  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
'jewtube has amazing frontend work'.webp

Am I the only one getting this for hours? Logging out of my account seems to do the trick, but navigating the website becomes unbearably slow and broken to the point it's basically unusable. Wiping cookies doesn't do the trick, and ad-blocking isn't the culprit either.

If not, then holy shit, jeets have finally collapsed YT's live build. I can't fathom spending billions in R&D, manpower and infrastructure just to have website-breaking typos in the live front-end code.

Using a VPN? Clear your cookies, pick an EU country endpoint, then redirect any/all video links to youtube-nocookie.com/embed/ instead of the usual youtube.com/watch?v= links. The cookie-free embedded video player is unimpacted, and as long as you don't log in or try to pass their stupid embedded CAPTCHA (on the regular video player) then the site stays working.

If you're not on a VPN, the site [mostly] works without logging in but you might need to clear cookies from time to time.

What the fuck is this thumbnail even? Lmao it feels like this guy got everything wrong on purpose.
huh_.webp
VHS had long been dead by 2012, the early 2010's is when CRT's were on their final breathes ever since flat screen TV hype from like 2006 to 2008, DVD was very much getting replaced by Blu-ray by this point (It was released in 2006 and was the PS3's main selling point, for fuck sakes) books...I don't even fucking know, and that is the Playstation logo from 1994. On the other side, Playstation Plus was a PS3 thing (Though I kind of get that one since Playstation Plus then was just for extra benefits instead of being a necessity for online play), Netflix was already big, Twitter and Facebook were staples by this point, I kind of understand TikTok and Spotify, and I don't know what the screens and Playstation 5 controller are supposed to mean.

Honestly, I know I'm missing the point on purpose but I fucking hate seeing these retarded ass videos for the 1 billionth time gloating over how much shit was "so better" and how everything has gotten worse. And you know what, they're right. A lot of shit back then was very better than how it is now. However, I don't think the constant whining and bitching and makin videos about shit everyone knows about for the 1,254,284 time is gonna improve things anytime soon. It could arguably get worse since every cocksucker who makes this regurgitated shit content (With their totally unique and original insight on matters) is a complacent faggot and don't/won't do anything to help.

I see that one of the first chapters is about the whole streaming vs physical media debate and I'm just so sick of it. Yes, streaming sucks. Yes, physical media has a lot of benefits. How about shutting the fuck up about it and just enjoy it instead of trying to preach to an imaginary niggercattle that they'll hopefully "save".

I just fucking hate this "content" with a burning passion. They're just as much of a cancer as anybody else.

Don't know if this has been talked about but, I think Youtube is starting to or has faked user engagement, I don't have absolute proof of this but I have been noticing that my account has liked comments that I never liked on vids that are less then a day old so its unlikely that I just forgot that I liked a comment. Could just be the jeet spaghetti code going haywire but it could be a way to boost engagement time for better ad pay. Dunno, I'm not very code savvy, especially with html, and a screen cap of a like isn't very convincing.
I don't have much in the form of concrete evidence, but it seems YouTube has been experimenting with astroturfing user engagement in one form or another for the last five to ten years at least. I definitely know the "mainstream" channels are in some capacity, and that YouTube may or may not provide assistance to certain favored creators by shoving them into your face or allowing to get bot engagement to boost their metrics.

The most prominent example in my mind that was documented in real time was by Memeology on some influencer a few years back.

There's at least six videos documenting this channel from beginning to end, so YouTube has definitely been up to something within the last five years at minimum. And let's not forget about the constant unsubbing that seem to plague some users and channels for whatever reason. While I am willing to attribute that to incompetence on YouTube's end with regards to their coding, at this point I have seen too much to rule out malice.

the one I noticed on was "Man Carrying Thing" so i guess that checks out. I think I had 1 or 2 unsubbed channels but honestly the subscription feed is basically useless cause every fag and their mom is streaming, shitting up the feed, and most the best channels just get deleted or go to shit anyways.

Looks like Freetube is capped to 360p quality regardless of the video now.
I keep getting "Audio formats not available" errors. It takes forever to refresh to even get a video to play.

idk why freetube devs don't offer yt-dlp as a backend choice. You don't even need to include it. Just offer a spot to point to the exe of it.

ok so it's not just me getting this constant audio format shit. usually after refreshing a couple times it starts but none of them have worked all day

Has anyone seen any old, banned channels they were subscribed to be reinstated recently? Doug tennapel posted all his channels that were banned five years ago were just reinstated this morning. I've seen at least two other channels that were banned around 2020 also be reinstated in the last two days. I think youtube might be trying to get their house in order for some reason.

guess I'll just go outside or some bullshit like that

Has anyone figured out how to download yt videos with the original audio track instead of the auto-dubbed translation part. I've done comparisons on several languages but it appears locked to some cookies.

Hey, looks like my strategy doesn't even work anymore as well today on my end. Instead, it even produces a "document.body is null" error now on top of the other errors.

Trust me, it's better that way. You don't want to browse a site so fucked up that it refuses to load basic elements.

Nope, I tried without VPNs and other web browsers. As inconvenient as it is, FreeTube still works fine though.

It's so over. Im down to my last few tabs that I had open from before it broke, soon im gonna have to actually do something productive

There was some talks of YT wanting the 1080p quality a paid function so quality being borked might be leading to that and the code monkeys likely broke other site and code functions trying.

Seems like the modern capitalistic thing to do is just see how many once free features you can paywall before people snap and ditch you into bankrupcy (not that this is happening anytime soon to most of these companies).

well shit i guess grayjay ain't working anymore either, it keeps asking me to log in to watch videos. so can you no longer watch youtube without making an account?
GrayJay still works fine for me. Could it be a geographical thing? (I'm not in the US).

Ofc the GrayJay devs may have released an update and fixed this already; if so then I deserve all the alarm clocks.

yt-dlp has been capped at 360p for a couple of weeks now (at least for me), so I'm not surprised that Freetube has also been cucked.

For now, GrayJay is my go-to for downloading > 360p videos.
