I suspect DARVO. She’s been looking up different forms of abuse, found “baby-trapping,” thought “oh shit that’s what I tried to do to Daniel” and tried to figure out how to flip that on him.

The only part I believe, kinda, is the part about calming her down. Her life is just a kaleidoscope of self-destructive attention-seeking behaviour, and Daniel probably figured it was only a matter of time before she started heroin or bug chasing or something.

The entire thing is built from rotten wood, however that information was gotten, either fabricated as so many other of her claims are, or she violated someone's property and privacy, it may actually be true. There are no sane players in this production.

I think it's more likely an offhand comment blown out of proportion. Doesn't have to be so sinister, Daniel's mom could simply say, "I'm sorry to hear you two are having trouble. Daniel had mentioned he hoped the baby would give you some peace." Or something banal to that effect, which again would just be a reflection of something Daniel himself had told her almost in passing, "yeah mein mommy, the IVF is quite stressful but hopefully it's worth it. I hope the baby finally helps yonah relax and give her whatever she's missing. we will see. So how's business at the dirndl factory, by the way?"

Which kind of leads me back to my first question - how much of this is just instinctual and reflexive based on her warped perspective and how much is calculated? Because no logical person would consider what Daniel said a form of baby trapping. It sounds like something potential parents in maybe slightly rocky relationships would say to friends and family members thousands of times a day.

Bex is truly fascinating, I agree with everyone on that by the way. The inner workings of her mind never cease to spark my curiosity.

The process goes something like this:

1. In an emotionally unhinged state (frequent occurrence for BPDs) she tells a desperate lie to try to enlist support or relieve distress.

2. Her reality testing is impaired due to the disorder so slippage begins to occur. She starts to forget how much of her tale was true and how much was a fable.

3. The lie enters into her mind as official canon and she now sincerely believes it, albeit perhaps with a small mental asterisk.
