Something that happened was Blazblue, which found success in Western markets by ArcSys paying attention to and interacting with Western audiences. ArcSys is an actual small company, and their bread and butter is (or used to be at least) being contractors for other, bigger developers. They don't have a ton of their own IP.

I will die on this hill, but unless I am misinterpreting the game May and Bridget are around the same age. He's not a boy- he's a 20 year old man and this is all very weird, creepy and gross.

And I'm not sure if this is true, but 20+ years ago people generally assumed Daisuke was a 'Westaboo'. That he's into Western pop culture and aesthetics the way weebs are into Japanese pop culture and aesthetics. Fuck I feel old remembering this shit.

He is a massive lover of Western culture, yeah. Sol (the main character) is himself a walking Queen reference. His name's 'Frederick', his original themes were titled 'Keep Yourself Alive' (featuring riffs lifted from the Queen track of the same name), and his attire features written references to Queen tracks. His alias's second name, 'Badguy', comes straight from Mercury's own nickname 'Mr. Bad Guy' (referencing the song of the same name). Ky takes his first and last names respectively from those of a couple members of some European group (I think they were Swedish?) and has moves called 'Ride the Lightning' and 'Rising Force'. This sort of thing is all over Gear as a whole. Hell, one of Bridget's attacks is 'Kickstart My Heart'.

Pick any character (well, mostly any of them) and see how long it takes to run into a reference.

Daisuke's love for the stuff really started to come out in Xrd (the third mainline series of games) with tracks like Icarus and especially Freesia (Queen is his favorite band iirc).

I think he is, yeah. He's kind of a giant nerd, and, while he has artists today that do their own work within his series, in the early days he did everything from draw, perform the music (at least most parts of it; I'm not sure if he ever did percussion), and even the spritework. Way back when he did most everything except for programming. I don't think he's necessarily catering to trannies because he's into that shit, but I do find it annoying that more and more his work leans into it (it's especially annoying that this is at the expense of existing characters instead of just making new ones). It doesn't help that he was (if I recall right) the one who started the whole 'Testament has ascended gender' meme that the tranny crowd naturally appropriated.

I wasn't expecting to see a thread pop up like this. The timeline of what happened to Bridget really mirrors what happened to my local and regional scene. Back before and during xrd release everyone who played guilty gear was a quite tight knit group who usually played all the other anime fighters like blazblue, persona and under night.

Around covid and when +r got rollback there was a big influx of newer/younger players that joined. A lot of older players from the 2010s era started playing less or falling off and the core of who ended up playing the game the most were trannies. We really didnt have anyone who was trans before but its really exploded in number and ive seen multiple young people i consider really stupid and impressionable troon out since then.

Then Strive is released, it tries its best to remove everything good about the old games and panders with bridget and testament super hard. By this point ive basically stopped interacting with the larger scene because its become so large and fractured and full of complete retards and awful posters. At majors there is literally the tranny corner where they stick guilty gear. Not to mention there have been so many sexual assault/harassment/grooming incidents which all involve the new guilty gear and strive scenes which basically never happened before.

I wonder what the regret and pain rate is in the Speedrunning community, but no one can out themselves there since that's more specific and easier to identify unless the game is huge.

The biggest troon hobbies seem to be video games, and most off topic or collective grieving threads go towards video game troons as well. It warms my heart to see people very passionate about their geeky hobbies like anime fans in the late 2000s, the grief and rage comes from being passionate about things you loved to share with people. Now watching half of them get scooped up and hollowed out is harrowing and turns a lot bitter. I had a friend into small hobby indie games with me who had the same happen: become nonbinary, join discord server full of people who explicitly say they're full of trans people who hate capitalism while playing minecraft 24/7 and being privilged enough to make games, and so on. It blows.

One day we might be able to sweep some of the cult out. For now, we endure.

No need to apologize. If my own postings have been anything to go by, the trannifcation of the scene has happened to a lot of us, so you're not alone there. If you've been in the +Rcord basically anytime post-rollback then you know exactly the playerbase I'm referring to (and I say that lightly; a majority of them don't even play). Those splinter groups aren't even much better. Overdrive Online is touted as this 'chud hellhole full of every phobic you can imagine' but in reality it's just a bunch of 'problematic' banned users who (while behaving less current year than the main groups) still suck tranny cock and shoot you for liking Trumpler; the usual kind of people. Hell, one of the main dudes in there is an anal vore/fart fetishist who posts Bridget porn all of the time.

Speaking of splinter groups i do now just hang out with friends in a group separated from the main scene where a bunch of friends are. Unfortunately there has been multiple additions of young stupid teens which are being trooned out and they have brought the posting quality down considerably. That's because it is kind of a bit of a grieving thing. It doesn't just have to be the FGC, it can be your book club, a hiking club, some sports club you like, anything like that. When you've put in years of your life getting to know people and find this thing you care about you absorb it into your identity. It's the thing you do, it's just where you go. The troons come along and take it for themselves, make it all about themselves, strip away whatever made it fun in the first place, then spend the whole day sitting around jerking each other off anyway. They don't even partake in your hobby once they're settled in; they just wear it like a skinsuit.

As far as speedrunning goes it happens there too. A sort of speedrun-adjacent group I like to hang out in has its share, and while they're quiet for the most part they're not without their own horrible pedo drama, which reminds me...

...there is a younger guy in there who looks up to a lot of the better players (which for whatever reason includes me even though I'm ass); I've tried to keep the guy on the straight and narrow and to watch out because these people are only out to hurt him. Some freak legitimately was trying to get him to move from across the country and start hormones. Best you can do is try and set a good example and get them to look out for themselves.

Its really sad to see. One of the teens ive seen has basically turned into the biggest stereotype of a crazy lefty on twitter and its just so sad to see how much it is enabled. Conversely there is someone who i had known over 10 years who recently trooned out. Their entire personality flips and becomes much more overtly sexual towards other people. We had an old TO who was outed for being sketchy with money and being generally unliked a long time ago. Years later he is back and has trooned out. Rocks up to events with coloured hair, corset, fishnets and trying to reveal as much skin as possible. Later they are found out to be grooming a young player who is also trans and outed yet again. But before people found out you just had to accept it like it was normal.

Whoever you think is the coolest. All three of the games (yes, even Strive) are complex enough to where 'learning the game' on one character who's supposedly more 'basic' isn't going to help you with the character you think is the sickest. Just go with your gut.

I disagree. if a so called "heterosexual" man jerks off to a trap character and is okay with the fact that the character has a dick/is male then they're not straight. Even if majority of regular gays are into masc gays, there's a group that's into femmes, I mean the word twink came from the gays. Cross dressing/drag is part of the gay scene too.

Maybe we can just label trap enjoyers as degenerate bisexuals or bi-curious coomers instead.
