IMO there's nothing inherently wrong with this, it's a fun way to incentivize participating. However, on a forum full of retarded meatheads, it often leads to trash comments that don't add anything in threads, made by people that just want to get to the next sparkle effect on their name.

I don't think most users post low quality comments to farm post count, I think they do it simply because they're retarded.

That said, you're probably right Master/Lamarcus, the obese Alabama negro, likely added special colors for post count numbers to bait more posting on the site.
