Coast to Coast AM - Kiwifarms Open Lines

Art Bell was the best. He was such a good interviewer and just let people get their ideas out. I always wanted to call but never did, too scared. I got into him when all the Heaven's Gate stuff was happening.
That's very true. In my mind, Art set the standard. He didn't let people push him around or waste time (TURN DOWN YOUR RADIO), and he asked questions that kept the guesting talking about interesting things.

Compare how Art handles the Area 51 caller

to George Noory (just kind of click around to hear what I mean)

This is also a good thread to discuss the songs that Art used in his show bumpers.
This is one of my favorite songs overall, and the voices of Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson are all unique sounding on their own, and come together at the end in a pleasing way.
I wouldn’t have discovered this song without Art. It’s also one of my favorite “weird” songs.

I swear Art must have ranted about this song for at least five minutes when he found it and added it to his beds
good shit

wonder if there's any airchecks of him spinning on KNYE

Art Bell's Bumper Music (1988-2015) on Spotify, they have all of his bumper music except for two songs that I have only heard once on Ghost to Ghost AM. I forget which year they were used, it was between 1994 and 1997. If it wasn't for Art Bell I probably wouldn't have discovered all of the these great songs. These two songs would become my favorite Rolling Stones covers.

London Symphony Orchestra - Sympathy for the Devil

London Symphony Orchestra - Paint It, Black

I assume then, since that other poster found a torrent with most of them, that virtually all of Art Bell's shows have been preserved?

Regardless, this one was entertaining. He is talking to the author of The Turner Diaries, who is, predictably, utterly batshit:

Yeah but it's Internet Archive we we all know we can't trust those guys.

Yes, a long time ago I found an FTP site that contains most if not all of Art's shows, including midnight in the desert and others. It's my go to source for shows when I want to listen.

I’ve found that there are some people on the Art Bell subreddit who have personally archived his shows and have them open to the public to download.

It’s one of the least retarded and insufferable subreddits that I’ve found. But it’s still a little stupid and annoying because it’s Reddit.

On an episode of C2CAM in October 2001, Art Bell interviewed Crystal Gayle for 2 hours to talk about the song she recorded for him. Art had lunch with Crystal earlier in the day when he first heard the song. He loved it and felt the song was a perfect fit for the show.

I don't care if it was just him jerking off over how cool he was for an entire episode, he earned it.
Like that time Leiji Matsumoto got an asteroid named for him and he immediately halted the current Harlock story to make sure Harlock went to HIS LEGENDARY ASTEROID BASE THAT HE ALWAYS HAD, NAMED FOR HIS LEGENDARY ANCESTOR

Back in college I used to listen to Art late into the night while studying. It was all bullshit, but it was such entertaining bullshit, and Art always acted so professional towards his guests. Found a huge torrent a few years back with all C2C episodes from the beginning up to around 2015 or so, plus Dreamland and you better fucking believe I downloaded it the second I saw it listed. Still entertaining
Downloaded that same torrent and have my morning alarm set to a random episode. Always puts me a in a good mood to hear Art.

I have never heard of Art Bell or Coast to Coast. I see there's a vault, any suggestions on topics to listen to? Should I listen chronologically?
there's a few that have some continuity like I think Mel's Hole was actually a couple of eps, or that guy who had the dead Bigfoot, regular guests like Ed Dames, Richard Hoagland, or whatsherface the gal who did her own shit, they all are more "so what's the latest from Planet Nutball" semi-topical things
but usually your average Coast to Coast guest is divorced from reality enough that it really doesn't matter when you listen

I'd say roughly like MST3k, you can usually sorta peg when it was made but beyond that it's not really that relevant to your enjoyment, but if you do happen to have it in sequential order in front of you why not

I don't think anyone listened to it chronologically. Even when it was first airing, we all discovered it independently.
I'd recommend starting with any random Open Lines and it's best enjoyed at night. I mean that. Nighttime is when it originally aired, and that's the best time to feel the vibe.

I personally enjoy the Ghost To Ghost episodes. He did them annually for Halloween. They were caller submitted ghost stories. Open Lines are usually good.

This is another song from Art’s bumpers that I added to my personal playlist. It reminds me of muggy Deep Southern summers with Spanish Moss trees.

I always liked his episodes on cryptids a lot. There was an episode where some guy called in with a story about hunting bobcats with his buddies in Texas and encountering something. I think the same episode had another guy who was a deputy sheriff or something and was with his buddy innawoods(I think the SE US). They were shooting guns when they encountered the same thing. I don't want to spoil too much but you can probably figure out what it was. I wish I could remember what episode it was, I used to stream them off the archive and the page I had bookmarked got removed years ago.

Anyways I thought those stories were cool, true or not(we'll never know).

This stuff always reminds me of a rapidly shrinking culture. AM talk radio itself is probably on its way out, unfortunately. All of the corporate conglomerates that package multiple stations together and strip and sanitize everything kills that authentic feel you used to get with local stations with local DJs. If there's even anything like that still around, it's usually some faggot stuffed away in a studio somewhere in California or NYC who phones it in to be dispatched around the country. Corporate pre-approved segments with rehearsed "callers" phoning it in from the booth next door. Safe-edgy to keep the advertising jews happy.

Jewtube used to be the new place where you could hear (and see!) a random schizo ramble about anything, until the adpocalypse and the kikes and pajeets started deleting everything too outrageous. Rumble kinda took that mantle for a few, but is increasingly headed the same direction of "safe-edgy". Yeah, Crowder might call out the globohomo BS, but you'll never hear nigger or faggot uttered on Rumble. What's left? Oddysee? Maybe Bitchute? The constant consolidation of every outlet is horrifying.
