Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - Final Fantasy/Persona inspired FRPG

Came back and beat that fucker from Frozen Hearts first try thanks to shielding death. Adding 3 shields on death is absolutely busted and Lune had like 9 shield stacks by the end of the fight.
Honestly, the most annoying thing about that fight, is if you miss the dodge/parry, you get frozen and you have to either cleanse or shoot a fire ball.
Did you also do the Chromatic boss on the lower levels? The one that Blights the entire party?
I kicked his ass with all members having 1/1 HP most of the fight.

Here's a pic of the party. I genuinely don't know what to put on Sciel so I just dedicated myself to making her have the ugliest outfit in the game. I'm really hoping there are more outfits for Monoco.
Wacky band.
Lune also has the white dress costume, from the Danceuse teacher, same area. It's not my cup of tea, just mentioning it, in case you missed it.

Here's my current nigga squad.

I give all of them, roughly 80% the same Lumina, with small variations.
Main focus is crit, break and don't die like a bitch effects.

Getting to Act 3 opened two cool things.
Esquie being able to fly, which is incredibly nice and I'm no longer getting cucked at 9999 damage. Now, I can break the game with some really perverse damage.

I hated this boss and it's weird delayed combos.

Whats the honest take on this? is it that good?

Its being astroturfed by an insane ammount so its impossible to tell if the praise is genuine or not.
It's a very solid JRPG made by devs who have nothing but love and adoration for the genre as a whole. The story is pretty good but even in the story you can tell what JRPGs they were inspired by. The gameplay is varied for a turn based JRPG with a ton of build variety if you manage your pictos and equipped skills properly. I'd imagine that the game is only getting the attention it's getting now because it isn't anime inspired which is kind of depressing all things considered. Hopefully it inspires people to play the games that this is inspired by (Shadow Hearts, Lost Odyssey, etc) instead of discarding them because they're "too anime". I know I've bumped up Lost Odyssey up in my backlog because of this game.

Nigga, you dumb af, maybe legit retarded.

You can simply read the fucking thread, where people are discussing honestly about it, without censorship. You have videos, screenshots, everything to make an informed decision on your own.

Like, if some dude says it's good or bad, that's it, you take that at face value and go on your merry way?

This game has been such a filter for the chud right its been hilarious. Its like it was designed in a lab to maximize the cognitive dissonance in their brains and make them trainwreck. Its a game with innovative gameplay, great visuals and soundtrack, made by a small dev team of basically 100% white people.

And they put black people in the very first scene. And then never again.

Brain shutdown initiated. Oh can't like it, its woke!

The same thing happened with BG3 but BG3 had the drag queen in it which I hated. Did I still play it? hell yeah. I'm completely alienated from the more extreme elements on the right after playing this game and seeing their reaction to it.

Alright, I just finished the game. I wish I wrote down my guesses for how the story would go because I managed to get a lot right.

My guess was that gustave would sacrifice himself to protect maelle in the end. Tell her he prepared the way for her to live a long life. The guy was a walking "One more day till retirement" flag. I was pretty surprised they killed Gustave so soon though. My second guess was that the world was falling apart through some cataclysmic event and the paintress had to sacrifice people in order to keep it together. I couldn't figure out why she would use the countdown though.
The battlefield and the belle epoque symbology also made me think that maybe it was some kind WW1/loss of innocence angle.

The story was neat, although it does get close to "it was all a dream" territory which I'm not too sure about. I wouldn't have minded if they just played it straight and it was just some magical alternative world.

The combat was neat. Although near the end I got tired of it as enemies started breaking all rules of animation and started twitching like a spastic and the sound cues started to be off. And please don't put me through 5 minutes of running back and skipping through dialogue to get another go if you want me to fight a boss and get used to his attacks.

"Two female characters are lesbains", wtf is he talking about? Did we play the same game?
Someone in the comments there is saying that Dragon's Dogma 1 was woke because it had a black lady commander in it.

I know said character and last I checked she was just there because the DD dev team were Berserk fans so they put a dead ringer for Casca in there.

I'll be frank, while I respect Synthetic Man for sticking to his guns, he's kind of dumb and his fans don't seem like the most impressive specimens.

Why are you taking the opinions of WHOA MAMMA seriously?
We laugh at retards, not give them the time of day when they spout horseshit.

Lune might be too autistic for romance but I haven't finished her not Social Link yet.
In A3 you get to bang the autism out of her, quite literally.
Also, there's no lesbo or homo shit in this game. Sciel and Lune rekindle their old friendship, nothing more.

fuck those 3 dancing ghost in falling leaves in the ass.
Flying enemies are a bitch to fight.
Best way is to learn their moves and counter.
Pay attention for the sound cues. The charm one being the easiest to counter, since it goes like this sounds > sound > parry.
Later in game, you'll look back and remember how easy they were, compared to some of the fucking weird combos enemies in A3 do.
