over colour-vomit OG Oblivion.

If HL2 gets remade today, there will be yellow paint everywhere

I agree, but only if it was made by someone other than Valve. They know how to move people along without making it glaringly obvious.
Meanwhile, Dying Light 2 was coated with yellow paint everywhere; no need to figure out where to go since all the paths were yellow (even in places it didn't make sense). The best part of that game was turning on the power stations because it didn't have waypoints and yellow paint everywhere; I actually had to think.

Anyways, I'll stop before I shit up the thread too much.

Not that world-ending events are bad, I just wish they were slowly introduced

I hate when games start out with a world ending threat front and center. Particularly in JRPGs but it really goes for all games. It makes the whole narrative rushed when played straight and retarded when treated like you have all the time in the world. It isn't just a problem in games either.

Decided to finish my OpenMW play through because of remaster. Was it really necessary to make Anvil so fucking big? I mean... look at this shit.

The problem with Morrowind is the directions are awful. They’re all terrible, and some of them are just actually incorrect, like the first House Redoran quest.
You are a bling nigger. I can barely speak English and had no problems with directions and a lot of times, an NPC just marks a location on a map for you. The main problem/frustration with no markers is an item hunt. I spend hours searching that fucking cup with six house markings.

In Skyrim you can't even fail quests.
you mean important quests? because you can fail skyrim quests, it's just hard and it has to be one of the radiants, i think they didn't want people failing quests all around forcing them to reload a save.

also there is a video by tera showing many voice actor differences.
i only disagree with him on the extra voice recording like the guards, i do hate and believe they shouldn't have re-recorded character lines and kept them with the original voice like falanu hlaalu being fucking bri'ish out of fucking nowhere or menien, the re-records lack emotion not to mention they are voices from TESO and Skyrim, at least mods can restore them back.

uh... yeah gonna need a single shred of evidence for that lmao, Even ultra modded videos have the NPC's in oblivion look like melted candles still.

That said deadly reflex makes the remaster worthless gameplay wise.
I already posted a video of some random coomer making the game look drastically better(no, not the boobs), the same one that some retard had a fit over because he thought it would make the game run out of memory when used. ENB also exists, which you can play around with to make the game look exactly how you want it. If some random porn addict can make the game look good, so can you.
Beauty/graphical overhaul mods are the most basic thing people can make and one of, if not the first thing on everyone's modlists. If you're asking me "How do I make this game that people had 20 years to mod look good" when this is something that is one of the first priorities for modders, shows me you aren't actually that deep in the modding scene of Bethesda games. Don't worry, you're clearly not alone, just a few pages ago there was yet another retard who didn't know how the Creation Engine worked.
This is possibly the only reason to play the demaster: If you're too stupid to look up a youtube tutorial that tells you how to set up mods for the original game.
  • Radiant AI.
  • Some people travel between cities.
  • People react to your attributes/skill scores.
  • Yield mechanic.
  • Powerful ragdoll physics.
And so on.
It gets worse, apparently some of these mechanics ARE in the game, but merely in the code or barely implemented. For example there is water movement when you shoot arrows or bullets into a lake but only one area in the game uses this, similar to arrows bouncing off one particular cannonball set in the game where as they stick everywhere else. This might have been patched to work elsewhere, but that's how it worked when I was paying attention to the game.

Holly fuck! I am more concerned with Ulene Hlervu looking like a troon with AIDS. It was a legit jump-scare!

Holy shit, the dunmers looks worse than before. Wtf.

Not ONLY them you mean.... right? 🥺

It's an ES game, everyone looks like they have AIDs or are troons! The NPCs might not always be as bad as the player options (which is a hint about the order of the ugliness staring from early to later not the other way around as it should be) but.. well i can't comprehend how someone could even make characters models look so bad intentionally.

Getting real tired of this pretentious nigger shitting up this thread. Like, what is he even still doing here. It's so painfully obvious all his knowledge comes from kiketube videos like this one, it's not even funny.
You can't mod Oblivion to look good. You can tweak it to look less ancient or maybe decent for a 2006 release, and that cannot be done without ENB, which is the most unoptimized garbage ever released on top of being bugged to shit. It cannot even handle transparency properly, which causes issues like pitch-black insides of Oblivion gates, flame-less torches and atronachs, random blocky environmental shadows, shadows cutting off in first person view and ice spells turning into black voids. The most notorious example is Roxey Inn, which contains 4 NPCs using leveled equipment who absolutely TANK the framerate (120 to 10) when you enter for absolutely no reason.
Then there's LODgen, which is a whole different can of worms. Not only does it kill your framerate, it's also prone to bricking your saves or straight up shitting itself mid-generation, which can take literal hours. Even if you do succeed in setting it up, it will never reach the level of LODs in the remaster.

I'm standing next to the IC Prison (1), and the Oblivion gate (2) near my crosshair is right next to Roxey Inn (3).

In the original that would disappear somewhere the islet's depth into the water, around where the upper right of the "a" is. I still don't actually know when (or if at all) does it vanish in the remaster, because it was impossible to see due to terrain and buildings being in the way.
I've already reached the on-foot speed cap in the remaster, and the game doesn't stutter when I'm sprinting which is miles above what's possible in the original. That's how fucking good the LODs are, and I have view distance set only to MEDIUM. In the 2006 game chugging a couple good feather potions will cause you to run so fast you will constantly be staring at a "Loading area..." prompt.

I don't know who pissed in your cereal, faggot - but you're objectively wrong about literally everything you said about Oblivion. You're huffing so much copium and are so deep in denial that Egypt will soon issue a fatwa on you. Unfortunately you ran into a sperg who knows this game inside and out, and worse yet, remembers how it was perceived in 2006, what it looks like vanilla and how it plays vanilla.
Now press that tophat button and sit the fuck down.
