Characters can affirm their male identity a million times over and self-inserting troons will still go "OMG he's literally me".

It's really only a tranny thing and, aside from Naoto, not really FTM thing. That crowd instead just seems to obsess over yaoi. It's just a weird extension of the anime faghag scene.

You have to skinwalk as a complete npc to exist in the fgc. At least 60% of players are gay, trannies, or gooners. possibly 30% are all three. I didn't get involved in the scene until around 2017 so I don't know how long it's been a problem, but it feels like it exploded around covid.

The real tragedy of the modern world is you can't be a pretty man or a girl that likes boyish activities without mentally ill troons trying to box you into their subgroups. And through this behavior you are classified that way by the rest of society. The death of the tomboy is the single most heinous event in human history and I am still deeply malding.

That would have been it in my opinion at least. I began around 2012, and while there were plenty of eccentrics it wasn't until a decade later that half the people in the scenes near me started cutting their dicks off. It's corny, but it feels like I lost a second family in a way. When you spent so many of your formative years running locals to bring people together to have cookouts and get wasted only for most of them to go on to wear skirts and go to the chop shop you get a little down about the whole thing.

And that's in person. Public discords? Forget it, not even for the more mainstream games. Hell, +R's discord's main admin is playing a porn game 80% of the time he's on, and it's right there in his status that everybody in the server can see at all times. Everybody just talks porn and politics, and you get shot for calling people perverts or not toeing the line. You really do have to skinwalk to be around people you can't stand to play a game you're avoiding because it's full of them. It's a nonsense situation, and it sucks having your hobby ruined by perverts who can't stop jacking off to Astolfo porn.

Exactly, they take everything for themselves and only appreciate it in the most warped, surface-value way. By and large they're not into playing, or the traveling (not that they could afford it since they're all no-dick jobless eunuchs). They take it all, then make it all about themselves, and install themselves as this 'digital dindu' class of degenerates that can get away with anything and everything until some big drama comes out and the lowest on the rung gets offered up as a sacrificial lamb until the next incident.

I didn't expect to get so incensed over this, it's not a problem unique to fighting games (or to myself), but holy shit it really does feel like a part of my soul was ripped out when they came along and took the hobby for themselves. Bringing people together for events (mostly the hangouts after the event) gave me some purpose for a long ass time and carried me through boring, miserable jobs. All of that was taken away by jobless perverts.

These people will tell you gender either isn't real or some kind of infinite spectrum, and you should be able to just do whatever and dress however you want without having to be afraid to be seen a certain way. But at the same time, a girl with interests mostly associated with guys (radios and electronics in Fuuka's case) just HAS to be a trans girl. Like, how else can you explain those interests? Does she just... Like certain "non-girly" things? Nope, she has to have been a guy, otherwise it wouldn't make sense!

The archetype I mention of the evil twink existed since some time in anime and manga. Some of them do look feminine like that, but their personalities are dangerous instead of wholesome. Many troons are weebs, but they do not seem to know much of this archetype (Griffith from Berserk is an example but not the only one, and it does appear in questionable female oriented media)
I do wonder somehow in the 2010's they got in contact with some anime about a "yandere" one that looked "uwu cute" that while committing morally repugnant actions, and it turned into a meme roughly similar to Boku no Pico for the insanity of the character would affect their perception of the aesthetic.

It's a great villain archetype too. Everytime a good manga author takes a crack at using it they always create a real freak.
