2023 Israel-Palestine Armed Conflict

They’re as innocent as the Germans in WWII. I’m not especially sympathetic, but the difference between complacent good people and complacent bad people entirely comes down to their surroundings, and 90%+ of people are complacent in one flavor or the other. A large part of the Gazan population were willing to work in peace in Israel without going all jihad, and I think saving those is a good thing.
You sow the wind, you reap the whirlwind.

Israeli Channel 14: 'There are dozens of fires burning across the country, and not a single one of them is located in an Arab area'

Israeli Fire Commissioner: 'The firestorm is spreading at a significant rate. Winds are expected to worsen, and the fires will become more severe the next 24 hours'

NEW: Israel has requested international assistance to combat the ongoing fires, reaching out to Cyprus, Croatia, Greece, and Italy for support.

The Israel goverment is saying that the fires have been contained and that the Greeks, Italians, and Cypritats are flying in fire-fighting planes. The Israel government really should invest in fire-fighting planes. The area is quite dry regardless of terrorism.

Happy independence day for the few Israeli kiwis.

It's the kind of expenditure that's only useful once in every couple of years and will basically sit and rust until then.

True but Israel is like Utah, it can get REALLY dry. So it is worth having. A bit of political sperging, but this once again shows the short sightedness of the Bibi government. I really hope the arsonist is not a terrorist but one of those mentally ill guys that become arsonists because they really love fire or it was an accident.

It seems like all the European countries INCLUDING UKRAINE are sending fire-fighting planes over. Oh and the Palestinian Authority offered to send some fire-fighters too.

Yup the major world powers really are into BDS and they are clearly losing . Also its a 50/50 chance for rain.

The Israel airforce offered to make one of the planes a fire-fighting plane (apparently you just install some stuff it takes like several hours) when the fire first broke out and the fire-department said "nahh it's not big". Womp womp someone is getting fired.

No one has died, and most injuries seem to be burns and smoke, which is good all things considered. This fire seems to be the largest in the countries history

Last time there was a big fire was about 9 years ago. It's not California that runs things so shit that they have a yearly fire.

We do have over a hundred times more forest than Israel, and we seem to be way, way more densely tree'd. Also I don't think that they have anything as flammable as ponderosas.

Israel has a lot of non-native eucalyptus, which the Jews planted in their agenda to control and eventually successfully eliminate malaria from the region.

Goddamn those fucking trees. They got planted all over California in the 19th century as lumber trees, and then people realized that they can’t be used to for lumber.

From everything I've read and heard, Israel is environmentally like Southern California. Coastal plains up east to the mountains are pretty damn nice, mountains are dry but snow IS possible, then east towards the Jordan Rift Valley it's full on harsh desert with little vegetation. Even the Salton Sea is like a shitty Temu Dead Sea. The fact Eucalyptus grows a lot there only makes sense.

I agree with @Maori Kiwifruit Growers -- Israel since it's founding has really pushed for reforestation and making previous Mandatory Palestine "wasteland" lush (which they have been pretty damn successful at). As this trend continues, more firefighting capabilities are needed. @wtfNeedSignUp is also right that y'all aren't managing your forests like Southern California YET. Small warning: California has had a disproportionate amount of Jews controlling state policies for a long time, so Israelis aren't immune to Californication (granted, Californian Jews, like most Californians, seem way more like globalist urban political posturers than Israeli Jews who are trying to make a functioning state as a whole).

Slight OT, curious if y'all can grow Bird of Paradise flowers there. If so, then my "Israel == Southern California" climate comparison is perfect:

Some music to celebrate the 77 years to this glorious country:

In the case those dirty aussies managed to convince the Jews the trees can be used to clean out swampland (which is still a popular myth).

I don't recall those flowers, the most exotic flowers popular here are Blood of the Maccabees
