People like to say Giant Bomb died when x thing happened and personally I've always been in the camp that it was when they hired Patrick. He was whining about culture wars stuff from day 1, and this was back in 2011 too. Before most of us even knew what that term meant, before GG, before people were really throwing around terms like woke, sjw, etc. etc. But even back then he was shitting things up, I remember one of the first causes he decided to "champion" was getting rid of booth babes at E3. Also clicking on his podcast link lol. I figured it'd be a youtube channel filled with videos no one was watching but a lot of those vids aren't even cracking 4 digits. That's sad even by the standards of washed up gaming journos.

I think it's such a disgusting article in so many ways, and the headline basically sets you up for what you should expect. Scott was nothing but nice to these people and still is to this day despite all this, his entire response was him refusing to apologize while persistently saying that supporting Trump and supporting LGBTQ people can and has co-existed before, and that people are far more than their political beliefs or donations. And despite this perfectly reasonable logic, because he decided to prioritize what he thought was the best for the entire country as opposed to what was the best for a minority group, a tsunami's worth of people got on his ass simply because he donated to the "wrong" candidates. Whether or not you think Trump or Mitch was the actual right candidate to donate to is an entirely different discussion, but it's such a nuanced and deep discussion that goes so much deeper than "Trump no like gays so everyone who supports him no like gays" and the fact that it was so grossly simplified despite Scotts own words just really irks me to this day.

Yeah yeah I know funny Freddy Fazbear and all that shit, but still, why the fuck can't games outlets just stay on topic? Let the more political or more nuanced outlets deal with this shit, not fucking Kotaku, you're the fucking Tumblr of the game journalist websites, you're not even on the same level as tumblr because atleast Tumblr has some funny people on it, there's not a hint of humor or self-awareness here, just shit.

Even if Polygon and Game Journos didn't suck for the obvious reasons, a website with a small writers room can't compete with how most people learn about their favorite video games. It's all specialized youtube channels and x accounts now. The absolute best case scenario for someone writing an article at Polygon is that the journo has played the game, liked it, and bothered to give xer opinion on it without bitching about the evil Chuds. That same journo has had to write about five other video games that week that they don't give a shit about. In the end you don't look for that journo when accessing news about a new game.

Instead you're going to find the people that specialize in the particular games that you like. There are just people that agree with my tastes in games that have decided to make a youtube channel about those particular games so I'll know if I, specifically, will like it or not. Why I can even choose my flavor of woke or based if I really feel like it. The old Kotaku model just can't compete with that and that's putting all the retarded bullshit games journoscum do to the side.
